My wife and I went there during our vacation in Ogunquit. Everything about the place was 1st class. We had a great table by the window...views were amazing. Food was great (be sure to get their clam chowder). A must place to go when vacationing in the area.

We were lucky enough to get a window table but not because we had requested one with the reservation. We were told that the window tables were first come first served (so what was the point of a reservation?) If we had not gotten a window table, the dining room did not have much else going for it. It seemed dated. The placement of tables away from the windows seemed awkward at at best. The restaurant was very quiet and honestly dull. The food was fair and somewhat overpriced. The service was good, however. The manager was dressed in very casual slacks and shirt. It was hard to tell what her role was. The young lady who met us at the hostess stand was very pleasant and charming. It was an ok evening, but did not live up to my expectations

I have been to the Cliff House dining room many times. I've never had a bad meal...That said, I wouldn't say that the food was absolutely amazing. I had a vegetarian special that was very good --tofu with balsamic glaze over red roasted pepper polenta with baby bok choy and roasted tomatoes. My husband had a surf and turf -- he likes meat cooked rare, and the kitchen did prepare it that way and he had no complaints. Again, not amazing though. The chocolate croissant bread pudding was light and fluffy and a good recommendation for a chocoholic. The wait staff was very kind and prompt. The view is wonderful - right on the ocean, overlooking Bald Head Cliff. We were seated at a window.

We had the good fortunate to be seated at a window table overlooking the Atlantic. Unfortunately, our waitress not very efficient. It took her a while to stop by opur table to see if we'd likje a cocktail and she seemed a bit put out when we ask for a drink menu. When the beverages arrived, one guest was served a cocktail that he did not order. When she returned with the correct drink, she blamed the bartender for the error. We were a bit taken back when the salad was served before the appetizer. Then we were surprised when the apps showed up three minutes later and were placed in the center of the table. The service never got much better. The food, on the other hand, was fantastic - from appetizer through entree.

Were staying at the resort and really enjoyed our visit. Only downside was the prices charged for all the meals. Casual dining menu was very nice and not too badly priced for a resort. Formal dining room dinner was good, breathtaking views, top-notch service, but a little disappointing considering how wonderful everything else was at the resort. Fish entree was tasty, but a little dry. Surf and turf steak was only 4oz, but meal cost $40.

Celebrated my parent's 40th Wedding Anniversary and was treated like guests at a McDonalds. Do NOT waste your time at the Cliff House. Our server was awful. Our dinner service (for 6) took 2 hours, and the dining room was nearly empty. We had to ask the server to clear the table because she just kept ignoring all the plates. I was so sad we ended up picking their for my parents' special day.

I had made reservation for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. My first impression was good, but then went down hill fast. The service our waitress provided was very slow. She took forever bringing our drinks and appetizers. We had to ask for rolls to be brought to our table and our water glasses sat empty waiting to be refilled. Considering this is supposed to be an upscale restaurant, I was not impressed with the service they provided. The only impressive part was the view of the cliffs and ocean. If the Cliff House wants to portray their dining room as upsccale.... then they need to make sure all parts of their service reflects it.The food was good, but could have been better considering the price point. Will not be returning.

I ordered a med-rare steak. It was an inferior piece of meat and cooked well-done. I sent it back and ordered a med-rare roast beef. It was ok. I asked for a steak knife and it never came. The restaurant manager came over and offered, subject to management approval, some compensation. In the morning the manager stated that she discussed compensation and they refused to offer it. We question managements policy in relation to supervisery personnel.

For the $100 we spent we could have had a great meal at any number of local choices but only a few others offer seaside dining and none as panoramic as this. Don't go expecting quality food or service - our waitress didn't even know all the draft beer offerings they have! The entree choices were quite limited and only one special dinner offering. And for dessert - four cheesecake choices and creme brûlée - that's it! All this would have rated a "1" if it weren't for the table overlooking the Atlantic.

What a seaside gem. Beautifully decorated dining room. Elegant but warm and friendly. Every table has a full view of the waves crashing onto the rocks right below your window. We had dinner there, myself and three friends, we had so much fun and it was the BEST meal I have ever eaten! We all ate ever single thing on our plate, I had the filet I cut it with my fork! Not kidding! We laughed, ate slow we were not rushed, had an amazing view, I could not say enough about our dining experience, I will say I have been there many times before and did not feel the same way, not sure if they changed something this year, but if u stay at the chill house and have not been happy with the restaurant and go elsewhere to eat, give them another try I'm sure u will be more than pleased! The breakfast buffet is also amazing! And u will love the people they are so sweet, kind, helpful, constant do u need anything, can I help you?

The windowed walls of this romantic restaurant bring the ocean to you while you dine in a quiet, romantic setting filled with couples and "ladies get-a-way" groups. The brie and raspberry in bread bowl was phenomenal; easily shared by 2 or three it was so big. I chose to take my leftovers home for a great lunch. My husband loved his lobster bisque and our salads were nicely chilled and crisp with house blueberry dressing that was subtle and light. Our tenderloin dinners were perfect with potatoes gratin that had a nice surprise layer of sweet potato among layers of white potato (cheese was hard to detect but still delicious). Blueberry pie was a perfect ending to a great meal.

Not a good idea to go with the meal plan. Seems once the server knows you are with the meal plan your service declines. Tip is already included with the meal plan. Restaurant was not very busy so we really did not need to make a reservation. Needed to wait for our server to finish her long conversation with other diners to get her attention. Needed to remind her to serve bread with our salads.

Service is slow, and while they're trying to be attentive, they actually a little scattered. They make a big deal of reservations and how crowded the restaurant is, so it is surprising to find maybe 10 tables fille out of many more than that. My sense was that they were very short-handed. My husband was served the wrong wine (a burgundy rather than the shiraz he ordered), but it seemed likely that it would take another 15 minutes to get the right drink, so he didn't say anything. The food was ok--heavy, a little too much salt. The hostess was very friendly and took care with several elderly diners. The waitstaff was generally friendly, though a little impatient with those older diners.

What a disappointment. I would not go back. The room was dark and empty as only the tables at the windows were seated. As people left those tables we were re-sat at a window spot. Now I know why the reservation could not be made until 8:30! The room had no charm or warmth. If I had known the food was just average I would have had my drink outside ( a bit buggy; maybe use some citronella?), enjoyed the view and then gone home.

We had a very nice time. I had made a reservation for six but only five could make it and they were very gracious. The food was excellent, well prepared and presented. The service was a little slow but we were in no hurry and actually enjoyed the laid back feeling. The waitress did apologize, saying the kitchen had been overwhelmed with orders. I personally always appreciate an explanation. The views were stunning. There were some cell phones going off during our meal which we found irritating, but that is not the restaurants fault, just the ignorant patrons. All in all a wonderful experience.
