Diner Reviews
  • "We eat here a couple of times a year and are always well pleased with the atmosphere, service and food! This is truly one of the BEST eating choices in Iowa! It is a hidden gem for sure! Our meals were absolutely fabulous! I had the lamb and my wife had the stuffed pork chops. We continued to rave all night about how good our meals were! The Chef's make the entrees unique and different but always great to the taste buds! Would not recommend taking "children" to the restaurant; it is more of a special date night kind of experience! We will continue to go back!"

  • "We had brunch there last Sunday before my father's honor flight orientation. We are all from out of town and I was looking for a nice place to eat so I searched for restaurants close to the hotel which there really wasn't any. I was glad to find the Class Act at the hotel. I made reservations online, when we got there a few addtional people had joined our party which they were able to accommodate and we ended up in a great private room. The menu was full of options, so it was sort of hard to choose. All of our food came out in a timely manner and was more than many of us could eat. Everyone had a great time. Thank you."

  • "We had the best tuna we've ever had in the Midwest, and better than a few places on the coast. Flavor and texture were spot on. There was nothing on our plate that didn't contribute directly to the dish. It was all delicious! The Mediterranean Nachos are a must try appetizer. I wish we could have stayed for dessert. I can't forget to mention that our service was remarkable in every way. Knowledgeable, attentive without being annoying, and prompt. Great job!"

  • "It was Janet's birthday and we wanted to go somewhere nice and special, so we chose the Class Act. Our server was awesome, and very good. Refilled our drinks timely, and was just down right very pleasant. Love the location close to our office and so much FREE parking is a plus."

  • "Class Act is a beautiful restaurant with a contemporary design. It is conveniently located near the airport for business meals. Our service was polite and enthusiastic though quite slow despite very few diners this particular evening. The cheese plate appetizer was rather sparse with a "dessert-type" of chocolate ricotta cheese served in it which was a little peculiar. The entrees were extremely underseasoned and bland despite being plated attractively. Steak was high quality and cooked to the requested level, but again, markedly underseasoned. This restaurant has all of the elements to be a real gem if only there were more attention to the seasoning of the food coming out of the kitchen."

  • "Our food was fantastic and very filling. The waitress recommended BellaRosa for our wine and we loved the wine. Everything was clean and service was excellent. My friend ordered the hot chocolate and did complain of the cost being $5."

  • "I love trying new food and different restaurants. We went here because we felt like a lot of other places offered slight variations of the same dish over and over. I was unfamiliar with most of what Class Act had to offer. Our waiter was very knowledgeable. I ordered the coco crusted tenderloin with eggnog risotto. My fiance ordered the home made ravioli. In the end, we left hungry. His five raviolis and half a chicken breast did cover it and my risotto was very cinnamon (y). I would suggest it because it was fun. But don't hesitate to fill up on the starter bread."

  • "Was a great setting. Service was good but did have to wait while we watched our server stand in the kitchen and stare into space or talk with other employees. The steak was not worth the 30$ it was very dry. We've cooked better at home on the grill. Was hoping to have a great vday with good food. But my boyfriend was not impressed with the food and does not wish to return. To bad it a beautiful dinning experiance"

  • "I have been to The Class Act several times for lunch and have always loved it - the food, the ambience, the service has always been fantastic! This last visit was my first time for dinner. Again, a wonderful place to go with just the right atmosphere for a special dinner out. I was however disappointed in the pomegranate chicken dish that I had. My partner had the steak and potatoes and it was wonderful though."

  • "Usually the service is great but this time we had indifferent service. Food was good but normally is excellent...but before noon at brunch they were out of our first choices."

  • "We visited last year in Jan & had the most outstanding meal so we decided on our trip back to return. Unfortunetly, this years return visit just did not meet the expectations we had from the previous visit. The service was great, our server though not 21yrs old & unable to describe some of the wines was knowledgable & made suggestions. The charcuterie / pate were the highlight of the meal while all 4 of our main courses fell short in flavor. Everything was very under seasoned & underwhelming. We had the Meatloaf the Chicken & Risotto which was so overly sweet it was dessert like. The worst dish of the night was the gnocchi mushroom consomme, I am a huge of all three of those components but the broth was unedible & the mushrooms were tough."

  • "We have dined here before and were pleased but it has been awhile. Chose to eat here on Christmas Day with a friend. Service was very spotty. food came to the table with longish gaps between each of us and side dishes came later than the main orders. It was not clear from either the host person or server what part of the menu was available at our reserved time of 2 pm. The menu indicated that brunch was served until 2 and dinner at 5. My food was not cooked as ordered and it took some time to get it fixed. ambience was compromised by loud floor cleaning equipment and less than crisp and clean tablecloths. I really hope this was a holiday anomaly as I have had at least one good experience in the past"

  • "We really enjoyed our family night out at Class Act! Even as elegant as it was, it was still kid friendly and the staff was very accommodating to our picky teenage sons. We loved everything we ordered. The only negative would have been the noice from the kitchen; although we understand that would be unavoidable due to the layout of the restaurant. Will definitely be back!!"

  • "When searching for a new place to have breakfast I noticed your restaurant in a Google list. Trying to take a foodie and a cave man to the same place is problematic however The Class Act performed with flying colors. Every one found something delicious on the menu. The service was a little slow but we weren't in any hurry. The staff got the orders right, were friendly and courteous even to the mumbling little boy. I am delighted to have a delicious and different place to meet my caveman and foodie friends."

  • "We were a party of 8. Some of the food was good and some of it wasn't. The beef tenderloin was like eating shoe leather, but the duck was fantastic. So, overall this is a nice place, but the food was inconsistent. On a positive note, the wine markups were very reasonable, most bottles were about 50% over retail."

  • "Taking a year off from Thanksgiving chaos, my mother and I chose the dinner for 2 for Thanksgiving. We had an amazing supper consisting of an appetizer, 3 sharable (huge) entrees, and dessert. The wine list and mixed drinks were incredible, and the service was 5-star. Not our normal Thanksgiving fare, but notably both of our favorite suppers in a long time!"

  • "A Class Act Restaurant is a somewhat out of the way gem of a restaurant. The easy to get to and to park location, the beautiful decor or the hotel lobby and of the restaurant, and MOST OF ALL the selections and quality of food make it a must for those who like fine dining in a very pleasant and easy to visit atmosphere."

  • "It was amazing!! I've never had something I didn't like here! We tried food that we've had other places that I wasn't the biggest fan of, but at The Class Act it was AMAZING!! All the food is soooo good!!!! This time dinning here it was our 1 year wedding anniversary... we actually had our reception at the hotel and for one of our appetizers we had this awesome baked goat cheese with bread... well it isn't on the menu anymore but we asked about it and the chef decided to make it for us anyways!!! How nice of him!! This place is one of the nicest restaurants is this area and it's so understated... not enough people know about the restaurant and how nice it actually is!!"

  • "We have been to The Class Act several times and always have a great time. The menu changes with seasonal offerings and they always do their best to use locally sourced ingredients. Service is attentive without hovering, and the wine list is pretty good (needs more reds!). We took friends this time and they all were raving about the place when we left. We'll be back!"

  • "Food was prepared nicely with a pretty presentation. But folks did not like the taste of the chicken dish with noodles or the steak meal from a "taste perspective". It was pricey for the food. Service was very good."
