Steaks cooked to perfection, yummy sides, some delicious chocolate peanut butter concoction for dessert, it was wonderful. The service is impeccable. If we're ever back in Grand Rapids we'll definitely stop in again."

  • "I had the small filet and asked for it done rare. It was cooked to perfection. I had read a review on Yelp that the steaks were tough. However, I suspect that reviewer had insisted that his steak be well done, which is enough to ruin even the finest steak. I had my steak without any accompaniment; a good steak will stand on its own without any garnishments. My filet certainly did. It was outstanding."

  • "This is my boyfriend's favorite restaurant, and we went to The Chophouse to celebrate his birthday. This was my first time at the restaurant, and my expectations were high due to all of the great things he had shared with me. My experience was outstanding, and my expectations were exceeded. The staff made our dining experience exceptional - personable, professional, and timely. The food was amazing - great quality beef cuts and fresh vegetables. We adored the ambiance; we had such a nice time and the environment fostered quietness, which allowed us to focus on each other and enjoy awesome conversation rather than being distracted by the people around us. I highly recommend especially for celebrations or special occasions."

I heard the waiter at the next table telling the customers that he would explain them, so when our waitress came back I asked her what the specials were. After hearing them, I wanted to change my order, which she did, but with NO apology for forgetting to mention them to us. NOT good is such an upscale place! Other than that, our visit was fine."

Staff is easy going and friendly, service is terrific, food is outstanding, and ambience is a 10. On a regular occasion, be prepared to spend $60/person without gratuity. On your birthday - prepare for a heavy birthday discount (bring your ID). My first choice for something special, hands down."

  • "The entire experience was fabulous from the waitress to the food. It is expensive and worth every penny. The Steak au Poivre I had was excellent, the Lamb and Beef Wellington were amazing. The Cowboy Steak was probably the best rib eye I've tasted. And all of these paled in comparison to the Lobster Bisque, which is NOT TO BE MISSED. Trust me on this. Oh yes, the au gratin potatoes were amazing and the leftovers were even amazing the next day."

The excellent reviews on OpenTable and Urbanspoon set the bar high and they were all correct. The ambiance is excellent, the food is superior, and the staff are professional and helpful with just the right amount of attention. The presentation of all courses (appetizers, salads, entrees, and dessert) were top-notch and our waitress was extremely knowledgeable about both the wine menu and well as the dinner menu. This restaurant is truly a gem and well-worth every penny spent."

  • "The wait staff were pros (Hannah). She is worth 5 regular waitresses. Food presentation was A+. Food at dinner very good, but later problems. Developed stomach cramps, gas, and things that early morning. When reviewing take home doggy bags, a spoiled meat smell was there with the steak, while the scallops appeared fine. Threw meat away, should have brought it to county health for testing. Also, sensed the meat was treated with a flavor enhancer vs. just its natural flavor. Meant to ask while at the restaurant but didn't happen. Really enjoyed or time there, but did not enjoy potty time after eating there. Will we come back, maybe, will ask and direct cooking process more if there is a next time. Your web site has problems. Bad web sit"

  • "Out with friends for some great dining experience. Started with 1/2 dozen Oysters, then the Cowboy Steak. Shared Asparagus, 1 pound baked potato, Au Gratin Potatoes, and Wild Mushrooms. Finished with Creme Brulee Cheesecake. Others in party had the Sole with Lemon Butter Almondine, 11oz Filet Mignon, and Crab Cakes. Well worth the $400 (after tip). Blake was an awesome server and his team was great!"

  • "My wife and I celebrated her birthday here. They run quite a nice special on your actual birthday the meal is half off for a couple (food only). This made the price fairly attractive. We still went all in, Crab cake appetizer was wonderful. One of the better to best crab cakes I have had in my life. Soup I had French Onion she had Lobster bisque. Both were amazing soups. The Lobster Bisque may of been the best soup I have ever had, ever. I dont even love lobster or Lobster bisque and am still saying that, just to die for. The main courses and sides of Steak and macncheese and mushrooms were good. Not the best I have ever had (but I have had a lot of good steaks) very good though. Desert of Creme Brulee cheescake i though was amazing."

  • "My mom and I brought my Uncle here from out of town (Des Moines, IA). He's a foodie and before going, thought it's just another steakhouse and how could it be as good as we were claiming... (I had to convince him to just try it, for me). After taking his first bite, he was floored! He raved about how he had to bring his wife to Grand Rapids to try it! He is a world traveler, and said that this is one of the most amazing places he's ever eaten at. I would concur! I'm a steak-gal, and whenever I go out of town - Chicago, Tampa, San Diego, Colorado - I go to a steakhouse with great reviews. But, I'm always disappointed as nothing has yet compared to the Grand Rapids Chop House!"

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary and the maître d' congratualted on the way in, and then remembered over 3 hours later when we left Dolce Vita. Our table service upstairs was phenomenal and Jennifer ensured that everything was to perfection for us. She never made us feel uncomfortable in an environment that my wife and I are both unfamiliar with. She was kind and knowledgable. On missing a piece of the order she quickly remedied the situation and made sure the night continued upstairs without a hitch. Downstairs at Dolce Vita was another amazing experience. The service and staff throughout the evening was phenomenal!"

  • "John was our waiter and he was outstanding. The food was quite pricey, but we did not walk away hunger, as you do at a lot of high class restaurants. Everything tasted wonderful. My husband had the steak filet and he said you could cut it with a butter knife. I had the crab cakes, had to bring one home with the great portions. Smashed potatoes were great and the broccoli was not under cooked. Definitely pricey but worth if for a special occasion."
