  • "The food was fabulous!! It was off the charts in many ways. I ordered the fillet and it was cooked to perfection. They have an extensive wine list. The service was excellent. Great experience. Best restaurant in Charleston."

  • "Don't be fooled by the fact that this restaurant in a mall. It is a top flight American food restaurant comparable to any place you are likely to go in a major city. We are very lucky to have such a fine restaurant in our relatively small town. The service starts with Valet parking, and excellent bar, well dressed and attentive wait staff who are WV friendly and not pretentious. Steak, sea food, pasta, dessert...you can't go wrong. I have dined at the Chop house at least 30 times and have never had a poor experience. Please try it if you get a chance."

  • "We went for my husband birthday the food was great.the steaks was the best part and we had great service. We wouldn't go every weekend cause of the price but I would recommend this place for special occasion and a romantic dinner."

  • "The food was fantastic! My companion's filet was cooked superbly. The grilled romaine salad was crisp and tasty. My friend loved the lamb chops and the roasted chicken divine!. The service was impeccable-unobtrusive and timely. We were seated at a secluded table which allowed for quiet conversation. Good time and Good meal were had by all."

  • "Overall experience was equal to my expectation of an upscale restaurant like the Charleston Chop House. The only exception was the beef wellington. There was gristle in the meat. The bottom one third required some extra sawing to get through what I assume to have been tendon that had not been trimmed from the fillet. This entree had a strong unpleasant aftertaste that was somewhat like that of the woody shell material inside a pecan nut. This was the first time I've tried beef wellington but I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to taste like that. I told my waiter about this but I didn't ask him to take it back. On reflection I wish I would have. The rest of the meal was excellent, as was the service."

  • "I had been eating hospital food all week because of the snow and I hadn't eaten all day. I really needed a good meal and it was the only place that even showed up on open table. The NY strip was amazing, asparagus and salad was better than expected and the chocolate dessert to die for. Not for the light weight pocketbook, but well worth it in my book. Service was fantastic. I only had 30 minutes before my shift and I was able to eat a relaxing meal and arrive on time. Winner for any occasion."

  • "I had a truly fantastic meal. Everything from the bread basket to dessert and everything in between was great. The quality of the Prime steaks was top drawer and cooked to perfection. I had a peppercorn filet with the peppercorn sauce and it was as good as all the others I have had at top steakhouses. The grilled asparagus was prepared perfectly but the real show stealer believe it or not is the creamed corn. I could eat that for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert! Service was excellent, the wine list thorough--everything was just as you would want it to be."

  • "I hadn't been here for about a year, but was not surprised by the gray food and service. If you want a special dinner you can't go wrong dining here. Expensive, yes but well worth it. I won't be away that long again. Thank you Chop House!"

  • "I took my wife and 2 daughters to The Chop House for my wife's birthday. The girls each ordered a filet and said they were great. I ordereing a Beff Wellington and it was as good as any I have ever eaten. The service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We will definitely be back for my birthday!"

  • "I was really disappointed. Went for a romantic dinner for our wedding anniversary and we were placed next to a table with young children and a large group there for a birthday party. I ordered the sautéed spinach with garlic, but mine had so much garlic it should have been called sautéed garlic with spinach, and I like garlic! The crab and lobster cakes were just okay. My husband steak was rare when he ordered medium. He did like the French onion soup and garlic mashed potatoes."

  • "Absolutely, hands down, the best restaurant I have ever eaten at in Charleston, WV. The atmosphere was welcoming and elegant. The food was impeccable. The dining staff were very professional and friendly! I will definitely go back again and recommend to all family and friends!"

  • "Although I had dined here three times before, some recent reviews made me hesitant but I decided to dine again. I was delighted as the the food and service were just as excellent as my previous experiences. Tabitha was my server and she attend to my dining experience in a very professional manner. My steak au poivre was cooked to perfection. The pricing is appropriate for the quality of the entrees and the side dishes are to be shared. Will continue to dine there when in Charleston."

  • "The experience was exceptional from the friendly smiling greeting when we arrived to the friendly farewell when we left. The waitress did an excellent job in checking with us frequently and even keeping us aware of the WVU game score when we asked her about it. The food was prepared perfectly and served immediately."

  • "I ordered a Porterhouse steak to be medium-well done. I'm not sure what was served to me, but it wasn't a Porterhouse. The steak was smaller than expected. (Guess they figured I wouldn't know the difference. However, I spent the last 30yr in the Washington, DC area & dined at some of the finest restaurants the world has to offer.) When the steak did arrive, it was no where near "medium-well" as I requested, but closer to rare. Upon arrival I requested a martini made with my favorite Gin, which is Boodles. I was told that they did have Boodles. They brought the martini & it had been made with vodka."

  • "I hadn't had a really great steak in a year, so I had to go to the Chophouse on date night with my wife. It, once again, did not disappoint. The Cowboy Steak, bone in ribeye, was flavorful and well prepared. My wife loved her filet and lobster cake surf and turf. The wine selection is incredible. When we have a special occasion, this is the spot!"

  • "We went for my son's 18th birthday. We had the best food and service of any restaurant we had been in the Charleston area. We will definitely be going back."

  • "After a month of being grandparents we were ready for some adult time. The Chop House fit the bill nicely. We invited two other colleagues to join us. From the Valet to the end our experience was top notch. Upon arrival our server Matt greeted us warmly. The attention to detail was perfect. Not too hovering not to distant, just right. The food preparation was a 10. We all had the blackened bass with one side of cream corn, delicious. Fish is sometimes difficult to prepare and gets over done, so accolades to the Chef. Thank you to Tim and his staff for our much needed and relaxing time. Vicki and Jed Smith"

  • "My wife and I often dine at Chop House on trips through Charleston, and although we've never been disappointed, our most recent dinner was the best we've every had. Partly it was the experience -- we can make reservations like adults instead of having to get a beeper and waste time at their no-reservation sister restaurant Tidewater Grill. Partly it was our waiter, who was clearly a professional. Then then there was the dinner itself. Oysters for me as an appetizer, a small filet mignon for my wife, beef wellington for me, and a loaded baked potato and mushrooms on the side, complemented by an excellent bottle of wine. Every menu item was perfectly prepared, the service was wonderful, and our overall dining experience was excellent."

  • "Dinner was excellent. The team of waiters and waitresses at the Chop House are second to none. They are managed by Tim Kirby - one heck of a nice guy and the best and most attentive manager in town."

  • "We went to The Chop House to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The service and food were, as always, excellent. Our waitress, Sherry, was very friendly and attentive. We always look forward to dining here and we were not disappointed. It's an experience not found elsewhere in West Virginia."

  • "My husband and I visited the Chop House on New Year's Eve for a quiet, private celebration. The service was outstanding with just the perfect amount of care given to us by our server. We will definitely return on another special occasion. The only downside to the evening was the fact that we were seated near the emergency exit which was used by patrons to leave the restaurant. I found this to be distracting."

  • "This was our first experience at Chop House. The menu said prepare to be pampered and we were. The reservations before us were slow to leave so we were a few minutes late getting our table. The hostesses kept apologizing for the delay. Things like that happen. The experience was worth the wait. The food was delicious and the waitress was very helpful in decisions and provided good service. We will go there again for special events. Can't afford it on a regular rotation, but it was very much worth it."

  • "My Girlfriend and I had a 5:15 reservation before the Keith Urban concert. The staff was great! The food was even better. I had the Cowboy steak and my girlfriend had the salmon. They were both perfect. We were able to enjoy the dinner and still make it to the concert on time. I recommend no less than a hour and thirty minutes before a concert to enjoy this great restaurant."

  • "The best thing about the Chop House is the service. It is attentive without being overbearing. The wait staff is obviously well trained and professional, a rare find in this area. The food is consistently good here. High quality meats and seafood cooked in straightforward preparations. Prices are reasonable given the quality and quantity of the dishes. The only issue at the last visit was the béarnaise sauce had a skin that formed on the top as it set in the serving boat and the wine reduction sauce was not served initially at presentation. This may have been intentional, as I found it slightly bitter and astringent when the server finally brought it. Mainstreet Ventures knows what they are doing. Many people, including me miss Gratzi."

  • "With good service and food, you will enjoy the dinner I think, except the final bill."

  • "Spent $120 on dinner for 2. Did not have any alcoholic or dessert. The food was good but way over priced. Too much money for a 5 small shrimp cocktail, small filet , a piece of salmon and a "shared" dish of 10 asparagus spears was simply criminal! The plating was simple and the sides are purchase separately and plated separately from the entree. In a 5 star Pittsburgh restaurant will have the same meal, nicely plated, bottle of wine, dessert and coffee, for the same price! If this is Charleston's best then I recommend an early dinner at the Outback on the other side of the mall. Same meal, better price and decent ambiance at an early time completes the ambiance."

  • "We celebrated a birthday and I put that in my reservation. When we walked in and introduced ourselves everyone on the staff new it was my wife's birthday. The service was great and the food was excellent. Much to our surprise we receieved a birthday discount. Overall great experience. We'll be back."

  • "This restaurant is outstanding and absolutely worth the price. My wife and I have been several times, Mose recent 11/14 for our anniversary. Each time we go, we try to order something different but it's so hard because everything is so wonderful!! The wine list is extensive and the servers are very knowledgable about pairings, etc. We live an hour away from The Chop House but it is well worth the drive. We will absolutely be going back for our next special occasion or night on the town!!! Thank you again for the outstanding food and excellent service!!"

  • "My husband and I have been here before it's normally the best food and service in town. This particular night the service was not on point. My husbands drink was let be empty several times and had to ask for complementary bread basket. Our server seemed to be in another world that night. You'd think paying $50-70 a plate you would receive the best service but unfortunately we did not."
