We normally go here for the
Chocolate Martini's however we went for dinner and it was as expected, very good. We normally get the Chocolate Fondue for two, which includes fruit, marshmallows, pretzel sticks, and some other items, but this time we went for separate deserts, which were fabulous."

Nice menu choices and calorie
noted on some dishes; we tried two of the <500 and both were excellent, and saved room for some of their fabulous desert choices!"

We originally went to Chocolate
Bar to try the drinks (which are amazing), but we keep coming back for the food. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is energetic and inviting, and we always love our meals. From the flatbreads to full entrees, Chocolate Bar does not disappoint. The buffalo chicken flatbread is a personal favorite of mine."

The chocolate martinis are always
a treat ... except I swear they are now served in smaller glasses, which makes them uber overpriced now! But delis, none the less. And, of course, all the other food - with a hint of chocolate here and there, is the best! It was great for a bit to eat with my girls on a rainy week night - much less busy then on the weekend."
Dined on 4/3/2014
Choco bar doesn't disappoint in
terms of food or atmosphere, HOWEVER, my one critique would be to better insulate the front door area, or provide more heat. I've been here twice during the cold months and was made to sit in the very front of the restaurant both times, with nothing more than a curtain between me and the elements every time someone opened the door (which was a lot)! The space heater provided was mostly a joke, and being so cold can make it difficult to enjoy a good meal..."

We went here after a show at
Playhouse Square and ordered chocolate covered strawberry martinis, which were delicious and had a good amount of alcohol. I also ordered mac and cheese (which is not even as good as the velveeta box stuff) and crab cakes (which were decent, but not as extraodinary as they should be for $12). The spiked hot chocolate is great, they use real whipped cream and the fruit they serve is fresh. What I wish we would have done is eat dinner somewhere else, go to the show and then for dessert and drinks here; the food is just not that great. PS The bathrooms are sub-par."

The Chocolate Bar is a restaurant
I have seen on many occasions while walking to E. 4th Street, but had never tried. I am so glad that I finally did. My first perception was that it was just a place for a chocolate martini during Happy Hour or a place for dessert. How different my experience was. The food is excellent. My guest and I split the Pesto Salmon and the Shrimp Scampi Flatbread. Both dishes were delicious and the Salmon had a puff pastry to accompany it. The Flatbread was light and a perfect combination of shrimp and asiago cheese. Atmosphere was wonderful and our table looked into the atrium of the Arcade. Perfect place for a special evening. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning."

Oh, Chocolate Bar... Your
delicious martinis are no longer enough to sustain more than one star. My husband and I went tonight to kick off Cleveland Restaurant Week. When my husband asked the server, Dmitry, what he recommended. He gave us the least passionate answer ever and didn't even begin to sell us on any of the dishes. I had the mac and cheese and it was absolutely tasteless. Now I sit here waiting for him to take this awful dish away and I've been waiting for a while... Long enough to write this review. We won't be returning again. Update! So he came to the table and didn't bother questioning why I had 2/3 of my entree left. Oy vey!"

Our server was fantastic, however,
everything we ordered took forever. It took 10-15 minutes each time we ordered a drink and our food took over an hour. Our party of 4 was seated around 7:45 and ordered drinks. The first wait was not so bad but after that it was crazy. We ordered food and did not get served till after 9:30! The server came back to the table after bringing all of our food except the steak that was ordered, and told us the cook just dropped it on the floor and another one had to be made. After waiting so long my friend was notably upset. They offered to make him a salad since we had a show to get to. Then he came back 2 minutes later with the steak and said he took another guests dinner from the window. Mmm, floor steak."

I dined here on a quiet Tuesday
night to celebrate my highly anticipated 21st birthday. To start off I had a chocolate caramel martini, which was excellent! This was probably the best martini I have ever had. For dinner I had the Jack Daniels sirloin and my friend had the mexican spiced rubbed pork loin. The sirloin was amazing it was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The sirloin came with sweet potato fries, asparagus, and this delicious maple sauce. My friend and I both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The highlight of our meal was the amazing dessert. I never knew dessert could be this delicious!!!!! My friend had the strawberry and chocolate crepe and I had the molten lava cake with coffee ice cream. Good food. Okay service."

I went on a Tuesday around 6:45
with a friend for dinner. The restaurant was VERY empty, with a few people finishing up after-work drinks. My friend and I were given a table to the side, away from everyone. This wasn't too bad, except the area was FREEZING, and there was a space heater attempting to make it more comfortable. Our waiter came up, brought water and said he'd be back shortly since he saw us talking. 1 hr later, I finally got up to ask for someone to take our orders. They were very apologetic and quickly came to take care of us. From there, the service was fine, but the food was mediocre at best. Clearly not very fresh, it seemed like run of the mill, average food. Not going back."
Dined on 2/4/2014
Food wasn't too bad but we got sat
next to the door. Every time it opened which was frequent cold air rushed in. Not very comfortable."
Dined on 1/31/2014
This is a great place to stop in
for lunch. They have a nice selection of soup, salad, and sandwiches (or a combination of any of these). One of our favorite items to get is the Buffalo Chicken Cobb salad. So good!"
Dined on 1/31/2014
I went here with my boyfriend for
our anniversary. The food we got was well prepared, if a little overpriced, and was out to us fairly quickly. The dessert (the real reason to go to any place with Chocolate in the name, in this reviewers opinion) was DELICIOUS. It was overpriced, but I would go back here."

My husband and I went to dinner
Saturday night with another couple to celebrate a birthday. We don't get downtown all that often for dinner but we love the Chocolate Bar and my girlfriend and I especially enjoy the creme brulee martinis ! Atmosphere was nice, drinks were a bit stronger than usual, food was delicious, waitress was not the best. I would come back again for the martinis for sure, however !"
Dined on 1/25/2014
It took a bit for our server to
greet us. We ordered water and coffee. Neither cup was filled more than 2/3 of the way...what a waste. Our entrees didnt come for over 20 mins after we FINISHED our app. I had the white chocolate pasta with steak, ordered medium rare and it was well done and tasteless. The corn/red pepper meddley was good, but overall the food was lukewarm. My dates food was fair, but salty. When I told the server about the steak, he said he would get a mananger who never came over, then we ordered dessert and told him we were in a time crunch for a show. It took 15 minutes for a piece of cheesecake and creme brulee. Needless to say we were late for the show and the managed never came. They deducted 2.99 from check"

Everything worked out perfectly
for us to eat in 75 minutes and walk back to a 7:30 p.m. show at the Palace Theater! There were so many great options on the menu it was hard to choose! The creative use of chocolate in unconventional ways intrigued us. All four of us loved our meals. We got one of the famous hot chocolates and a dessert, too! I can't wait to go again and try new dishes!"
Dined on 1/10/2014
It can be a little cold in the
winter next to all of the windows, but they were great enough to turn a space heater on for us! Other than that - our food was terrific and the drinks were just as good!"
Dined on 1/4/2014
Interesting dishes. We loved the white chocolate cream pasta. The cobb salad was huge and delicious. The other entrees we ordered were on the small side. But that was ok because we had room for dessert. The bananas foster was exceptional. The chocolate drinks were a little too sweet for my taste. Overall a worthwhile experience. Will not rush to go back."
Dined on 1/2/2014
We had tickets to the theater and
went to lunch at the Chocolate Bar. Great experience! Our waiter was wonderful and kept checking with us to see if we needed anything, but was not overly pesty. We had the best martinis and the food was wonderful. We had a party of seven people, all getting something different to eat from the menu. If you love chocolate--its the place to go. If you don't love chocolate--its still the place to go, except you'll wish that you did love chocolate."

I made the reservation on line
several days ahead of time. I talked on the phone the day before and was confirmed for 2:00. As my party of 6 was driving to the Chocolate Bar I was called to be told that the restaurant is not open at 2:00. So,after receiving online confirmation and verbal confirmation I was told we wouldn't be able to come at 2:00. We had people in our party from 3 hours away that came to enjoy the day with us there so this was not very good news. They finally told us it was no problem to come at 3:00 which was the original time I requested yet was told before it wasn't available. The food and coffee was cold. The waitress disappeared for over 20 minutes even though it wasn't busy."

After the theater, we went to The
Chocolate Bar. A few of us had been there before and the others were anxious to try it. The food was great and the martinis were as wonderful as always. Our server was terrific and was attentive but the arrival time of the drinks and food was very slow. It took over an hour for our food to arrive although it was hot and tasty. Things took so long we opted not to stay for dessert which is, along with the martinis, the highlight of going there. I would still go back as I have not had that problem before and would recommend it to others who are looking for chocolate heaven. or just a fun time."
Dined on 12/29/2013
We were excited to try this
restaurant-how could a place that has that much chocolate be bad? We were disappointed. One of us had the steak and it was so dry and tough it had to be sent back. They did send out another which was moister, but still flavorless. Another ordered a grilled sandwich. The sandwich did not resemble the picture on the menu at all. Another disappointment. And as for service, I ordered a second beer and we got the check before I got the beer. The desserts however were good. Not a great dining experience overall. We won't be returning."

Visited with friends in November
while our teenage daughters attended a concert at House of Blues. Picked it because of its close proximity to HOB. Nice atmosphere. I made this reservation weeks ahead so was a little disappointed to be put in front right space where it was quite cold every time the door opened. They had a space heater but it didn't warm the space enough at times. Appetizers were good. Chocolate martinis were yummy! Service was excellent... she was patient, very sweet & gave good recommendations when asked. Meals were ok, nothing special. Steak sandwich was pretty skimpy on the steak part. Would go back for drinks & appetizers in the future."

the desert selection at this
restaurant is unbelievable. I had the Peanut Butter Mud after my Peppercorn Strip - my mouth was dancing. Our server was excellent - she was fun and engaging. I had been to the Cleveland Chocolate Bar for lunch several times and have very good experiences This was a wonderful dining night for myself and my associates."

This has been my fifth time eating
at The Chocolate Bar and each time I go I hope it is better than the last. Finally I have given up and will not return. Whether it be steak, pork, appetizers or dessert-----everything is mediocre. This time the filet was tough and that is hard to do with a filet! The salmon was overcooked. Their cocoa encrusted pork is always good so that is a positive. Desserts are way below expectations and for a chocolate bar, that is real disappointing. It was worth a try but it is now time for me to move on to a place where I know the food will be better."

Great martinis and desserts.
Cheesecake is fantastic. Skip the other food."

Visited the Chocolate Bar for
lunch before the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert. This was our first visit for lunch - two others had been for dinner. The lunch selections we had were excellent (the Steak BLT sandwich and the Chicken Pesto Flatbread), and dessert was awesome as always. Had a nice table tucked away in the corner of the restaurant that allowed for nice conversation to happen. Had made a reservation through OpenTable, but found that we didn't really need it on this particular day. The reservation was ready and waiting in their system. I would highly recommend a visit to the Chocolate Bar! A great asset for downtown Cleveland..."

love this place....took my friend
there for her birthday as she had never been. ended up with a server that needed major training of the simplest kind....like when you bring apps to the table dont let them sit for 1/2 hours before bringing them cold; when you bring soup bring a soup spoon; when you bring apps bring plates; when you bring something that is to have 3 dips with it bring the dips......i could go on but wont.......very sad. but on an upside the manager stepped in and rescued us for the most part! will go back over and over again just because the menu is to die for!"

Food was okay. Not creatve enough.
A little pricey for the quality. Kids like it bc it has chocolate & ice cream. Server wasn't very good. He obviously wanted to be somewhere else. Salads were ok but nothing special. This is my second time here. I doubt if I come back. There are too many other places w/really good food to go to."

Just had dinner at Chocolate Bar,
the food was great. It was soo cold on Saturday (11/23) that we felt the brisk cold every time someone opened the door. The curtains that they have hanging around the door does nothing!! And they have ONE little space heater in that whole section, it works when you have it pointed right on you. In the beginning of dinner we pointed the heater towards us and then halfway through, the hostess moved the heater from us because she seated a group at a table next to us. If heat is such an issue in that area, then the restaurant should 1) buy more space heaters to keep ALL customers warm or 2) build a solid door between the outside and hostess stand to keep the weather out."

I took my 13 year old daughter
here for a late dessert after a Cav's game. She loved the dessert! Service was just OK, we had to wait quite a while for our check, and finally had to ask someone else if they could get it for us when we were done and the server never came around to see if we needed anything or to check on how things where. A great place to go get a dessert, we haven't tried the food so I can't really comment on that."

We came for Sunday brunch early in
the afternoon and it was not very crowded. The waiter was very attentive. The food was delicious. The French toast was one of the best I've ever eaten and everyone in our party was very happy with their selections."

The Chocolate Bar is one of our
favorites - there is something for everyone. On a date, with friends, girls' night out, whatever the occasion - it fits."

Great for specula occasions! We
started the night at the Chocolate Bar for my friend's bachelorette party. It is in a great location- downtown very close to the casino. I'm glad I made a reservation because it was packed! Even though it was so busy, the service was great! Our waitress was very attentive and had a smile on her face the whole night. The martinis are delicious. I would highly recommend chocolate carmel pretzel- absolutely awesome! The food is good, however, nothing special. I think this is a perfect place for just drinks or dessert."
Dined on 11/9/2013
Really great food, but our server
took forever to come take our order, and he seemed to disappear right when we needed him. He was nice, but just not available or attentive. There was a lot of waiting. I noticed we weren't the only table who had this problem. The place was busy, but not so crowded that tables would be forgotten. Also, where we sat was a little drafty. Even though they have a heavy curtain by the door to catch drafts (great idea!), some cold air still got through."

Five of us dined at chocolate bar
before heading to art with a twist as part of our girls night out. We had an awesome time. The food was amazing with hints of chocolate in many of the menu items from amazing petitioners to, of course, desserts! Do not skip out on trying a chocolate martini- there is a flavor for everyone! !"
Dined on 11/8/2013
First time visit to the Chocolate
Bar. Enjoyed the food and the Martini List is GREAT! My opinion, lower the alcohol content and lower the price. You could try more flavors that way."

Great food with fair prices.
Always a great place to go before a show or game or after for dessert! Fast and friendly service."

The Chocolate Bar is a Cleveland
gem. Great food and good service. Always a good choice for an enjoyable night out."
