"We went to Chocolate Bar before a show at Playhouse Square for dinner and afterwards for dessert and had very different experiences. We didn't actually get to have dinner, because the waitress took nearly 45 minutes to take our order. So we ordered appetizers, which were very good - in particular, we were all shocked by how good sweet potato fries dipped in chocolate were. We also were brought a wrong order, but that appetizer (baker brie) was still delicious.

We wanted to give a different waitress a chance, and so we came back after the show for dessert. The hot chocolate was very good (if served a little lukewarm) and the server was much better this time. The Peanut Butter Mud was spectacular."

"Food took a while to be brought out, my wifes chicken was breaded and fried instead of grilled which is what she ordered. But, they did correct it, and Mgr and server were apologetic.

Good place for 50 something year old parents and college aged kids. Hip site in Cleveland. Stay downtown and you can walk to restaurant. Good bar as well."

"Nothing special. Service was ok food ok. Wine list was less than average. Asked for a bottle of pino noir was served a bottle i could buy at giant eagle for five dollars.I guess they are more known for their martinis and deserts."

"Food so so.. very disappointed with the deserts. Had heath bar torte but couldn't taste the heath bar and carrot cake was dry and unflavorful. We sat near the door and everytime someone came in, a shot of cold air chilled our bodies. The only bright spot was our server Laura... very friendly and accommodating."

"The first time I'd eaten her was after a night of cocktails along East Fourth. I remembered the mac 'n cheese as incredibly delicious. Well, I ordered it last night from their "mac 'n cheese bar," and I gotta say, it wasn't as delicious as I remembered. I'd give it a 5 out of 10 (I had shrimp and roasted red peppers in it). Good, but not great. But you see, you shouldn't come to The Chocolate Bar for fantastic food: It's all about the martinis. They don't disappoint. At the waiter's suggestion (he was great), I ordered a special martini that tasted like a shamrock shake. So delicious! The next one I had was the peanut butter martini. Outstanding, & at $10 a pop, they should be. Next time, I'll eat at Greenhouse or Lola, and drink here. Yum!"
