  • "I had the Ceasar salad with a fresh piece of salmon that was cooked to absolute perfection. We tried a new wine as well and was very very impressed at the quality/price. We went on Wednesday, for the 1/2 off up to $20 of a bottle of wine. Wednesdays are great nights to try really nice wines there. Christine, you are THE BEST!"

  • "We were a group of 10 and seated upstairs. The Chew Chew made us feel like a private event with impeccable service and fantastic food. There was much food and appetizer sharing and everyone enjoyed all of the delicious tastes. I eat out often and The Chew Chew is one of my favorite places for inventive, high-quality food. I would recommend this wonderful restaurant to everyone."

  • "I have eaten at the former Chew Chew location and had fond memories of eating there, so I decided to try the new location. Upon arrival we were seated upstairs. The first floor has a great atmosphere, noise level, wood floors and an open kitchen,. The second floor felt like a different restaurant. The carpet was very stained and gave the restaurant a dirty feel. During my meal a worker was next to my table with a carpet sweeper--a big turn-off. I ordered the scallops--a $25 entree. It looked more like an appetizer as there were only 3 scallops on the plate. I am not a big woman--I could have eaten two of these entrees. I went home hungry. It's unlikely that I will visit the Chew Chew again."

  • "We had not been to Chew Chew since they were on the other side of the tracks, and decided to give it a go again. I forgot how great their food really is; the new location is much nicer and roomier with a very nice, well-stocked bar. I liked the vibe of the place, not stuffy but upscale dining options. Apps: mussels and the bacon-wrapped dates. We split a wedge salad, which was so good with a nice blue cheese chunks and buttermilk dressing. The macadamia breaded chicken w/mango salsa on top is perfectly paired with mashed sweet potatoes and broccoli. My date had a special NY strip w/crab meat, with asparagus and red-pepper mashed potatoes (no leftovers). We were too full to try dessert but they sounded very good. Delicious food."

  • "The owner is updating the menu more often and introducing some really great flavor pairings, while keeping the old favorites. Our server was timely and efficient, professional and friendly. Bus service was discrete and swift. We started with fennel sausage and portobello flatbread (pizza)... Delicious! My husband and I shared simple spinach salad with candied pecans- perfect. Daugher had sirloin off kids menu and son ordered addictive penne pasta with bacon, chicken and Gorgonzola sauce. I had the scallops on polenta... Perfect comfort food and so glad I splurged!! Husband had Shepard pie, in honor of st pats. We finished with cream brûlée. What a great and relaxing meal!! Well done chew chew!!"

  • "The menu here was fantastic! There was a lot to choose from. The friend Brussels sprouts were wonderful. Entrees themselves were ok. Sauces were either too heavy or not enough flavor in two of our courses. Overall, the food was good, but not great. I would give it another try though, and order something different. Service was very good."

  • "I live nearby and had heard wonderful things about the Chew Chew. I checked out their website and both the menu and ambiance intrigued me. My 21-year-old son had recently returned from a study abroad experience in the heart of France and was even more interested in meals as an experience. The food, our booth with the feeling of being on a dining rail car, and the friendly and expert service were wonderful. My son had the fish tacos with shrimp preceded by a wonderful spinach salad and I had the spaghetti squash with Bolognese sauce, pesto, pancetta (I think), nuts, and vegetables preceded by the butter wedge salad accompanied by Stout and Dark Horse. The Chew Chew exceeded our expectations (and they were high!) so we'll be back and often."

  • "One of the many nice things about the Chew Chew is the special menu and theme party offered during Mardi Gras. The restaurant is bedecked with beads, the staff dons masks and on certain nights a costumed fortune teller visits patrons' tables. We sip a sazerac and wander through a small tasting plate of oysters, a cup of spicy (yet beautifully balanced) gumbo, a delightfully moist blackened redfish and a trio of warm beignets dusted with powdered sugar artfully poised in a swirl of raspberry coulis. We dined with a large group of friends on the upper level and received excellent service. Short of hopping a plane to New Orleans, this is a great way to chase away the winter blues!"

  • "We went for the Mardi Gras specials and were not disappointed! Jambalaya, gumbo, crab cakes, crawfish etouffee all excellent and the desserts were out of this world. Beignets, bananas foster and a bourbon pecan pie that was one of the best I ever had. Loved the Hurricanes too! All the staff dressed in their Mardi Gras attire, beads, the whole nine yards. We had a wonderful time. Kudos to all at The Chew Chew!"

  • "I've been there a number of times and always great food. However, for Valentine Day we had the special and the meat was terrible. It tasted great however there was too much fat and connecting tissue. When delivered to the table I commented that we would not be able to eat all of it. There was barely good meat for one. Fat and grissel dominated the plate. It was nicely chared, and did taste great but unetible."

  • "The Chew Chew was an excellent choice for a nice Valentine's Day dinner away from the kids. We had the Valentine's Day menu and everything was prepared to perfection. From the appetizer to the desert. I was extremely satisfied not only with the quality of the food but also with the attentive, friendly, and helpful staff. We will definitely be frequenting The Chew Chew in the future."

  • "My wife and I went for dinner. We shared some oysters. I had wine, my wife had a margarita. They were totally enjoyable. We both then shared a burger meal and the skirt steak (with a parsley based marinade) meal. Both were excellent. It might have been the great beer that I ordered. I definitely recommend trying this restaurant."

  • "The food was very good. The service, provided by David, was excellent!!! My only beef would be that the food consistently got cold too quick. It came out piping hot but it was like warm in no time."

  • "Our group of 4 long-time friends try to meet for dinner a few times a year. We have tried other restaurants but we always come back to the Chew Chew, The hostess hung up our coats and showed us to a booth which I had requested when I made the reservation. Our server was friendly, attentive & very knowledgable about the food & wine. Even though we were across from the open kitchen window, we had no problem conversing. There was no pressure to order right way or to leave when we were done. For a Saturday night it was not as busy as usual as the weather was very cold & snowy. 2 of us had the Salmon (cooked medium) which was sushi grade and delicious. For dessert we shared a small key lime pie - WOW! Loved it! This is a gem of a restaurant."

  • "When we invited I our friends to I dine with us they scoffed at us because of the name of the place. Weren't they surprised with the wonderful dining experience we shared! We had the best service, nice drinks and great food. The almond pesto trout special of the evening was delicious! The lake perch was very good - although it honestly didn't seem like lake perch, more like cod, but whatever it was, it was good. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere was delightful. Thanks to our Open Table reservation, we had the best table in the place. There was a buzz in the room, but a pleasant one and not at all overpowering. Great energy! We shall return!"

  • "I had been to Chew Chew before, only this time it fell just a bit short the mark from my prior experience. I wasn't really a fan of the upstairs seating. It felt a little empty and probably the reason for such a long drink wait and for my food coming out a tad cool. Had I known I would have requested to be seated downstairs. I countered with heading down to the bar area after the meal was complete. The food taste and presentation is always wonderful and I will continue to go back!"

  • "Always have a great meal at the Chew Chew. One of my favorite entrees is the skirt steak. Steak is cooked to your specifications and very tender. Can never go wrong either with their specials and pasta/vegetarian dishes. Dishes are always flavorful, staff are attentive, and noise level is low so that you can talk to your dinner partner."

  • "We had been to this restaurant several times several years ago and really like it. The menu has changed (pricier), and we had to wait a very long time for our order to be taken and then a very long time for our food to arrive. It even took a long time for them to bring bread to the table. Would not go back."

  • "Parking is a problem. Nice interior. Clean. Be prepared to walk up a couple flights of stairs. Staff was very friendly. We were stuck in Holiday Magic at the Zoo traffic and they held our reservations. The food was good. Try the Veal Meatballs. The double pork chop was grilled to perfection but it was more like 1 1/2. Every other place I've had a double pork chop it was at least a 1/2 inch thicker. Escargot was just okay. For only having 6 taps the beer selection was very good. All craft brews. As far as value it is a little overpriced. It's nice if you are in the area and don't mind spending a few bucks extra."
