Diner Reviews
  • "I'm not sure if it was just a bad day. Food was not very good for lunch . We had two lunch salads that clearly tasted that they were made day before (tasted like the refrigerator). Ordered desert (brownie sundae x 1)and waited 10-15 min before we said forget it, paid the bill, and left. The espresso was very good however."

  • "I had dinner at The Century House last Saturday with my family. We had a good time and were pleasantly surprised. The chef made a special vegetarian dish for one member. The service was professional and attentive. Food was very good. Restaurant was eye appealing."

  • "Overall we enjoyed the dining experience. The wait staff was very attentive from the moment we walked in the door. The mood and atmosphere was a good combination of trendy in a rustic setting, casual to dressy, nice piano music and not too loud. We could have a normal conversation and did not have to listen to others. Food a bit pricey for the portion size but worth it if you like a lot of attention without intrusion while eating. I had the pan seared snapper and it was done just right. My husband had a steak that was cooked as asked, however it did not have a lot of flavor. The sides were delicious and in good proportion to the meats. I would only go there for a special occasion due to the price of the main course dinners."

  • "We had a lovely meal, fairly priced, and served with attention to detail. Everything was exceptionally tasty and the waitstaff attentive. I will return to the Century House next time I am in the area."

  • "From beginning to end our entire party was thrilled with the restaurant choice. We were greeted immediately and you could feel that the staff truly appreciated us being there. Our waiter, Scott, was friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly accommodating. The rest of the service team was also very attentive, a finished dish didn't sit long. The food was simply fantastic! Every course was mouthwatering and delicious. I must make a special mention of the lobster chowder, it is hands down the best soup I've ever eaten. We will be back for certain!!!"

  • "Found it on trip advisor (as usual). Don't usually trust restaurants in hotels, but this one is an exception. Wonderful bar experience with ample taste testing, and some of the best food we've had. The halibut special with lobster Mac and cheese was to die for! Going back!"

  • "We had a business lunch by the fire with a client. I requetsted a private table. Private it was and comfortable. Our server was attentive but not obnoxious. Food was excellent. We each had specials. Also, we were able to linger and continue our conversation way after lunch was finished. A new favorite lunch spot."

  • "I love the combination of the ambience and incredible menu at the Century House. The restaurant is an antique farmhouse with original exposed timber framing, wide plank floors and a large stone hearth. The decor is period-appropriate. The bar is intimate and inviting. The wine list is broad and interesting. The service is friendly and professional. And best of all, the menu is decadent with a variety of both hearty and delicate choices that are also period-appropriate yet modern and expertly prepared. The Century House is a great place for anything from a romantic dinner for two to a business dinner for large parties. We love, love, love any opportunity to dine at The Century House. Highly recommended."

  • "Restaurant was a bit noisy as there appeared to be two parties going on. Soups we ordered were tasty but not HOT enough. There could have been more cole slaw on the fish and chips I ordered. Breading was hard and the fish a bit dry. Coffee and cheesecake were divine. Will try restaurant one more time."

  • "It was a long time ago that I was last here ( had moved out of the area) and that was at Easter time, some changes since then but it is still a great place to eat and the staff was really great and patient since my wife has medical problems and the wait staff was very helpful in aiding her with the menu. I didn't have to explain anything they seemed to know and this made it a pleasant evening for us both. I give it five stars out of five stars."

  • "I looked at the menu the the Century House on line and I was very much looking forward to having the Lobster and Crab Trap. I should have known that pancetta and blue cheese were a bad combo. While the crab cake was okay, everything else on the plate was incredibly salty. To the point that it was almost inedible. I was very disappointed."

  • "Arrived for a 6:15 p.m. reservation and were not seated until nearly 30 minutes later. The server did not introduce himself, and did not connect with this table of customers. The “bowl” of soup was very good, however, it really is a cup served in a bowl. Bread was not placed on the table until the dinner arrived. Meals were attractively presented. Lobster tail dinner was very good; the surf & turf (lobster tail and filet mignon) dinners were disappointing, the filet was over cooked for the “medium” that was requested and the beef had a dense pasty texture. The Cape Cod Pot dinner was very good. Coffee and dessert was good. A disappointing evening…service lackluster and dinner not what you would expect. Will not rush back."

  • "Visiting my son at RPI and we wanted to try something new. Found good reviews on open table, but ended up disappointed. My daughter had a nut allergy and her choices became very narrow. Even after explaining her allergy they served her a salad with a nut based dressing. Even the bad had nuts. The meal itself was mediocre by my standards. Needless to say we did not stay for dessert. I would not go back there again."

  • "During the past two months while my Mom has stayed with us we have gone out to eat three to four times a week. The Century House has been our best experience yet! Special services were required and they were provided flawlessly. The courses were brought to the table at just the right times. It was delicious. Most important was my Mom was happy."

  • "Each time I come here the food seems to get better, the chef is always experimenting. Service is always attentive and friendly. A great place for friends to catch up. But the fact that for each meal sold another is donated to those in need gives the Century House a uniqueness that keeps me coming back."

  • "In my mind, this was always the place "where my parents went to dinner" - without us kids. But recently a friend suggested we have dinner here. Now I see why my folks liked this place. Excellent food in the cozy dining room. We were seated in front of the lovely fireplace. Service was good and the food was excellent. Young people are missing out if they don't give The Century House a try.I had the crabcakes. Fresh tasting and perfectly spiced, these hit the spot. My friends gave high marks to the gnocchi and the pork sliders."

  • "Companion and I went to Century House on 10/22/13, week of the 3-course dinner. There was a choice of only 2 entrees which were (1) Half a chicken or (2) Gnocchi dinners. I thought the choices to be inadequate and would have preferred at least a selection of 4. Since we had chicken for a few of the previous days, we ordered the gnocchi. We found it to be rather bland and pasty. We were disappointed but not discouraged enough that we would not return another time and order from the regular menu."

  • "There's not a lot to say about the Century House. It's been a staple of the community for as long as I can remember. But it's one of those classic places where you can get a relaxing and delicious meal. The decor is very inviting and the wait staff is friendly and efficient. We truly enjoyed our dining experience and will be back again soon."

  • "The Century House has large and small rooms to accommodate groups but its greatest attraction for us is the Colonial feel of the dining room and bar. We don't have to travel to Williamsburg or Philadelphia for the ambience. We have hosted large and small groups there but the greatest attraction is the dining room and bar."
