  • "Best kept secret in Virginia Beach! Want to be selfish and keep this location "our" little secret, however that would be unfair to the owners and fantastic staff who work so hard to make every moment of our visit a warm and inviting one. The food, service and ambiance were top notch. Very classy, yet not stuffy. The Cellar has made it to our "short" list of places to dine."

  • "I like it here because it's different the menu changes, services is good and you are eating in a cellar.. If your first time I suggest a Wednesday as 1/2 bottles of wine and they have a very nice wine selection.."

  • "the ambiance was superb.....a real hidden gem in Virginia Beach. our servers (lisa and andy) were friendly and the consummate professionals. an added treat was the maître d' stopping by with champagne and congratulating us on our anniversary. A GREAT DINING EXPERIENCE."

  • "The location is a little unusual, but the restaurant is beautiful, the food was both tasty, and interesting with some unusual options. The service was excellent, and on top of it all the prices were reasonable, and the portions nicely sized. If anything was unusual it was that the place wasn't far more busy than it was."

  • "My family had the salmon, the scallops & the mahi-mahi. They were all outstanding. Our appetizers were delicious and the desserts were worth saving room for. Extensive wine list, gave us many choices."

  • "The menu is limited but provides a good selection from sea food to steak. Everything thing was good, from the appetizers to the desserts. The chef's makes a nice twist to tuna bites. The scallops and salmon were cooked just right (not over cooked and dry like many places). Very good wine but limited to mainly CA and FRA. The ambiance is quiet, romantic and sophisticated that gives the impression that one is any where in Spain, France or Italy. The smell of antique furniture and classical music add to the ambiance. Host paid attention to detail by acknowledge patrons' special event."

  • "Every once and a while you come across a restaurant where everything stands head and shoulders above the others , The Cellars is that restaurant . Having been to just about every restaurant in the Norfolk/ Va Beach area, the food quality , the presentation and the taste all deserve 5 stars - I had the scallops and they were perfected cooked and presented with accompanying side items that complimented and greatly enhanced the dish. Service was friendly and the manager stops by the table to make sure everything is perfect - Our server was terrific and offered suggestions - The setting could not be better and it really makes one feel that you are a one of a kind place and you are. We left only wanting to come back soon - truly spectacular."

  • "First visit to The Cellars will definitely not be our last! We were warmly greated and seated right away by our friendly hostess. Our waitress welcomed us as soon as we were settled, drink orders were taken & received quickly! Since it was our first visit we relied heavily on our waitress' recommendations. We were not disappointed!!! Each course was delicious and expertly prepared. All the staff from the hostess, waitress, to the friendly gentlemen refilling our water glasses and even the manager wished us a happy anniversary! That small detail added the finishing touch to a wonderful evening!"

  • "I took my wife to The Cellars after returning home from my last deployment. After hearing rave reviews from some close friends, it seemed the obvious choice. We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation and were promptly seated. After 15 minutes at the table, we had not seen a waiter. Finally when our waiter arrived, our drinks took another 15-20 minutes for the wine flights. The food was good, but not on par for a $250 bill at the end. It is a wonderful concept, although they need to either adjust the quality of food & service or the associated prices."

  • "The Cellars Restaurant was so far above our expectations. Everything was absolutely wonderful. From the minute we walked in they addressed by name (we had a reservation), from our server, Wilson asking us about being empty nesters (he must have read my email), to Wilson's recommendations....to the food - and beyond. This was such a wonderful dinner. Justin gave us a tour of the Bed and Breakfast. Breathtaking is all we can say. Again, thank you - thank you - thank you!"

  • "Our second visit confirmed our first impression of the Cellars: outstanding food, service, atmosphere. I can't think of a better place to celebrate our anniversary. The seafood entrees we had were perfect, and the brulee dessert delicious. The quiet neighborhood atmosphere is a special bonus...a nice relief during the busy tourist season in VB. What a treat for the folks staying in the B&B on site!"

  • "I took my girlfriend there to celebrate her birthday and was not disappointed. The atmosphere was very relaxing and welcoming. Starting with the hostess, the service was fabulous, the waitress was knowledgable and helpful with the menu/wine list, and who I am assuming was the manager came to our table to make sure we enjoyed our meal and even offered complimentary champagne for the special occasion! Every employee took care in making sure that we enjoyed every aspect of our visit, and they went above and beyond. Not to mention the food was phenomenal. Even the bread was out of this world. The only complaint I have is that I almost missed the opportunity to eat there because there isn't much advertising! More people need to know about it!"

  • "We enjoyed our visit to the Cellars. The ambiance was wonderful and the service superior. I ordered a glass of wine and was surprised to receive a miniature wine glass, so I will not order one next time. We were asked to take a tour of the Bed and breakfast and grounds after dinner, which we enjoyed. Some of the rooms felt a bit spooky however, but the house has been there since the 1800s so I expected that. I would highly recommend experiencing what the Cellars has to offer. It was a very nice evening."

  • "We have attended the Cellars many times for dinner, and have never been disappointed. This occasion was a charity wine event. As usual, the service, food quality, ambience, and general dining experience was top-notch. The chef is obviously an artisan who is dedicated to his craft. The wines we sampled were very good and were paired well with the food. All in all, one of the best dining experiences we have had. Definitely recommended for anyone looking for a romantic night out."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed dinner, the meal was awesome. A pleasure to dine out and enjoy a fabulous dinner. The scallops were cooked to perfection and seasoned impeccably. My wife had the Veal, another demonstration of quality and care in food preparation. "

  • "My wife picked out the restaurant for our 30th anniversary . I got the Osso Bucco which was 70% FAT. I also got the garden salad which was very bitter and bland. My wife got the Filet which had to be sent back twice because it wasn't cooked enough (ordered medium) The waiter had no clue about the wine list but was very polite . There is NO ambiance , it's just what it says a Cellar. I won't be back"

  • "My husband and I went there for our anniversary dinner and it was wonderful. The food was great. The wine list divine. The service was the best I've ever had and the quaint atmosphere was beautiful. One of the most romantic and unique restaurants I've been to in and out of the US."

  • "I was traveling for business and wanted great local food and found it here. It was very interesting to find, driving through a neighborhood, then walking completely around the building to find the entrance. I was about to give up because I didn't see a soul on the property. Then I finally saw a sign and went down to the Cellar (now it made sense). The staff was first class. The fondue app was delicious. I had the Osso Bucco which fell off the bone. I wrapped it up with vanilla and cinnamon ice cream with a red wine reduction that was amazing. The reviews I read encouraged me and I wasn't disappointed. The staff was gracious about my being there despite the 8:30 reservation. "

  • "We have always had a wonderful meal at The Cellars. Our only regret, this time, was that we did not have room for dessert. The Cellars is always on our list of favorite restaurants."

  • "This one-of-a-kind restaurant has the unique characteristics of 1) location (at a historic B & B in Va Bch. 2) Unsurpassed elegance in a romantic setting. and 3) Great gourmet food and wine. The bar is cozy and inviting; the staff congenial; the off-bar seating for groups or more casual diners interesting. We love it for a great spot to get good food, feel transported to a different time and place, and dine in quiet."

  • "I have been here twice now. The first time was perfect. This last time the food was perfect but the noise level was quite bad. They had a group of 8 or 10 sitting in the middle and because this place is a cellar, the acoustics are quite good. It made for communicating with my boyfriend very difficult and it was not the nice quiet experience that we had previously. I hope that they do not make this a habit. Large parties should be in private rooms. I'm sure that they don't want to turn people away BUT I don't think it's what all the other 2-person tables came there for. This is a nice place with a great atmosphere and food but the other night it was not enjoyable outside of the food."

  • "We arrived for 5PM reservation, we were the only ones there. Young lady at the front was very friendly. We were seated against a wall in back which would have been o.k. if the restaurant had been full but it felt closed in. Food was good but not excellent. The beans, kale, etc. was all together on plate with rockfish on top. Server was nice and manager came to table to say hello. When another family came in, we heard the server say to them "Let me tell you about our specials". We did not know there were any specials because we were not told of any. We only had the regular menu. Anyway, we MAY try it one more time!"

  • "We chose to come back for our anniversary dinner on 3/15/14. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in the door. I have forgotten the name of our server but she was wonderful. Short blond hair and a beautiful smile. There was another table being difficult and I watched her handle them like a pro. I joked with her and told her we would be her easy table, which she seemed to appreciate. The wine was very well priced and the food excellent. My steak was perfect and my wife's scallops were spot on. I will make sure to get back sooner than later. You won't be disappointed in a trip to The Cellars."

  • "I did my research to find a romantic restaurant for our 25th Anniversary. The reviews were great on The Cellars so I planned a surprise dinner for my husband. We invited another couple and we All loved The Cellars. The decor is beautiful, the service is impeccable, and the food is outstanding. There was not a crumb left on our plates. We had some delicious wine, all had different entrees, oyster appetizer, salads (yum), and 3 desserts to split. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is a true getaway and I love how is tucked away in a neighborhood. It also has a ramp for those who can not do stairs."

  • "My husband found The Cellars on Yelp and took me for our 2 year anniversary. The place is a little bit hard to find but it is definitely worth the search. They have menu items that change weekly! Their butter flavors change weekly! And the food was delicious! I will definitely be going back!"

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary at The Cellars. The staff-the hostess, the waiter (Wilson), and the general manager-made our evening special. The Cellars is a gorgeous, intimate restaurant. We began with the pork cheek confit. The meat melted in your mouth, and the tangy glaze complemented the sweetness of the pork. We split the fall greens, a nice salad with lavender-infused pears. The pecan-crusted trout sat atop couscous with sweet potatoes and a bed of fried kale. The mild trout, the flavorful kale, and the sweet couscous combine to create a thoroughly exceptional dish. My husband had the rockfish with white beans. Both the fish and the beans were outstanding. Creme brulee and deconstructed apple pie were great!"

  • "As newbies to the are we were looking for a special place to celebrate and hit a home run by choosing The Cellars. The food, wine, ambience, and service was all top notch. The front end hostess was weak but other than that truly a great spot in a very unique part of Virginia Beach. Highly recommended."

  • "The Cellars lived up to the amazing reviews it has received. Everything about it was perfect. The service was exquisite, warm and friendly without being intrusive. We were offered two wonderful wine choices that were not even on the list just based on a question my husband asked. We ordered one of them and it was a wonderful Malbec- among the best we have had. The cheese fondue appetizer wax perfect to start the meal with, and both of our entrees were beautifully presented and delicious. Dessert and port-a perfect end to a perfect evening."
