The CellarsWonderful little gemMy husband and I went to The Cellars last weekend for dinner and it was terrific! The staff was very pleasant, the food was delicious, and the setting was beautiful. The Ban-Ban shrimp appetizer was to die for! We will most certainly be going back soon!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was wonderful andThe food was wonderful and the presentation lovely. I will recommend to friends.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first visit and we willOur first visit and we will return! The menu was somewhat short on choices, BUT the food we ordered was great. Extensive wine list and a very quiet atmosphere. We ate in the main restaurant, there is also dining availability in a lounge and the patio (weather permitting).5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food, beautiful setting!Harry (the General Manager) greeted us when we walked in the door and started our experience off right. We dined in the private dining room and had fantastic food. My wife reports that her filet was the best she has had in 20 years, and she regularly gets filet mignon at the finest steakhouses in the country. I had a wonderful white Bordeaux, and Lisa (our server) was very attentive. Harry regularly checked back with us to ensure that we had an exquisite dining experience. The evening couldn't have been better!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat PlaceThis is our second time at the Cellars and we decided to bring family along for dinner. The menu has changed from last year, no more shrimp and grits or honey roasted chicken however this had no impact on the menu or specials. Everyone had a steak in some form or fashion and no one complained. All were cooked perfectly to the guest's request. Again, this was a very enjoyable dinner and experience.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful neighborhood gem!The drive to the Cellars was beautiful. Great neighborhood with well-establshed homes. The ambience had old world charm. The art work, decorations and tapestries provided a nice warm feel. The food was absolutely delicious. I asked for a bottle of reisling at the table and the selection they made was just perfect. The service was very good and everyone was very friendly. I will definitely return to The Cellars as well as highly recommend it to family and friends!!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic ambiance, friendly staffRecently this place obtained new owners, new chef, a new GM. Started with two apps I'd read about online, the shrimp and the day's special fondue. Shrimp is highly recommended, the fondue was just OK. Osso buco was one entree ordered and it was pretty good. I had the crab cakes; taste was OK with the very small bite I tried, but I was expecting lump crab meat not a pureed cake. Presentation was not befitting the entree price either. But I sent it back, and Harry happily offered to make things right by offering me the bone-in strip steak. It was cooked nicely, medium rare, and seasoned wonderfully. It just wasn't a very good cut -- so I'd give the meat cut 2 stars (it was truly below average), and preparation and taste 4.5 stars out of 5.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMNeighborhood surpriseLocated in the basement of Church Point Manor House, The Cellars is a hidden neighborhood surprise. The farm house was built in 1860. During the Revolutionary War the cellar was used for a hospital. The chairs were a bit uncomfortable but the ambiance was quite fitting. The wine list was decent. The menu had something for everyone. Our group tried many appetizers and dinner selections. Everyone one of them was fabulous! We will definitely be back to try a few more. One of the best places I've eaten in years.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful setting and amazing food!We celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary here and are from Chicago. The food here rivaled many restaurants in Chicago. You won't be disappointed! Try the fondue and ban ban shrimp for appetizers. Short ribs were amazing. Very intimate dining experience. Plan to come back again!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMRecommended to my foodie friendsNext day I recommended to my friends. Great food and atmosphere.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Chef...Compliments to the Chef! Our food at The Cellars was exquisite. The menu was tastful and not at all overwhelming. We loved the crabcakes and seasonal fondu. Everything was elegant and savory! Thank you for a thoughtful dining experience.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experienceService and food simply outstanding, coupled with the black raspberry cheese cake made for a superb dinning experience .5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWOWWow, great food and above-and-beyond service. My hubby said his steak meltedd in his mouth; the best he had. I had the catch of the day and everything was yummy. The new GM Harry, visited every table. He offered us a personal tour. I'm looking forward to some of the new plans they have-picnic baskets and being able to drop in for appitizers.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Grey Goose martini wasThe Grey Goose martini was excellent, I told the GM their caesar salad was the best I've ordered out in a year, I had scallops and my wife had the crab cakes and they were excellent, the wine list was good though not extensive and the prices were good. Overall a very good experience. The GM was personable and always checking on tables.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinnerEverything was great about dinner. Service was great and the food was excellent. Perfect spot for a date night, be it casual or classy.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWill definitely be back soon! Can’t believe we hadn’t discovered it before! We were greeted warmly and seated promptly for a 7:30 reservation on a Saturday night. Dining room was elegant and cozy, and the acoustics and table arrangement were such that you could converse easily without feeling like your neighbors were eavesdropping. Service was prompt and efficient, not at all harried or rushed. Wahoo special was on point. We’ll definitely be back, and will recommend this restaurant to our friends.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent food, service. can'texcellent food, service. can't believe we've lived here over 10 years and its was our first time here. Will be sure to come back.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely Stunning!I found the Cellars by using "Open Table" and previously had never heard of the place. They do not advertise, but what a gem. I was celebrating my 5 year anniversary with my gorgeous girl (Lore) and we just moved from the San Francisco area, which is a epicurean dream, so it’s been challenging to find exquisite dinning in Virginia Beach. We both enjoyed the food and the absolute freshness. Each bite was simply decadent. The new GM; Harry Green topped off the night with a wonderful dessert on the house and a grand tour of the Bed and Breakfast. Absolutely stunning and we thank Harry and his staff for a wonderful evening.
Cheers
Lore and Chris4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite establishments. One of my favorite establishments. Would have given all five's, but one of our four meals feel short of our expectations. Currently going through a change of ownership along with a new Chef and menu and I'm confident it will get better and better as they get settled. The food was excellent and the service was very attentive.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent and eclecticExcellent, albeit eclectic, food and superior service. Very quiet venue good for couples. Price makes this a place for special occasions, not necessarily and frequent dining experience.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was amazing, I recommendFood was amazing, I recommend the bam bam shrimp appetizer and apple martini. Our waitress was friendly and had impeccable timing. This is a great restaurant for a romantic dinner or special occasion. Defiantly will be returning.3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely Wonderful! So happy I selected this restaurant for dinner with a new friend. The food was fabulous as well as a generous wine selection. Asked the waitress to suggest an entree and complimenting wine...she graciously articulated a combination that was devine. From the time we entered the restaurant, till the moment we left, we felt like we were the only customers there...they truely cherished our business. Restaurant is located in the cellar of an exquisite B&B amongst million dollar homes...clearly off the beaten path! Tables are tucked into all the quaint spaces throughout the resturant with beautiful fireplaces to complete the rich ambiance. Guys, if your looking to impress, this is the place...quiet, romantic, and elegant all rolled into one!2/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a find!Having just moved here from Charleston SC, we were longing for a restaurant that met the high level of standards as many in the Charleston area. We found one in The Cellars. Outstanding food...great service...very quiet, intimate atmosphere. AND... we met others who too shared our love for the great restaurants of Charleston SC. You can not go wrong. Would suggest reservations as the seating is very limited. Had some of the best Mac and cheese with my fillet. Enjoy!2/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
