Diner Reviews
  • "Great find in an old historic house. We sat in the upstairs dining room, so I can't comment on the downstairs dining room. Upstairs was nicely decorated. Flowers with lots of color outside were clearly visible from our table. Food was outstanding. A little pricey but so worth it. "

  • "We were given the name by a friend, we live in Tulsa, OK. This is the former home of President Harding, which I did not know until reading the menu. It may be primarily Italian, but they have many entrees suited for any taste. This is some of the best prepared food I've eaten in years. The delicate seasonings were extremely well prepared and not overdone. If I lived within a few hours of Daytona, I would visit this again and again. I will definitely dine there again. The staff was professional, and courteous. Our bread was replaced without me even knowing it. The sign of a talented waiter, for sure. Enjoy."

  • "My girlfriend and I had read the reviews on this restaurant, prior to making reservation 2 months in advance. We ate here on Spring Break Tuesday 4/8/2014. We had our choice of eating in the cellar, or upstairs. We chose to sit upstairs, the cellar was packed and lots of conversation. We had only one other couple sitting in the enclosed patio. The upstairs in my opinion was more open and romantic! My girlfriend had a pasta dish which she enjoyed. I had the Filet, as a foodie all over the world, this by far was the best tasting, most tender filet I have wrapped my lips around. We had the owners special pomegranate champagne with a sugar rim,(It's a must try!) We also shared a bottle Vecchia Modena it too was delicious. 5 Stars! Loved It!"

  • "If your looking for one of the BEST meals you might have this is the place. It has an excellent menu with a wine list to match. Just sit back and enjoy!!!!"

  • "A real treat. Italian at its freshest and freshest. From the appetizers to dessert, the food and service were first class. The downstairs dining area is a bit cramped, but very lovely. This place takes their business very seriously, and it shows. From pasta to lamb, you cannot go wrong. Desserts are sumptuous. Everything is fresh and made in house. It is not cheap, but still a good value. Our waiter, Christopher, was helpful and knowledgeable. A real pro. Minor quibbles: No full bar. This is a shame, but the wine list is excellent. The place does get a bit warm when crowded, but not hot. It is an old house after all. If you live near Daytona, it is worth the trip. Lucky for us we do."

  • "The Cellar is truly a neighborhood gem. I enjoyed the service, the food, and the ambience. I wish they were open during the day for lunch."

  • "I chose this restaurant for a celebratory dinner based on the reviews I had read. It certainly lived up to the ratings! The food was excellent, and the ambiance is wonderful. (Except for one rather loud and obnoxious diner next to us, which cannot be helped, and is certainly not the restaurant's fault.) Definitely going back if ever in the area again, and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who wants a fantastic meal in a lovely setting."

  • "My wife and I go to The Cellar for our birthdays and anniversary each year. It's a very nice adult restuarant. Quiet and relaxing. Always good service and food is always excellent."

  • "My husband and I visit this restaurant every time we are vacationing in Daytona. We have always had a good experience and the food is worth the price. Definitely would recommend"

  • "Beyond expectations--we were told by the bartender at the Hilton (I was there for a conference) that the Cellar was fabulous. He lied. It was outstanding. Extraordinary. We're experienced foodies and long-time Open Table members. Knocked our socks off. What a fab place like this is doing in Daytona Beach (more known for beer and hot dogs) boggles the mind. I may agree to do the conference against next year just so we can dine at The Cellar again. Yeah, it's that good."

  • "My wife and I have had the occasion to visit the Cellar about 6 times in the last 3 years and each time we had a very pleasant experience. The food is always top quality, the service excellent and the host very accommodating. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Daytona area that is looking for a quality meal and fine dining."

  • "This was our first visit and the entire experience was lovely. The service was wonderful. The stuffed avocado appetizer was our favorite. We also enjoyed the stuffed pepper and the caprice salad. For the main course we had the meat ravioli which was great with fresh tomato flavor. We also ordered the basil pappardelle, and the rabbit ragu. Of the three the ravioli was our favorite. All the pasta was tender and we could tell it was homemade. No desert for us as we had cake waiting at home. We will defiantly return."

  • "This restaurant is most appealing for many reasons. The owner is always present and greeting guests when they arrive, stopping by the table while they are there and thanking them upon their departure. She is very knowledgeable about the dishes served and how they are prepared in addition to the wines that are at The Cellar. The food is deliciously prepared and their menu is exceptional. Our server was very conscientious of our needs and that is one aspect of this restaurant that never changes. We took out-of-town friends who had heard about The Cellar from other sources and they were very pleased by their meal choices and vowed to come back again. This is our "go-to" restaurant for all special occasions and for bringing guest."

  • "This was the first visit for me and my husband. Joining us were friends who appreciate good food as much as we do. Between all of us, we ordered items from salads, appetizers, pastas, main entrees, desserts and coffees. Everything was really good and obviously homemade and freshly made. The only slight negative is the vegetables that came with the snapper with lobster sauce were pretty but the french beans were very tough and the hunks of potatoes didn't seem to fit the entree. I'm one of those folks who consider the vegetables on the plate should be as thought out and as delicious as the entree. I still can say it's the best meal I've had anywhere in the Daytona area. We will certainly make it our restaurant of choice from now on."

  • "A must try at the Cellar is the Merchant of Venice (a house specialty drink). I enjoyed the duck and pheasant while my dining companions opted for the venison. A marvelous dining experience featuring an expansive wine list."

  • "We love this place! The food is wonderful, but the service puts them over the top. It is small and quiet, so don't expect to get in without a reservation. It is truly the best restaurant in Daytona!"

  • "Excellent -- a must stop if you are in Daytona Beach."

  • "The best restaurant I know of. It's more pricy than others, we paid about $250 tip included for a party of three, with appertizers and dinner, and a couple glasses of wine each. But it is totally worth it, you won't find better service and food than what you get at the Cellar."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our 23 Wedding Anniversery in Daytona. The Cellar was an excellent choice. We were give a very private table but the wait staff was very attentive. The food was outstanding and timed perfectly. We did not have to wait or feel rushed. Even had an anniversary candle on desert!"

  • "A very intimate setting for an early dinner. Mostly an older crowd, with nice wine selections (even 1/2 bottles). The owner is very attentive and clearly in charge. My veal dish was a bit bland and dry, but our polenta appetizer was outstanding! We were happy to see Conundrum offered in 1/2 bottles, since I wanted red wine. Our waiter was excellent and I notice that the staff has been there for some time (which is a good thing). My wife and I will definitely go back."

  • "My husband and I recently dined with another couple at The Cellar. We had been there before and were proud to share our "find". It was a perfect night. We are foodies who will travel far and will spend an unlimited amount for an amazing meal. The Cellar rivals the best the country and Europe. It's special. Not to be missed by those with a discernible palate."

  • "This was quite possibly the best dinner I've had. We went to Daytona Beach for my birthday and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The Cellar is a lot more upscale than my normal dining, but I wasn't made to feel out of place. The staff was absolutely very polite and a beautiful restaurant. You can tell these are people with a passion for food."

  • "I am new to the area and found the Cellar on the internet from all the great reviews. I'm sorry... I don't get why all the highly positive ratings. The wine list was pretty extensive but everything else in my opinion except for the server was subpar for a "nice" restaurant. It literally is in a basement/cellar and the tables are so close you can hear conversations one would rather not. The food was okay and little pricey yet the atmosphere was not what I expected. Would I go there again? Maybe, however I'm definitely going to explore other places first."

  • "Every aspect of the food at this place is outstanding. This was my first time here and the service was top notch. I had a 3 course meal and each dish was prepared perfectly and was unique. The atmosphere was also great and still had the old time feel that it should maintain as it is a historic site."

  • "Great food, superior service, and an experience we will take advantage of many times in the future. This note for Open Table: our reservations were made as a birthday dinner but the birthday did not get passed to the Cellar. I was a bit disappointed when a birthday cake for one was delivered to a near-by table."

  • "Exceptional food, quiet and refined atmosphere, extensive wine list, and attentive (perhaps even overly attentive) wait staff. What gives this establishment a black eye is the printed, rather crass note the restaurant encloses with the checks when the meal is over: “To save waitstaff from transaction fees . . . Paying gratuity –In Cash – is greatly appreciated.” Credit cards, transaction fees and all, are contemporary facts of life that most of us have learned to live with by now. The restaurant’s meal and wine prices are already on the high side and presumably a more than adequate basis upon which to establish a tip that covers any transaction fee. At best, this practice is poor form and discourages patrons from returning."
