Diner Reviews
  • "This was the first time we have been to this restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was very good. There was a live band and it was a little hard to carry on conversation but not impossible. We will definitely go back."

  • "Had the AgedFillet. Best steak I have had in Newnan."

  • "The fried green tomatoes were as good as I've had anywhere. I had a ribeye ordered medium rare. It was delivered as ordered and tender. The steamed vegetables were crisp and we'll flavored. The only negatives were that the steak was not well charred nor well seasoned."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary at the Cellar and were very happy with our experience. We were seated in a private booth, where we were greeted by a friendly server. She answered all our menu questions confidently and descriptively with good recommendations. The food was great and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this restaurant to my family, friends and visors to the Newnan area."

  • "We had early dinner reservations for a Saturday. Not many people there yet, so it was very quiet. Food and service exceeded our expectations. My husband had the cowboy ribeye and I had the reserved aged filet. Both were excellent, as well as the house salad and the sides. The Red Slate wine that they recommended was also very good - smooth and dry."

  • "We enjoyed our night at The Cellar. The service was amazing, and the food was excellent!"

  • "Food was good, wine list needs more variety, enjoyed the music. They are moving to a new location downtown shortly...will definitely check that out!"

  • "My husband & I recently dined here. Upon hearing our reviews, our youngest son begged to go back with us. This weekend we took both boys. We went at 5 so as not to disturb other diners. Sam was our waitress. She was attentive, not intrusive. We got Aged Rib Eyes, and our son got a cheeseburger. The burger was huge.& delicious. The steaks are great. The collards & corn pudding are both very good. The lobster bisque was good - sweet, creamy, and had lots of lobster bits, but it is served room temperature - not hot. I prefer my soup hot. My first visit I ordered my steak medium and it was served perfectly cooked. This time it was a little overcooked. Even so, it was still very tender and delicious. Cheesecake was great."

  • "Great experience for my husband and I on our 1 yr anniversary. Food was terrific;a bit pricey but not too outrageous for a special occasion."

  • "We like the Cellar, food and service are very good but when they are busy it is very noisy. They are moving to a new location this year, we hope better acoustics will tone down the chatter. Wish the menu had more variety for those of us not that into red meats."

  • "We have been to this restaurant several times. This night was to celebrate a birthday. With us was a WWII veteran who has a difficult time of hearing. The restaurant sat us in a more quiet corner. The meal was excellent and our server was wonderful. Will definitely return."

  • "I have eaten here a couple of times now and both experiences have been positive. From the time you walk in the staff is very helpful and knowledgable. This time we had the fried pickles as an appetizer a d they were great. I had the aged ribeye with Parmesan fries and the steak was great but the fries were only warm and were nothing special. My wife had the lamb burger which was pretty good as well. They have a great wine/beer list and the ambiance is great for date night. Total for dinner with a bottle of wine and a couple of beers was $122."

  • "Probably the 5th or 6th time visiting the cellar and in each case my wife or myself will have a steak over cooked. It's a real shame because this could be our go to place steaks, but guess we will continue to drive to ATL for date night :)."

  • "There was not a lot of ambience and it was quite loud with all the conversations going on. Our dinners were very good except the mashed potatoes and French fries were dry/over cooked. The fresh/warm rolls, lettuce wedge, and steaks were delicious and cooked to perfection. I had to chuckle, at one location on the menu condiments was spelled "comdiments"."

  • "Love this place in downtown Newnan. It has great food and great service. It has excellent Shrimp and Grits, love the pork tenderloin. The Lobster Bisque is the best I have ever had!!! Excellent steaks with great add on options like Blue Cheese Butter which is amazing. It has a unique burger menu offering Kangaroo and Lamb. I would hands down recommend this place for date night, special occasions or just a girls night out."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner. The service was good. The only thing that keeps us from giving the service 5 stars is the wine list was taken from the table immediately when I ordered water. Then when I asked questions about the wine the server did not really know anything about the wine menu or offer to go get the wine menu. I asked for a buttery Chardonnay. And what she brought me was very good but definitely not buttery. We will be back. The food and atmosphere was amazing. And the service was good too. We had several people who came to our table to check on us or to remove dirty dishes."

  • "We paid "made to order" prices for banquet style food. The dinner was cold and the courses came out extremely fast. At one point in the night all the courses were on the table at the same time. We felt rushed and as if we were having dinner at a reception rather than an intimate upscale meal. Very disappointing."

  • "This restaurant was amazing. Wonderful food great atmospheres. Not kid friendly but very nice for a date. Food is pricier but worth it. Grass fed beef, free range chicken, wild caught seafood."

  • "We really enjoyed our valentine's day dinner at The Cellar. The food was excellent and fresh. The jazz duo was perfect, weren't too loud but just right. Our server was great. The only downside was the price. It seemed a bit pricey but it was Valentine's Day."

  • "While our meal and server were good the manager was awful! He charged our debit card four times (around $400) then refused to accept responsibility! He never apologised only said it was not his fault which it clearly was because after getting very ugly with him the money was magically returned 2 days later. He never returned any phone calls and tried to avoid dealing with it. We will not go back ever again nor do we recommend this to anyone!"

  • "The reviews I read were great so I booked a business meeting here. We are also in the restaurant business. The dining area is very small, there was a large group next to us so it was very hard to hear each other. The appetizer and salad portions were very small. The wine list left a lot to be desired. And our server was not great. We spent the entire second half of our time there without a drop of water. And when my boss ordered a coffee, it was full if grounds. The service knew this when she sat it down bc she acknowledged it. We do not plan on returning."

  • "Food prepared well, abundant and thoroughly enjoyable. Quiet, unpretentious atmosphere, a well kept brunch secret."

  • "Absolutely wonderful food, the only thing that made it a 4 instead of a 5 for me, they weren't able to do my kangaroo burger due to the bad weather disrupting their shipping. I would like to see the wine menu improved, there just wasn't anything that wowed me so I went with craft beer. The "Epic Martinis" were on a great special, and they were tasty, though I'd love to see some more original flavors."

  • "I lived in downtown Decatur for years, and it's full of trendy, wonderful restaurants. Until I found the Cellar, I thought Newnan had nothing to compare. The Cellar us just wonderful and my favorite spot in Newnan for dinner with friends."

  • "This place has changed hands and names over the years but The Cellar is the best they've had! Great food, decent prices (you'll get amazing quality and exotic meats for what you pay for!), decent wine list, friendly staff. Very romantic. We celebrated my husband's birthday here this week and enjoyed everything about it. Definitely a must for date night, special occasions or just for a nice dinner with friends."

  • "Our third time here. This time we had wine & burgers -- but not just any ol' burger -- we had an elk burger and an antelope burger. Very good! For 'gluten-free' purposes, they made the burgers 'bunless' for us -- so it really was just a large, healthy salad! The atmosphere was warm and cozy, as always. They had a couple of musicians that night (acoustic guitar & sax), but they were very muted and low-key -- definitely NOT blasting the ubiquitous Jimmy Buffet stuff. We were seated right next to them but never felt overpowered by the music. Our favorite Newnan restaurant."

  • "The Cellar is a great little off the beaten path Chop House. It has great ambiance, low noise levels, and a great menu with variety. The service was fast and top notch. My steak was cooked perfectly as was my wife's salmon. We also had a nice conversation as the noise level was much lower than the other chain style restaurants. Give it a try. You'll like it."

  • "This was our second time eating at the Cellar. I really don't remember specifically feeling that my first visit was anything out of the ordinary. BUT this time, I have to say I was blown away!! My husband had the Age-Reserved ribeye-- and he said it was ok.. May have been cooked a bit more than his liking. Now this is where I get to brag!!! I had the Age-Reserved Filet, OMG delicious!! I ate and ate, which I never do.. When I had 3 bites left, I made my husband try it and the he promptly finished my filet-- while raving about how delicious it was! We went to another steakhouse last night and I was still wishing I had the filet from the Cellar!! Keep grilling like this and we will be back sooner than later!!"

  • "Cozy restaurant just off the Square in downtown Newnan in an old building with low exposed ceiling, wood floors and a cool ambience. We had the artichoke and crab crusted Salmon and the aged reserve filet. Had their regular filet before, and appreciated our waitress' recommendation to try the aged reserved cut. Not much price difference but a noticeable difference in flavor and quality. All food was fresh, well prepared and tasty, although the garlic mashed potatoes were a bit bland. Not a huge menu, but something for everyone and a decent wine selection. There was a live singer/guitar player performing (weekends) which added to the ambience but was not so overpowering that we could not carry on a conversation. Highly recommended."

  • "We have been coming to the Cellar over the last year since it reopened and we have enjoyed it each time. New Year's Eve was just as pleasant. The dinner was a set 5-course menu. A little pricey at $75 but it is New Years. We had reservations for 8:45 and we left the restaurant at just after 11 pm. I really did not expect a 2 1/2 meal and was a little dismayed at how long it took to just get soup and salad out to our table. But you know what they say, good things are worth waiting for!"

  • "I didn't quite know what to expect on my first visit, but, I was pleasantly surprised. If you are looking for a quiet, romantic getaway, this is it. My wife and I had a few delicious cocktails, and a very good dinner. The atmosphere was just what we needed, and on that particular night, there was a gentleman playing the acoustic guitar and singing old favorites from the 90's. The music was nice and wasn't making dinner conversation a challenge. I'm not from the Newnan area, but visit frequently, and from now on, this is our place when dining."

  • "Food was ok - ate too much red meat during holidays so tried the Chicken dish on the menu. Two 4oz. Breasts with some sauce isn't that filling. Sides are small and cannot be shared. We were sat next to their live music band and although the music was pleasant, still was a bit loud."

  • "We had a lovely time at The Cellar and have dined there twice in one week. I love the lobster bisque and the aged ribeye is what brought us back. Our server, Christina, made us feel at home and had wonderful recommendations. This restuarant is definatly in the rotation!"

  • "Those of us residing south of Atlanta have compromised for years in food quality when dining out. No more! Increasing options abound, The Cellar a notable example. A wide variety of entree choices, punctuated with numerous steak options, keep discerning foodies appeased. The specials were as appetizing as appealing. Will definitely return. Only negative a pesky interior breeze from the opening exterior door on the cold winter night we visited. It was uncomfortable where my chair was seated. However, the other 8 persons in our party were upwind and not bothered. Bring a coat/blanket if it's nippy outside. You may need it inside!"
