A word from The Cellar Bistro
A wonderful little gem in downtown Wheaton just 2 blocks from the Metra. Serving delicious, homemade dishes using preservative free ingredients and hormone/anti-biotic free beef, pork, bison, chicken and eggs. Fresh fish featured weekly, live music every Monday night, a great wine list and quaint sidewalk dining with alcohol service. We buy from businesses within our community, or from small businesses who are an integral part of their communities and try to have a positive impact on their environment. Opened in 2007, this husband & wife owned restaurant was nominated for Restaurant of the Year in 2010. You will be impressed with the ambiance of the small dining room, the personal, attentive service by the wait staff and the delicious menu options.Continued

  • "Enjoyed the pizza as usual. They were out of a special and some of the after dinner drinks, The service was very good as always, the salads were very fresh and the wine list was ok."

  • "This is one of our favorite restaurants and the food is always terrific. On our most recent visit, the server was very indifferent. One of the forks that we had was encrusted with something unknown when we sat down to the table. The server never noticed: my husband had to clean it off himself since she was rarely checking in with our table. The appetizer was selected was already sold out (this was about 5:30 PM!) And when we ordered small salads, the server never offered a choice of dressings-she chose one and brought it to both of us. I didn't care for it (honey mustard?) and when I asked for a replacement, she took quite some time before bringing it to the table. Great food, iffy service that night."

  • "We were looking forward to a relaxing dinner, but were seated next to a table with a crying baby. Not only was it too late for a baby to be out, the parents showed little regard for the other diners in the restaurant whose dinner was ruined by the noise. We couldn't get out of there fast enough."

  • "Cellar Bistro is my favorite restaurant in Wheaton. The quality of the food is excellent. Preparation of too is excellent. Also, the menu is really outstanding. I have been to Cellar Bistro several times and have never been disappointed. I would recommend this restuarant to anyone. They are very accomodating to people who are gluten free."

  • "Loved it! Atmosphere - food - waiter, all were wonderful!"
    Dined on 3/27/2014
  • "Unfortunately nothing puts a damper on an evening like a waiter who doesn't want to be there. His lackluster interest in taking our orders was one thing, but if you are going to roll your eyes at the customers you should be a little quicker to turn away so they don't see it. (Sorry we had to correct you when you repeated our order back to us incorrectly.) For the price the entrées are tiny. And those "famous" burgers are actually sliders. Not a fun surprise to the men in our group."

  • ""The Cellar " is one of our farvorites! Food is always great with enough choices for every diner. Service is a weak link at times. We had lunch on a very slow day with less than 25% of the tables in use. It took over 20 minutes to get menus and to place our orders. The server did not know the menu and what made up the various dishes. She did get the answers but after she had to go to the kitchen. The soup came out quickly but the lunch entries took a very long time to come out. For not many customers, I would have expected quicker service. It was nice that we were in no hurry. If you are going to have only one server, the manager needs to step in and help. Why the kitchen took so long is another story. It still is worth a try."

  • "We celebrated my wife's birthday. The crab cakes, beet salad, sea bass and pork medallions wonderful. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. The atmosphere quiet. Will definitely be back!"

  • "My friend and I were amazed. Every bite was delicious and the server helpful and courteous. Tiny space just right for two people dining. Make reservations."

  • "This restaurant was disappointing. Celebrated a friend's birthday - nothing special - no candle and they didn't even have the dessert that we chose first - unavailable. Pizza had way too much garlic and couldn't even eat it. Hostess was also server and therefore we didn't get much attention."

  • "Small bistro in downtown Wheaton has nice variety of food and reasonable wine list. Food nicely done."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, the appetizers were decent but the entrees truly did steal the show. I was especially enamored with the Lamb Ragu with a nice portion of polenta in the center, and is a will be a dish I come back to eat. The atmosphere is quaint as it is a small space restaurant but all in all it was a great experience. Also, I was impressed with how reasonably priced everything was."

  • "We've been to the Cellar Bistro before and always had a good meal. This time was no different. The food is consistently good quality and the restaurant is a nice quaint location. However, because it is a small place, you do tend to be sitting almost on top of your neighbor and it's hard to have a conversation without overhearing others and others overhearing you. They also have an underwhelming wine list. I am by no means a wine snob, but I always have a hard time finding something good for the price point there. It seems like their wines are lower quality for the standard $10-12 price point they sell them at."

  • "Love the ambiance of Cellar Bistro. Great wine list. Usually very happy with the food. I tried the pork medallions and was disappointed. Seemed dry."

  • "When we arrived at the restaurant for our 6:00 PM reservation, they didn't have it in their system. Even though I provided a confirmation number they were unwilling to honor it. The options were to take a table and be done by 7:00 or sit at the bar. Since we had traveled 30-35 minutes to get there we decided to stay. We ended up eating at the bar rather than being rushed through dinner. The restaurant did offer a free appetizer and first round of drinks on the house and once we settled in the rest of the experience was great. The wine list was extensive and our choices were delicious. The food was exceptional - we did not have dessert. We will definitely try again and hope for better results with the reservation system."

  • "This place is tucked into Wheaton and you would not necessarily expect it but it is a wonderful restaurant! Great food, love the shrimp dish and the scallop dish. The beet salad for a starter is also a win. And good craft beers if you are not an over the top beer drinker."

  • "My group of six got there and were the only table for about half an hour. The music was good, the waiter was very helpful, and overall had a great feel to it. I'll definitely go back"

  • "Delectable food and a quiet, unhurried ambiance created a relaxed atmosphere for my husband and I to reconnect after a hectic week. Make reservations ahead of time since seating is limited. It's usually packed but we've never felt like the staff is rushing us through our meal. It's one of our favorite dinner date spots!"

  • "Loved my food, as did my friend! What we didnt love was that we were not told the price of the special. The Crab wrapped bacon sounded amazing - but once my friend got the price she was stunned. Be sure to include prices.... dont shock your customers!"
