Enjoyed the brunch, however it was
really cold inside which made it difficult to really enjoy the ambiance. Patrons kept entering from the side door which was slow as a snail to close. Being that we were seated relatively close to the door, every time someone entered, we froze our tooshes off plus our food got cold quicker. I would suggest maybe locking the side door or fixing it so that it closes quicker."

Heard good things about this
restaurant, but after finally going I realize now why no one ever mentioned the food.... Came here on Valentines evening and had an okay experience. The drinks were really good, but the set menu that evening was poorly executed and fell flat. My fiancee ordered the Coq au vin and couldn't even finish it... The food was disappointing."

Great experience and great
time...Food was great while the ambience was perfect"

This could be a great place, but
they need to get over themselves. One of our diners ordered a dirty martini, and was told the bartender won't make one because the olive juice destroys the taste. The music was overwhelmingly loud, and at 6:30 they were out of a salad, an entree, and two beers. Food was good but could not overcome the negatives."

One of my girlfriends and I get
together once a month to try a different brunch place in the area. That said, of the dozen+ brunches I've had in the last year, The Cedar Social is definitely top three! It's a little on the pricey side, but that flat bread was so worth it. Our waiter was the perfect combo of attentive yet non-invasive, and the view of the Dallas skyline is great! I also always give bonus points to places that make it easy to sit outside."

I made special Valentines day
reservations here for my wife and me. There was the typical 4-course option or a the option to order individually. We enjoyed all four courses except for the starter (lobster bisque). It was a little cold and too sweet. The other courses were fantastic. Our waiter, Travis, was particularly attentive for such a busy night. I liked this place for the ambiance and the cocktail menu. Traditional drinks mixed according to historical era. I also enjoyed all the books. Bookshelves filled with books were located near the kitchen and the check is brought to you in a hardcover book. I thought it was clever and unique. I would go again even if only for a drink."

It was hard to find as there are
no signs but once you do it's a great dining experience. We started with the grilled oysters and I could have eaten more of them - delicious!!! Then we had a flat bread with a red sauce, mozzarella cheese and lettuce with chili flakes that was perfect. We ended with the lamp chops that were juicy and tender. My husband order the apple crisp with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream that was so good. We drank draft beer because the wine was pretty pricey. I had an IPA and my husband had a Czechoslovakian beer"

We loved our cocktails! We had a
Romeo and Juliet, Gimlets, and Airmail. Pork small plate was awesome. Short Ribs were fantastic. Cheese tray and mac n cheese and salads tasty. The shrimp and grits was under-cooked - that was the big miss of the night. Onion rings were heavy and oily for tempura. Steak frites was yummy. We'd go back."

Food was very good but portions
too small. Great atmosphere though with solid drinks"
Dined on 2/1/2014
great food, moderate prices (same
great food bud cheaper than uptown), friendly and attentive service. We live in Uptown and thought we'd venture a bit outside our comfort zone, and very glad we did. Easy, free, safe parking. Very friendly and approachable staff. Food was fantastic. Overall a great experience and we'll add this to our rotation."

This is the fourth time I've been
and I'm never disappointed with the food or the drinks! This place is fun and a nice change from the usual Uptown scene."
Dined on 1/17/2014
This place was recommended by a
friend. Overall we were disappointed. The truffle mac n cheese tasted bland. Perhaps it had something to do with the noodles since another guy in our group ordered a pasta dish and said that it lacked flavor. The lamb chops were excellent but $18 for 2 lamb chops is a bit absurd. Brio serves 10-12 lamb chops as an entree for $28 and they taste just as good. The rest of the food we ordered was very good. The biggest disappointment was the service. The waiter was very inconsistent. At times he wouldn't come by our table for 25-30 minutes. Waiting for drinks was the most frustrating part of the night (seems to be a theme here since people complained about drink service on a lot of yelp reviews)"

Great food, server very friendly.
Front of house could be warmer and more flexible."

Saturday brunch we ordered
florentine omelet with goat cheese and mushrooms, white cheddar & parm grits, shrimp & grits and bottomless mimosas. The eggs were cooked to perfection, fluffy and light around the most savory delicious center of sautéed cheesy goodness. The grits were creamy and tasty. Shrimp were tender and sumptuous with a yummy beurre blanc. We liked it so much, we went back for dinner! Second visit of the day we tried the cocktails, favorite was the "ball & chain" If it's not on the menu, ask for it! Mac & Cheese with truffle oil, brussel sprouts & Kobe meatballs were awesome. Decor is eclectic and reminiscent of a cool 80's basement game room. Exceptional service!"

We had 5 people and enjoyed
sitting by the fire pit and all the small plates! Service a little slow."
Dined on 11/22/2013
Great place to hangout with
friends or to take a date. Open firepit in dining area, cool ambiance, and unique and great food."
Dined on 11/1/2013
I had the burger and truffle
fries, as well as some tasty apps. All of the food was great, and the drinks were good too. Service was really slow though."
Dined on 6/29/2013
I would definitely recommend for
brunch. Their main chef was out that day, so they were a little slow getting our food but totally made up for it by comping my girl's mimosas which I found extremely thoughtful. The one downside to the menu was that they were out of several items available, as everything is made fresh daily so once its gone, that's it. I would recommend dining early to ensure you are able to get whatever is available. I would definitely go back. The French Toast was TO DIE FORRR!!!!"

The food was really delicous. Our
server was just attentive enough (Daniel). We were very impressed with him. The thing that almost ruined the night though was the lack of any sort of blinds on the window. The sun was going down while we were eating, and my husband had the light blaring him right in the eyes. We requested to move, but were told that they really didn't have anywhere else to put us. We kind of solved the issue by turning our table around and sitting both of us together on one side, so the sun was hitting the back of our heads. Simple blinds on that one window by the bar would solve the issue. Being open 3 years already, you'd think they'd have made that relatively inexpensive investment for the comfort of their patrons?"

I took a client and his wife (both
of whom I had never met) to dinner, and delightfully they had just learned that they were expecting their first child only hours before. I was the second person to find out! It turned into a celebration! I(In spite of the fact tat she could no longer drink!). The waiter -Travis was very knowledgeable and provided us with excellent options for food and drink! My guests were delighted as was I and were will undoubtedly return on my next trip back to Dallas!"

We ate at Cedars Social on a busy
Saturday night, but had an excellent experience. The food was oustanding -- specials calamari and ribeye -- were fantastic. The attention to detail -- trying to get my steak just right even though it meant a delay between salad and entree -- was notable. The only nit to pick is that for much of the night, the music was too loud."
Dined on 9/22/2013
We came for brunch. The iced tea
was bitter and cloudy and evidently from the day before; the waiter said they had not brewed any fresh tea. We were seated directly under a speaker, and we literally not could hear each other across the table - patrons at other tables asked for the music to be turned down, which the host did, and then the owner came over and turned it back up to the blaring level. There were four of us, and two guests' entrees came out 10 minutes fore the others - no explanation. Such a good looking place - but sadly too self absorbed in its cool factor to take care of their customers."

We always enjoy Cedar Social. Food
and service are tops. We've never been disappointed. The sea bream special I had tonight was really good. Hope to see it on the menu again soon."
Dined on 9/14/2013
I came to Cedar Social right after
it opened and everything was amazing! Since then, the service has been slow, drinks are lower quality, and the rude looks from employees have increased. There are not enough servers for the amount of table they have, our waiter was great but seemed overworked. My Moscow Mule arrived 10 minutes after I ordered it, and tasted like a glass of lemonade. Moscow mules should be ginger beer and a bit of lime with vodka. There was no vodka. It was sent back, Prosecco was orederd, and it took anither 10 minutes for the waiter to bring this drink. The food as always was amazing, but the lackluster drinks and service will have me steering clear for a while."

Felt like I was back in Portland,
and it felt great!"
Dined on 9/1/2013
Hidden little gem with no sign
outside and the area is questionable but our experience was great! A variety of small plates like kobe meatballs and their twist on deviled eggs, large plates like lobster risotto, and a ton of fun cocktails. I believe the space use to be a library so they've tried to keep elements of that but giving your check in a book, the menu in a file folder, and a little library book shelf in the back corner. It's just a trendy, laid back restaurant that is ideal for getting a couple of your friends together and yucking it up over some cocktails. Warning, the food is "family style" and won't be coming out all at the same time. But that just means your dish is that much more fresh!"
Dined on 8/18/2013
If I have one criticism it's that
I'm happy we got lots of appetizers because the streak frites was a pretty small serving."
Dined on 8/7/2013
A great little restaurant with
fresh, well prepared food, courteous & friendly staff. Was in town briefly visiting & had a lovely meal here...brought the dog & sat outside. Really enjoyed the view of Dallas & the laid back atmosphere. The cocktails looked amazing! This is somewhere to go & spend time with friends over a leisurely dinner. I hear that brunch is awesome too!"

Love Cedar Social---Drinks menu is
a book!! Great cocktails. Food and Service are first rate. Share small plates and salads or have your own entree. In any case it's a wonderful restaurant."

Great spot for a bday dinner with
our group of six, great food to share and the drinks are always spot on! Best Old Fashion in Dallas!!"
Dined on 7/21/2013
A retro, semi-hip joint best
suited for the thirty-somethings with a taste for well-crafted cocktail specialties. The food was very good-to-excellent, too!"
Dined on 7/20/2013
One of my favorite restaurants in
town. It is a bit pricey, but worth every cent. Brian is a friendly face and always very welcoming. Our waiter, Jordan, was fun and took great care of our loud large group. I have gone by myself, with a date or a friend and large groups this place can accommodate any type of outing."
Dined on 7/14/2013
My friends and I were going to Lee
Harvey's to see a band and asked a friend for a dinner recommendation in the area. He was right on the money with this one. We ordered several of the small plates and shared everything, all of them were superb! The duck confit was so tender, it fell right off the bone. The service was impeccable, we never had an empty water glass or had to track down anyone for anything. My friend pulled out her camera and the host just appeared to snap a photo of us. From the moment we arrived til the time we left, everything was perfect!"

this restaurant serves fabulous
food, has friendly and knowledgable wait staff and provides a pleasurable dining experience. one of the best spots in Dallas for a meal"

Very interesting mixed drinks and
some great food choices. First time there, will return soon. Service was great."
Dined on 6/29/2013
Such a huge build up on Open Table
and other sources. But when you arrive - whether for drinks or that meal - be prepared for a highly average experience. Sampled a range of dishes, all of which came out poorly plated but edible. Drinks were creative, but ambiance was just so-so. Can't find any particular reason I would go back."
Dined on 6/27/2013
The menu has a lot of options. The
flatbread and tacos were outstanding. It is a little loud during the early evening, but it wasn't a big problem."
Dined on 6/26/2013
When I walked in, it was so loud I
literally had to just about yell to speak with the hostess. Our reservation was for 1:30pm and brunch was from 11am - 3pm. Our waiter informed us that they were out of french toast and out of one other dish. They only have a choice of 2 juices, grapefruit and orange...no other juice choice! When we told our waiter, Gray, that we were disappointed about the lack of french toast considering that's what I had planned to order he just shrugged his shoulders and asked what we would like. If you're looking for a good brunch experience there are way too many good choices within a short distance of Cedars Social rather than deal with their poor planning, lack of compassion and less than desirable service."
