"In downtown Long Grove there are a few great places, but Cedar Grill has a upscale menu and is one of the best! Set in an old rustic barn, it really has a nice charm to it. It has some nice tables in the bar area if you just want a cozy meal with your spouse away from the kids."

"we waited an hour and fifteen minutes for or entrees. For the appetizer we ordered grilled calamari and there war 5 small pieces for $10.00 not even enough for one person. There were only 3 tables with people and the service was horrible. They ran out of lemons....The chicken was an overdone small breast for $18.00. We talked to the manager and he could care less what we said. Would not recommend."

"This place definitely has potential but the owner/operators need to polish the place and service a bit. On the plus side, most of the food was very good, they have a neat beer selection, and the facility has charm. On the minus side, there was an assortment of hand tools on a spare table, messy wiring to the TV/audio, and so on that just did not fit. We felt like we were stopping into someone's house while they had it under construction."

"We were greeted by hostess, we asked about the restaurant, her comment was "I don't know its my first day". Upon being seated, waitress first comment was this may take awhile I am training two other people. There were only 6-7 tables. Server struggled with I-Phone ap that they use to place orders with, lost our table info??? Kept on stating over an over " so sorry I am training two people" never saw her training anyone. Four people waiting on six tables and poor service at best. Meals were to our liking, but came 1 hour after we sat down, if it had not been for the guitar playing entertainment we would have left."

"The menu was limited and the specialty of the house, the salmon, was uninspired. They gave away a lot of free desserts and free coffee to us and the tables around us because the kitchen and the wait staff were in the weeds the whole time we were there. We ordered wine and it never arrived (hence the free dessert). My fish was cooked perfectly, but everything else on the plate was not hot enough.
