  • Parking Details: Valet parking is available through Hotel Zetta; located at 55 Fifth Street on the corner of Jessie Street; adjacent to The Cavalier. Parking is offered at $20 for the first two hours, and $10 for each additional hour.


    Parking is also available at the Fifth and Mission - Yerba Buena Garage; located at 833 Mission Street. The garage is accessible from Mission Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets, as well as from Minna Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets.

The Cavalier is an all-day London-inspired brasserie, located in the new Hotel Zetta.

This is the third property for restaurateurs Anna Weinberg, James Nicholas & Chef Jennifer Puccio; the team behind Marlowe and Park Tavern. The team has collaborated with award winning San Francisco designer Ken Fulk, who has revamped the interior in deep leather banquettes, polished brass, zinc and white marble, giving it a posh and sultry feel. We were hoping that an updated English Pub experience would be interesting but I have had better Scotch Eggs in Italian restaurants. The service was very attentive and the Manager visited our table and was charming."

  • "We have a few friends in town and wanted a great spot to meet for brunch downtown, this was it. We had a great meal, 2 English and 2 Bacon sandwiches (chunks of bacon...really good!). We also all had bloody marys - not on the menu (but should be). Don't be shocked to see a few stuffed animals looking down on you (I really like the dear with the binoculars...see if you spot it)"

  • "With it's great food, fun atmosphere and easy parking (5th & Mission Garage), The Cavalier is a perfect spot to meet friends for dinner. Our group of six got a little over-enthusiastic with the appetizers but still found room for entrees and dessert. The Scotch Egg was a huge hit, and you can't go wrong with the Sunday Chicken. The Beef Dipping Chips are life-changing. They must be fried in crack. Can't say that I would have sought out British cuisine, but The Cavalier hits all the right notes. Great time."

  • "Don't just order the fish and chips here. Its good but OMG there is so much more on the menu. Hen Egg Hollandaise is sublime. I had it as a starter and dessert. Baked Oysters were amazing. Ask for the Mustard Bacon jus for your chips. May cost you $3 but well worth it. I will definitely go back and back and back."

  • "Second visit here for a birthday brunch with the hubby. Once seated, we were treated with 2 glasses of champagne which was a very nice touch. We had the pancakes, quail eggs, house salad, bacon/egg sandwich, potted teas and fried potatoes. Topped off the meal with a few Pimm's Cups. All were absolutely scrumptious and of course the pancakes were as magnificent as I remembered from the first visit. Afterwards, I was served a complimentary desert with candle - the chocolate genache? I think. That too was very good but sadly I was too full to make a decent dent into it. I'm an Anglophile breakfast gal and the Cavalier ticks all the right boxes for me. Its a gorgeous place that does British food proud. I will definitely be back!"

Completely not cavalier service, the hostess was at her post when we arrived, she took my coat, and showed me to my table. Our server was poised, helpful, attentive (e.g., asked us how the food was, refilled our water). Five stars for service. In New York City or Austin, this type of service is standard, but in San Francisco where service at mid-to-high end restaurants is inattentive, avoidant, and entitled, Cavalier's service shines. (As a side bar, mom and pop restaurants, food trucks, and hole-in-the-walls in SF have far better service than most mid-to-high end restaurants.) We'll definitely be returning to The Cavalier!"

  • "I eat out a lot and have not been this impressed for a very long time. We were wowed with the attentiveness of the staff. Our table was not ready on time (I'm assuming the diners did not want to leave because they were having such a great time!), so the hostess apologized numerous times, and we were treated to complimentary champagne. Once we were seated, Zach made us VERY comfortable. The crispy Brussels sprout chips were a treat. I loved my mushroom pie....next time I need to order mash on the side. My friends loved their black cod and fish & chips. Our water glasses were always full. I full-heartedly support their new restaurant nomination from the James Beard Foundation. They earned and deserve it! Kudos to a job well done!"

  • "We were celebrating a friend's birthday with a "progressive" experience that involved starting one place with bubbly, then to the Cavalier for drinks/appetizers and then on to dinner, etc. Since we were on a tight schedule, I wanted to be sure we had seats. The host was very gracious in letting us keep our table in the dining room even when I told him we wouldn't have a full dinner. Our server was equally gracious, and INCREDIBLY charming in recognizing my friend's birthday (mentioned in the OT reservation but didn't prompt them that nite). The G&Ts were AMAZING, the appetizers were incredible. The venue is classy/cozy. Can't wait to visit again!"

Perfectly crisp, perfectly fried, but the delicate fish flavor was missing. Desserts divine (toffee something)."

  • "We found the service very attentive (e.g. constant refills of water) and efficient, the atmosphere lively and buzzing but not too loud, and the food generally very good. The food didn't get 5 stars because the pork main (from the rotisserie) was disappointingly small and lacked flavor. The pear and blackcurrant crumble for dessert was also a little salty (as well as sweet), which I felt ruined it somewhat. Also a hiccup at the end where my jacket was not found in the cloakroom, although eventually after much searching it turned out that it had fallen off the hanger and got stuck between too other coats. I recommend the chips cooked in beef fat(?), which were very tasty. They need to update the menu online. Wine by the glass expensive."
