Diner Reviews
  • "So pleased to have chosen this restaurant. Some of the menu items appeared to be strange combinations, but we were pleasantly surprised by the dishes. Fried green tomatoes were heavenly with the crab and sauce. Crab cakes were fantastic. Collared greens and succotash were excellent with very unique flavors~ these ain't your momma's, they are so much better. Service was helpful and food arrived fast and hot. Sweet potato rolls with honey butter....oh my! Just a note to those Dunleith guests expecting the same at breakfast- don't. The chef obviously does not do the breakfast here. Sadly, it's a very good breakfast, just notthe same quality as dinner. The Castle is well worth the cost of dinner, it is devine."

  • "A group of six friends met for lunch. The Castle adds a touch of elegance compared to other dining establishments at lunch. Our server was very attentive and met all of our needs. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The only downside might be that it was a bit pricey for lunch."

  • "My wife and I went to The Castle at Dunleith for our anniversary dinner. This is a great place to have a romantic special occasion dinner! For an appetizer I would reccomend the crab cake. For the main entree I had the duck and my wife had the Shrimp, Scallops, Jumbo Lump Crab with Artichokes. Both dishes were very good and I would reccomend both."

  • "My wife and I went here 33 years ago when the castle was a Carriage House. Now as a Castle for dinner the Ambience was Fantastic, and Romantic. I would recommend this Resturant to any one looking for a Romantic, Great Dinner place to bring someone special. Our Waitress (Janice) did an EXCELLENT job. Never let the glasses go dry, and the food came to the table once the previous plates were finished. Great attention to Detail on our waitresses part. The cost was definitely worth the service and quality of the food. Thank You again for a Wonderful Romantic Dinner that my wife and I really enjoyed."

  • "We went to dinner then breakfast this last time and they surpassed the usual excellence in all areas."

  • "Our experience was somewhat less than optimal. A large group of very loud people enjoyed themselves and annoyed every other diner! We use very little salt on our home cooked meals and the food served to us at this restaurant was barely edible due to excessive use of the NaCl shaker! If sodium in your diet is a problem, then Buyer Beware!"

  • "The Castle does not disappoint on any level. The food is exquisite and the servers take great pride in working at The Castle. The best meal to be had in Natchez. My husband's steak was tender, and seasoned beautifully. My seafood dish was out of this world. The cream brulee' was superior and my husband's bread pudding was very good. I wouldn't think of coming to Natchez and not eating at The Castle. It is not to be missed."

  • "Carried my mother to The Castle for mother's day. She has poor ambulatory skills as well as some dementia. They were extremely accommodating for her physical handicaps as well as answering her questions. The food was excellent also."

  • "Particularly perfect if you're staying at Dunleith. Not having to drive after dining makes it gracious beyond words. The food is excellent. The service is truly wonderful. Would recommend for anyone visiting Natchez for an elegant experience. "

  • "Visiting for two weeks in Natchez. Meal was perfect from excellent wine reasonably priced, one of the best steaks my wife ever had. The bread pudding was by far the best in the region including New Orleans. Succotash side with shrimp sausage was unbelievable. Service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Would recommend highly."

  • "The Dunleith is gorgeous...the Castle restaurant is in the old carriage house-with many tables jammed close to each other. The food was good..nothing spectacular as the write-up on the menu would have you believe. Shrimp was a tad overcooked. Our waitperson, James, was excellent.. familiar with the menu. He was attentive and you could tell he loved his job."

  • "The specials were great but the regular menu items we had were just ok. Service was good and our waitress was knowledgeable. Plenty of other places around to eat instead. The ambience was nice but it definitely had an old stuffy smell that sometimes come with older buildings. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but will go other places next time we are in town."

  • "We had a day trip to Natchez, and fortunately I made reservations for lunch at the Castle. Everything about this place was a treat to the senses: the food was wonderful, the service was impeccable, and the carriage house location and interior of the restaurant were visually appealing. Although Dunleith is closed to the public, because we dined at the restaurant, we had a private tour of the mansion. I can highly recommend the Castle at Dunleith."

  • "Three of us had breakfast and dinner at the Castle at Dunleith. Both meals were superb. The breakfast was excellent. I had the swordfish and the other two had the pork tenderloin for dinner. None of us have ever had better pork tenderloin. It was amazing. The swordfish was excellent as well. Highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "We enjoyed a very nice meal with excellent service at the Castle. Servings are generous so we probably didn't need to order a salad....we ended up sharing it. The building is an old carriage house that has been nicely redone; food it well prepared and it was nice to have a good selection of side dishes to choose from to go with the main dish (like risoto.) Would definately go back for another meal if in the area...heard their breakfast/brunch was good as well. It is on the grounds of a large antebellum home and just beatiful location."

  • "My husband and I came to the Castle for our first anniversary and it could not have been more perfect. We love to eat out at great restaurants with interesting menus and The Castle more than impressed us. My husbands steak was cook perfect medium rare and my Mahi special was outstanding. Equal to the great food was the excellent staff. Janice was PERFECT! The complimentary dessert for our anniversary certainly did not hurt. We will definitely be back."

  • "Dinner dining is superb, romantic. Lunch menu is subpar. Fried Chicken has stellar reputation if you eat fried chicken. We don't. Green beans were typical down home soul food seasoned with pork. Toasted potatoes, unremarkable. We expected cuisine flair aligned with the spectacular dinner meal. Eggplant dishes were unavailable, coffee cups weren't kept filled. The fried green tomatoes were the best part of the meal. Crab cake were equally fine. The stuffed catfish special was heavy on bread, light on flavor. Prices, reasonable. Meal receipts may be used for free main house tour, but not posted as "public information." Quiet atmosphere for visit with friends. Black napkin options would be welcomed. White lint covered black slacks."

  • "I met with several old friends when I was visiting near Natchez. We loved the atmosphere for lunch with the old brick walls and just the whole décor. We were seated promptly and our wait staff was very attentive. They made special accommodations for one of our party who had to be on a gluten free diet. We were not rushed and the food was very good. Such a relaxing and comfortable experience. I will definitely return when I am in the area."

  • "This is a lovely restaurant on the grounds of a historic estate. It's everything charming. Our waiter was an adorable kid who looked like he wasn't old enough to serve alcohol. He was so enthusiastic. But the FOOD! Wow. I normally don't order steak at restaurants that aren't steakhouses but ordered it here because I'm allergic to shellfish and most everything on the menu contained shellfish. My ribeye was perfection. It was SO good that even the next day the half I ended up taking home (too full) was STILL perfection. The collard greens and corn that were the sides were wonderful too."
