  • "Three of us had breakfast and dinner at the Castle at Dunleith. Both meals were superb. The breakfast was excellent. I had the swordfish and the other two had the pork tenderloin for dinner. None of us have ever had better pork tenderloin. It was amazing. The swordfish was excellent as well. Highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "We enjoyed a very nice meal with excellent service at the Castle. Servings are generous so we probably didn't need to order a salad....we ended up sharing it. The building is an old carriage house that has been nicely redone; food it well prepared and it was nice to have a good selection of side dishes to choose from to go with the main dish (like risoto.) Would definately go back for another meal if in the area...heard their breakfast/brunch was good as well. It is on the grounds of a large antebellum home and just beatiful location."

  • "My husband and I came to the Castle for our first anniversary and it could not have been more perfect. We love to eat out at great restaurants with interesting menus and The Castle more than impressed us. My husbands steak was cook perfect medium rare and my Mahi special was outstanding. Equal to the great food was the excellent staff. Janice was PERFECT! The complimentary dessert for our anniversary certainly did not hurt. We will definitely be back."

  • "Just the right amount of selections on the lunch menu for a variety of palates. Great lunch spot after a morning of touring homes during the Spring Pilgrimage."

  • "My husband and I stayed at Dunleith and ate at both the Castle and Pub during our stay. The food was fantastic along with the atmosphere and service. We will definitely be returning."

  • "Dinner dining is superb, romantic. Lunch menu is subpar. Fried Chicken has stellar reputation if you eat fried chicken. We don't. Green beans were typical down home soul food seasoned with pork. Toasted potatoes, unremarkable. We expected cuisine flair aligned with the spectacular dinner meal. Eggplant dishes were unavailable, coffee cups weren't kept filled. The fried green tomatoes were the best part of the meal. Crab cake were equally fine. The stuffed catfish special was heavy on bread, light on flavor. Prices, reasonable. Meal receipts may be used for free main house tour, but not posted as "public information." Quiet atmosphere for visit with friends. Black napkin options would be welcomed. White lint covered black slacks."

  • "Seeing how highly rated this place was put my expectation high. Great service, nice atmosphere, wonderful sides. Disappointed in the duck."

  • "I met with several old friends when I was visiting near Natchez. We loved the atmosphere for lunch with the old brick walls and just the whole décor. We were seated promptly and our wait staff was very attentive. They made special accommodations for one of our party who had to be on a gluten free diet. We were not rushed and the food was very good. Such a relaxing and comfortable experience. I will definitely return when I am in the area."

  • "The Castle is fine dining at its finest. With an attentive staff and exceptional wine list, this gem of a restaurant is perfect for a romantic dinner or for group outings."

  • "The dining experience is wonderful, along with overall atmosphere. A definite must do while in Natchez."

  • "This is a lovely restaurant on the grounds of a historic estate. It's everything charming. Our waiter was an adorable kid who looked like he wasn't old enough to serve alcohol. He was so enthusiastic. But the FOOD! Wow. I normally don't order steak at restaurants that aren't steakhouses but ordered it here because I'm allergic to shellfish and most everything on the menu contained shellfish. My ribeye was perfection. It was SO good that even the next day the half I ended up taking home (too full) was STILL perfection. The collard greens and corn that were the sides were wonderful too."

  • "Very good food and great location. Found out upon arrival that with our receipt from lunch at The Castle we could tour Dunleith. Which was an added treat."

  • "First time in natchez! Friends insisted we dine at The castle? Mixed reviews. Uncertain, we kept our reservation. Thank God we did. Romantic, cozy, elegant, divine, yummy, just a happy time! The godchaux salad was recommended and delish with shrimp! crab! capers! boiled eggs! My husband was surprised and thrilled with the sweet potato bread. Janice was the consummate professional. Perfect server, extremely knowledgable about the cuisine, preparation and wine list. She complemented the very fine experience and made the entire trip feel as if tied with a beautiful silk ribbon!"

  • "My husband and I had a great evening. Our waiter and restaurant manager was excellent. They were genuinely concerned about our dining experience. . In addition, what happened to the romance music, candles, maybe a set of string instruments?"

  • "This is the third time I've eaten at the Castle...twice for lunch and this last time for dinner. Food and service have always been great. The bar has great ambiance and the bartenders are friendly and accommodating. My favorite place to eat in Natchez."

  • "A highly imaginative menu with outstanding preparation. Likely the finest restaurant in Mississippi."

  • "The restaurant is hidden behind the main house after a long drive from the gated entrance. The food was very good and the ambience is great."

  • "Abiding beneath the beautiful oaks of Dunleith, the Castle waits to charm you! The lower deck offers a bar that is reminiscent of Old English Taverns with the fireplace. The building has the open beams and shows age without smelling dusty. The bar has a wonderful selection of spirits and wines; although I would like to recommend a bit more choice in the single malt Scotch. The upstairs dining area is spacious and provides ample lighting yet still provides the ambiance of a quiet romantic get away. Our steak was so tender we could have returned the knife unused."

  • "Great food and service, would like a little larger selection."

  • "My wife and I found the food at The Castle very good. We both had seafood for our main course (she had Tuna, I had a seafood casserole). Both dishes were well cooked and very nicely presented. So if you are not a wine drinker, I can readily recommend The Castle. However, if you enjoy wine with your dinner, the wine list can be treacherous. The list is extensive but seriously overpriced. One example is a Ramey Chardonnay that retails for $35 and is offered at The Castle for $130. We settled for a Neyers Chardonnay that retails for $29 and was a comparative bargain at $85 -- still overpriced, but not as bad as the Ramey. If the wine list were more reasonably priced, I would have given The Castle four stars."

  • "We were quite pleased with our meal. The portions were generous, and everything tasted delicious. It is nice that diners have the option of ordering a la carte or from a list of entrees that come with sides. Our waitress was personable, friendly, and attentive. When we expressed our delight over one of the complimentary rolls, she saw to it that we were given some to take home! Can't beat that!"

  • "My wife and I had a wonderful time at the castle. The property is truly amazing and we really were impressed by the pub in the basement of the property. The food was amazing! Great destination for the food adventurer."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner at the Castle. My husband and I both had one of the specials--grilled mahi mahi with pesto risotto and it was one of the best grilled fish dishes that I have ever had. Very flavorful. We will definitely be back!"

  • "We were very pleased with our food, the selections available, prices, and the beautiful setting and ambiance. We had to ask twice for our drinks, and twice more for our complementary bread. Our saving grace was a more experienced manager (we assumed) who was constantly checking on guests and was able to take care of us in the absence of an attentive server. Our only other complaint was that we were seated in between two other tables, so close that we were bumping elbows, which might have been tolerable were it not for a lady seated next to us who had a loud screechy voice and talked incessantly about being pulled over for a sobriety test and politics, repeatedly slamming her hand on the table in her anger over Obamacare."

  • "Special in every way! Could not have been improved on! This was our 4th Thanksgiving to eat at The Castle...it has become our tradition. Our special compliments to our waitress, Theresa, I think that was her name, who did an outstanding job."

  • "There are several enjoyable restaurants in Natchez but The Castle at Dunleith is by far my favorite in town!! Excellent setting with the best dishes in town!! (not to mention the best wine list in town!!)"

  • "We have dinner here every time we come to Natchez. My favorite? The filet and the Godchaux salad. Their breakfast buffet is always delicious also!"

  • "We've been to this restaurant five times over the years. It has consistently served us some of our favorite food we've ever eaten!"
    Dined on 11/1/2013
  • "Food was tremendous!! Service deteriorated as night went on. Dessert, which needed to be ordered with entree due to prep time, was never mentioned by server. Had to wait and wait on check while server appeared to be "shooting the breeze" with the manager. Our table was over in a secluded corner, which was very intimate, but which apparently meant that we were forgotten about by the staff."
