Stopped by as I was in the area after work. A few first timers joined me. Food was served a little on the cold side. Fried chicken was good. Overall, nothing overwhelmingly good to write about. Staff was pleasant, no complaints in that respect.

Made a last minute reservation as we were all in the mood for some BBQ. The place is rather large with a decent sized bar near the entrance and up tempo music playing. Mostly a 30 something crowd. Food was good, had the pit platter for two, which was fried chicken, brisket, ribs and one other small portion of meat (I cant remember) with a side of fries. All of them were good, but, still not like having BBQ in some southern states. It seems that TCB likes to put their own little twist on things with respect to seasoning etc. I have a feeling everything is pre-cooked and re-heated when ordered? Food all came out way too quick. Overall, service was good as well. Tables are a little cramped. I would repeat, just not right away.

If you define fun as waiting an hour and 15 minutes to be seated, then hurry to Carbon Bar. Booked for 9:30. Seated at 10:45. Waiter: "Welcome to Carbon Bar. This menu only lasts for 15 minutes. At 11pm we convert to our snacks only menu." Say what? Is Toronto so insecure it's trying to imitate New York? If yes, poorly played, sir. NYC would at least comp you a free round for your trouble.

I booked TCB for an anniversary dinner for my husband and I, based on a great review from Joanna Kates (August North York Post). Her review was spot on. The moment we arrived, we were greeted quickly and warmly by the hostesses, and were offered to hang our coats. When we were escorted into the dining room, we were greeted by a beautiful space, with high ceilings and a vibrant bar area. Service was quick, polite and very pleasant. Bar snacks (chicken skin ... a must, and peppers) were tasty. Oysters and Salad were fresh and presented well. But the masterpiece was the BBQ platter. Succulent brisket, the best ribs in the city and boneless, crispy Southern fried chicken to die for. Spectacular and reasonable! We can't wait to return

The decor and service are excellent. The food is quirky and portions are small. Sides must be ordered separately. The pork side ribs were quite greasy although the accompanying container of BBQ sauce was excellent. Blackened sea bass is well prepared but for $26 you'd expect more than just a small serving of fish on the place with some "decorative" veggies. Servers aim to please and front reception staff were obsessive about getting us to check our coats, which we notice most people did not do, nor did we.

My friend and I had a lot of catching up to do and the server was great, left us to get caught up but at the same time we were never in need of anything. Loved the slaw, the hot mess had changed presentation but was equally as delicious as before. Meat good.

Came highly recommended and did not disappoint! The service was just right, attentive yet provided just enough time to decide on our selection. Our server Shane made a number of great recommendations and we took them all and loved the choices. If you are in the Church and Queen area - stop in, better if you can make a reservation.

the food is outstanding and the service superb. We go here all the time but finding a table could be a challenge as the place is always packed. I was never a meat lover until I discovered this place. The meat platter is fantastic, thanks for making me love meat. The sides like "a sploppy mess" is so yummy and messy, give it a try. They just added a fish platter that I'm going to try this evening, let you know!!!! All their appetizers are outstanding

What a great experience, delicious food, the platter of ribs and brisket was mouthwatering and the deboned peices of fried chicken were outstanding, paired with a tasty Oregon Pinot noir at a good price. I liked the charcoal infused tromba margarita. Thanks to Liz for excellent service.

The Raw Salad was delicious and so was the Chocolate bite dessert. But I wouldn't go back just for those. We had the Pork Tacos and the Loaded Potatoes, neither was that great. The taco shell was a weird texture and got soggy quickly, and the meat was not seasoned well. The flavours of the ingredients on the loaded potato did not work well, only if the toppings and the potato were separated then it tasted decent. The only redeeming factor was that there was cilantro on everything and I absolutely love cilantro. Wouldn't recommend it unless you're in the area and you don't feel like trekking it to another part of downtown.

Minimal selection on the wine list and a Waaay over priced for a small glass of wine for a non-descript wine. Cole slaw accompanying the ribs was okay but just "okay". Menu is calorie intensive so a low cal option needs to appear.

Went to the carbon bar for my bf's bday and it had a great time. The atmosphere was nice but a little loud - we had to yell to hear each other and the service was a bit slow (but it was pretty busy so it was understandable). The food was amazing! I'll probably be dreaming about that sea bass :)

it would be great if you could order the chicken as a stand alone dish but it must be ordered with a platter of meat (min 2 people). The cheese arepa was not a satisfactory alternative for a non red meat eater. It would also be helpful if the "doggie bag" could be brought to the table instead of being given a coat check ticket for it. We received the ticket well before the bill with no instructions about where to pick it up and consequently forgot about it. Is there a reason why it can't be brought to the table? The waiter was great

Loved the bar area and enjoyed their smokey Manhattan. Our brisket was juicy, the fries nice and crispy. The dessert, peaches w blueberry compote was a little disappointing, too soupy and was more blueberry dish than peaches. Very good vibe and busy place on a Tuesday night. Great job with the decor.

Upon arriving, we were greeted with a friendly welcome. They did inform us that they didn't have a highchair, but were very accommodating and warmed our baby's food for us. We were there early (5:15) and they were just doing a team meeting, and it filled in by the time we left. The food was amazing, and very friendly staff with seamless hand offs between servers. Food was fresh and a big enough serving. Also, was pleasantly surprised to find that they had large format bottle of Labatt 50! By the end, they even knew our daughters name. We'll be back for sure!

I didn't appreciate BBQ was the primary focus, so was pleasantly surprised. As a bit of a BBQ cook and afficianado, I must admit to being impressed. The side ribs were moist with good flavour, nice bark and quite tasty. The brisket was superb with a wonderfully smoky flavour and extremely moist. the chicken was very crisp and yet still moist inside. Good job! Place got packed pretty quickly for a Tuesday night. Service was pretty good, though I felt potentially rushed, which would be the only thing that would irk me. Then again maybe it was just enthusiasm from front of house to get me sat down or from the server to be proficient.

Everything about this meal was great! We started with cocktails and kettle corn (one of the best Manhattans I've had in the city). We ordered the platter with slaw and fries. The food came out in about 5 minutes; straight from the smoker apparently. The brisket and ribs were divine. The fried chicken was slightly fatty but still spiced nicely. The service here was impeccable-very attentive and friendly. We were even given a glass of rosé after our meal while we sat and chatted, which was the perfect ending to a delicious meal!

Without question, the best barbecue in TO. The plate with pork ribs, beef brisket, and fried chicken was supernal, the fries and slaw ideal accompaniments. Tuna tartare and fried chicken skin starters were amazing. The goat cheese ice cream with honey and roasted peaches with sweet corn ice cream and fresh local blueberries were a perfect ending. Finally, the service was prompt, professional, and very helpful: the server recommended 2 meat platters for the three of us. We would go back in a minute, and have already recommended Carbon Bar to friends.

Oysters, kale salad, ribs, octopus, grilled peach with corn ice cream, chocolate bar ( more a bite ). Everything was delicious. Although we waited at least 30 mins after the oysters to get the mains. Service was friendly overall but spotty. Our waiter seemed to be having an off night. And why tell us to have to vacate the table by a certain time, when the food weren't served in a timely manner, and there clearly were other tables available? We stayed way past our time slot and enjoyed desserts and coffee. There's room for improvement, I suppose.
