  • "This local area bar and restaurant is great for a date, drink and loud conversation. The high ceilings and loud music makes communication a challenge. You would do better to text one another. Food was decent. Their speciality, a BBQ hodge podge of brisket, ribs and fried chicken was tatsty. Service was excellent."

  • "Upon arriving, we were greeted with a friendly welcome. They did inform us that they didn't have a highchair, but were very accommodating and warmed our baby's food for us. We were there early (5:15) and they were just doing a team meeting, and it filled in by the time we left. The food was amazing, and very friendly staff with seamless hand offs between servers. Food was fresh and a big enough serving. Also, was pleasantly surprised to find that they had large format bottle of Labatt 50! By the end, they even knew our daughters name. We'll be back for sure!"

  • "I didn't appreciate BBQ was the primary focus, so was pleasantly surprised. As a bit of a BBQ cook and afficianado, I must admit to being impressed. The side ribs were moist with good flavour, nice bark and quite tasty. The brisket was superb with a wonderfully smoky flavour and extremely moist. the chicken was very crisp and yet still moist inside. Good job! Place got packed pretty quickly for a Tuesday night. Service was pretty good, though I felt potentially rushed, which would be the only thing that would irk me. Then again maybe it was just enthusiasm from front of house to get me sat down or from the server to be proficient."

  • "Everything about this meal was great! We started with cocktails and kettle corn (one of the best Manhattans I've had in the city). We ordered the platter with slaw and fries. The food came out in about 5 minutes; straight from the smoker apparently. The brisket and ribs were divine. The fried chicken was slightly fatty but still spiced nicely. The service here was impeccable-very attentive and friendly. We were even given a glass of rosé after our meal while we sat and chatted, which was the perfect ending to a delicious meal!"

  • "Without question, the best barbecue in TO. The plate with pork ribs, beef brisket, and fried chicken was supernal, the fries and slaw ideal accompaniments. Tuna tartare and fried chicken skin starters were amazing. The goat cheese ice cream with honey and roasted peaches with sweet corn ice cream and fresh local blueberries were a perfect ending. Finally, the service was prompt, professional, and very helpful: the server recommended 2 meat platters for the three of us. We would go back in a minute, and have already recommended Carbon Bar to friends."

  • "Oysters, kale salad, ribs, octopus, grilled peach with corn ice cream, chocolate bar ( more a bite ). Everything was delicious. Although we waited at least 30 mins after the oysters to get the mains. Service was friendly overall but spotty. Our waiter seemed to be having an off night. And why tell us to have to vacate the table by a certain time, when the food weren't served in a timely manner, and there clearly were other tables available? We stayed way past our time slot and enjoyed desserts and coffee. There's room for improvement, I suppose."

  • "This was my second time here. First time was 2 weeks after it opened and it was amazing, which is why I came back. I wasn't nearly as impressed…both the brisket and chicken was dry and I found the platter at 27$ a head, expensive. Collards were great, cocktails were out of this world. Server was fantastic with extensive knowledge of the wine list!"

  • "We went on a Saturday evening. Our server, Sam, was fantastic! The menu is a little usual and he spent time explaining the different choices. We tried the brisket and ribs. My boyfriend and I were blown away - no sauce and yet, so yummy! We will have to go back to try more things on the menu! When I made the reservation on open table, I was called back by the hostess to let me know that we would only have the table for 2 hours - which I find a little perculiar. It's understandable if I am not ordering anything or sipping on a glass of wine, but if I want appetizers, entree, desert and a couple of bottles of wine, 2 hours is rushed. Our waiter never made us feel rushed, which made the evening that much more enjoyable."

  • "I took mates from the UK and US here for a group dinner (X8) (my 3rd visit), service was still fantastic, bar staff are brilliant, and the food. Not a huge menu but that's not an issue. The Brisket, Collard Green and the Slaw are my go to items. The Hot Mess I tried for the first time, it was so tasty... good enough to have on its own. Great decor, great space, super happy it's in my neighbourhood. I've only been for dinner so can't comment what its like during the day but take it for what it is an enjoy!"

  • "If you go to Carbon, try to sit in Lorne's section. He was the most attentive and responsive server I have had in recent memory and really made the meal memorable. The food was good. We had the raw salad and the Pit Master. Salad was yummy though just a bit too much dressing. Pit Master was good. Love the variety (brisket, ribs, fried chicken). Not my favourite BBQ in Toronto (that still goes to Hogtown in the Beaches) but decent. Also had the cole slaw and fries. Both good. And the space is gorgeous! Would be fun to go with a large group and order lots of dishes but we had more than enough for two people."

  • "The fish platter was good but the prawns and crab knuckle were impossible to eat. It was very expensive. $50.00 however the oysters were outstanding. The main course was good but not Note Bene quality. I would not associate Note Bene to the Corner Wine Bar. For those who are regular customers of Note Bene, it sets up a false expectation. The dinner was too expensive. Same cost of Note Bene but not near the value. We will not return but we are going back to Note Bene next week."

  • "Love the high ceilings as keeps the place cool and airy. when busy you get a great vibe, but you don't have to shout to be heard - best of both worlds. Staff are always helpful and obviously well-trained. Food is always great and cooked with precision."
