Diner Reviews
  • "We celebrated a friend's 70th birthday. Our meal was wonderful. One of our group required a gluten free meal. Our server, Marcello, was very educated on what the restaurant had to offer and had wonderful suggestions. The complimentary champagne and dessert for the birthday boy was a wonderful treat and it was only topped by the presentation of a photo of the event at the end of our meal. The meal and evening couldn't have been more festive. It was an A+++ experience! Thank you Capital Grille Tysons."

  • "Capital Grille is one of my favorite restaurants. I was here for lunch. The seared tuna which I ordered on top of a Caesar salad was nothing like the dinner appetizer. It arrived ice cold, completely raw, chewy and tasteless. The shrimp on my friend's salad was also bland and did not taste fresh. I have never been to this location before and I'm not so sure I will try again. Very disappointing."

  • "the Capital Grill in downtown DC. The noise level was much too high for a special night out at a very expensive restaurant. Nevertheless, the food was outstanding and Walter our server was excellent. Recommend not rushing through explaining the specials, however. If the servers can't explain everything in a timely manner without rushing, then the chef needs to downsize the number of specials being offered."

  • "We had a great night at the Capital Grille. We were celebrating a brithday, when we got there the table was decorated. We ordered a bottle of champagne recomended by the waiter. My boyfriend got raw oysters to start and myelf lobster bisque, both were delicious! We each ordered a great steak and shared lobster mac and cheese. Dinner was complete with a special birthday dessert."

  • "This was our first time at this restaurant. While my husband loved the Delmonico steak entree he had, I don't eat red meat and had the Breast of Chicken Confit. The chicken on my plate was certainly not a breast, there were two legs which were a bit dry and overcooked, very heavily seasoned. The calamari, while tasty, was way too spicy due to the fact they were smothered in peppers. For dessert we tried the seasonal berries in vanilla cream...I guess we were both expecting a nice thick whipped cream topping the berries, but instead it was a sour tasting liquid sitting in the bottom of the bowl. We will not be returning."

  • "My wife and I had the special bone-in filet. The steak was fantastic. However, we were surrounded by families with out of control children. Apparently if you go to an expensive steak house on a Saturday night you are not expected to watch your children. It was not a pleasant experience. I'm not sure if I would go back."

  • "Staff was excellent. Noted we were dining there for a birthday lunch. They led us to a table sprinkled with confetti, and brought a complimentary dessert with happy birthday wishes. Even took a photo and presented us with it after the meal. Unexpected! Food was very good, on par with other steakhouse chains and probably a bit above a Morton's or Ruth's Chris. Lunch selection was somewhat limited but very good. The homemade sodas were refreshing on a sweltering summer day. Dining room is full of dark wood and clubby. A portrait of former Maine Sen. Margaret Chase Smith hung over our table. Interesting to have a bit of history (the first female US senator) dining with us. Haha! Overall very solid, with exceptional wait service."

  • "Perfect place to take someone special for their birthday. Specially decorated table and card await. The complementaty desert serves two and has Happy Birthday inscribed on the plate with chicolate. Jose is super friendly and a real pro for knowing the menu given we were only open to seafood. I wish i didn't have to use valet parking but it was the only choice."

  • "The service was superb and the food was outstanding. Everything flowed very well like a choreographed scene from a fine dining segment. Everyone had a great time!"

  • "I had the steak au poivre. It was cooked perfectly (medium rare, of course); it was tender; it was peppery and delicious. My wife had the glazed salmon, and she agreed that it was excellent. One of the best parts of our experience was our server. Becca was outstanding: she understood everything about the menu; she was there whenever we wanted her to be present; but she never hovered. One last comment: do not overlook the freshly baked bread. This place is expensive, but it's worth the cost on any special occasion."

  • "Overpriced for average food ($450 for 4 (2 kids) inc tip 1 gin and tonic, one coffee) Gluten free menu fine but rest of menu not as advertised on website (no Wagyu Beef etc) Large seafood platter as a starter was good ($100), Chicken and Steak dishes overcooked and tough. Tuna was good. Special bone in steak was very good. Creme Brule was good - enormous chocolate cake slice was 4 times the size needed. Ended up bagging the cake and vegetables. Excessive spend on $2 bottled water (no sparkling despite request). Over involved wait staff kept interrupting conversation with amongst other things photos of vacation 30 years ago - not what I want to do at a restaurant. Old fashioned and not up to standard for price, we won't be back."

  • "Capital Grill really knows how to treat business professionals. Invited a new prospective high end customer out to dinner at their Tyson's Corner location this past week and wasn't disappointed at all. Our Waiter was extremely friendly, patient and funny. wish I could remember his name since I would request to be served by him again in the future. I highly recommend dining at Capital Grill for any and all occasions."

  • "Another nice evening at Capital Grille. Husbands bone-in sirloin was cooked perfectly. I tried the new preparation for the Sea Bass. While I wanted something light, the sea bass wasn't flavorful enough to make me forget the porcini rubbed Delmonico I really wanted. Apples and oranges, I know. Ruth's sea bass is better. Tried the new potato dish Oscar. The hollandaise and crab were delicious but why waste them on potatoes? The creamed corn is excellent as well as the au gratin potatoes which can be ordered in a ½ portion. Cheese cake has a lovely preparation individualy sized with ripe berries. This meal is worth the calorie splurge."

  • "Pros: The service was great. The waitress serving us was very helpful and nice and the other staff members were also very nice people. Cons: Parking is horrible. All of the parking in the front was valet parking. I went to this restaurant on a Sunday and I had the choice of parking beneath the restaurant in the garage or valet parking my car. I parked beneath, figuring it would be a short walk to the restaurant. I was wrong. The parking garage elevators and buliding lobby entrance to the restaurant are closed on the weekend. So, I had to walk out of the garage where I drove in, walk around the entire building up a hill, and enter the restaurant from the front. I repeated the same thing afterwards. The food was not great, and pricey warm."

  • "Went for brunch Had 4 decent meals a few drinks. Food was served cold and returned two plates. Bill was 212 without tip and felt I didn't get my monies worth. Believe I got a 145 dollar meal for 212. Wouldn't go back for brunch."

  • "Service was excellent. All of the hostesses were very friendly. The spinach salad was the best I ever tasted. The baked chicken was ok. The mac-n-cheese lobster could use a little more flavor in some way. The bread basket was routine."

  • "Things didn't exactly turn out like they usually do at this Fine Establishment, but I must say Gordon did ALL the right things to correct the situation, and that speaks volumes. Will definitely return when back in the area, solely due to Gordon's efforts to make that happen. Capitol Grill has an excellent reputation which is well deserved. The best steak restaurant my family and I have ever been too, time and time again. There are always some bumps in the road, how they are handled makes all the difference and Gordon certainly went over and above with his sincerity and genuine concern to make it right."

  • "This is our go to restaurant for special occasions. The staff is top notch, the food is unparalleled, and the wine list definitive. We don't eat here often, but when the occasion calls for everything to be spot on, we choose Capital Grille in Tysons."

  • "We ate at Capital Grille for Wife's birthday. When we arrived our table was decorated, and Capital Grille had a birthday card waiting for her. Capital Grille included a free desert, with candles, and “Happy Birthday” stenciled in chocolate on the serving plate. Nice touch. Great food/service, reasonably priced, and Capital Grille is in a prime location for a Birthday Girl to do a little shopping before and/or after a nice lunch. Excellent experience."

  • "Hi Everything was lovely, menu, service, seating. However two of my parties filet mignons were rare, not pink throughout, but almost inedible. I imagine the kitchen was overwhelmed with the dining load and this was atypical. Thank you."

  • "This is our second Easter at Capital Grille and while the food was very good, we definitely missed the buffet that they had before. The kids menu choices were not that great and our kids ended up eating off our plates, so that was a little disappointing. The food was very good though."

  • "My husband and I took his parents to the Capital Grille for my father-in-law's 80th birthday. When we arrived, there were birthday decorations on the table as well as a card and we were given complimentary champagne. Our server, Coach, was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive the entire evening. Food was excellent, mine and my father-in-law's filets were cooked to perfection, as was my hubby's Dry Aged Steak au Poivre with Courvoisier Cream and mom-in-law's halibut. Everything done to perfection and quite tasty. Father-in-law was also treated to birthday dessert on the house. Thank you Capital Grille for making this a perfect evening from start to finish!"
