As always the Capital Grill was very good. I will put it right up there with the Morton's and other top spots for staek and seafood across the country.

The food was fantastic, the wine list impressive and the service quite pleasing. We visited on "father/daughter dinner night" so our party of four was stuffed next to a very raucous table of 20+. We could hardly hear our own conversation; the restaurant was too packed to be seated elsewhere.

Steaks were great. Wine was spoiled. We tried three bottles and even the waiter agreed. We previously dined with the restaurant the week before and everything was great. This restaurant will want to double check their wine room. Otherwise, food was terrific as always. Just embarrassing when you take another couple that has never dined with Capital Grille before and this happens:(

For the past 3 or 4 years, my husband and I have gone to Capital Grille on Christmas Eve, and this was the first Christmas Eve that we've had a disappointing experience. Our waiter was lousy, and the food wasn't up to par, either. Needless to say, we will probably end our tradition of going to Capital Grille on Christmas Eve. We eat at Capital Grille about once a month, and now, when the thought of going there comes to mind, we will consider going elsewhere for our meal.

We came in for my birthday. When we arrived at our table, it was decorated with confetti sprinkles and a birthday card signed by the staff. Our dinner was delicious and our server did a fine job, although she had a few glitches here and there. At the end, she brought a piece of amazing chocolate cake with a candle, compliments of Capital Grille. She also took a photo of my husband and me, then gave us the framed print as we were leaving. Some very nice, unexpected touches that made this dinner stand out as a special occasion. I would highly recommend Capital Grille as a restaurant to use when celebrating good things in life!

Was there for a special anniversary dinner. Extremely attentive staff. They openly accommodated the special diet requirements of 1 of our guests. Excellent Food. While they might be known for their beef (which was incredible!), their salmon was some of the best that I have ever had. Will definitely be back!

  • I've been to Capital Grille
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007VIP
    Dined on 12/18/2008
I've been to Capital Grille several times, but this was the first lunch I had there. The food was excellent, but because it's right before the holidays and the restaurant was packed, the service was somewhat lacking (although not rude) only because the wait staff was overworked. I definitely recommend Capital Grille for an upscale lunch or dinner or even eating in the bar. The calamari (which is usually not my absolute favorite) is outstanding here. On this particular occasion, I had the ahi and the two diners I was with had the filet and the salmon. Everyone enjoyed there meals despite how busy the restaurant was that day. A must try for those whose haven't been there.

We were met with great service as to be expected form this fine restaurant. Superb wine list, eve by the glass. If you want more romantic setting ask for a table in the side room which only has about eight tables and is away from main dining area. Main dining area is more active and excellent if you want more lively yet still upscale. Steaks were very good and there were four choices of rubs/toppings. The Kona decaf coffee rub was the choice of the table but others looked as inviting. Try the calamaria it is different from anything I have ever had before - wonderful flavor. Well worth going.

Capital Grille is no surprise with good food and good service with nice atmosphere. However, because of the overall pricing, "value for your money" is not at these types of restaurants. CG is much more of a special occasions spot of a place to do business entertainment.

This is actually the first time that I have had a bad food experience with the Captial Grille. I have visited both the DC and Chicago locations and the food and service has always been top of the line so my expectations were very high. This particular night the waitstaff was very slow and my steak was not prepared properly. I requested med-well but my steak was overcooked and tasted charred.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

I wish I could give this restaurant more than three stars, but the experience just didn't merit it. The restaurant is nice inside, but nothing spectacular. The service was very good. The food was good, but it was nothing special. My husband and I both commented to friends the next day that we weren't wowed by the food. Our friends said they had the same reaction and have not been back. I will probably not go back. There are so many other restaurants that deliver a lot more for what you pay. Dinner for two ran about $160 before tip. For that, I expect the food to be something special.

We're always welcomed to the Capital Grille with a blend of warmth and professionalism . . . and that was consistent this time. When I made my reservation through OPEN TABLE I promptly received my confirmation and with purpose I included a special request for preferable seating as we were entertaining an out of town client. To my surprise we were lead to a table (not a booth) right outside the kitchen doors - not something that I would by any means consider preferable. Nonetheless the service and food were consistently good . . .

The only disappointment we had was one of my guests forgot their $300 sunglasses on the table. We called and after they looked they said they could not find them. We told them to take another look because WE KNOW they were there and only after getting quite stern and letting them know we knew they were there, they then called back and said they found them. So it was somewhat disappointing as it appeared someone was trying to keep them at first. How did they find them only after the second attempt. ither they were there or they were not. In any event, it makes us feel a little uncomfortable but the food was great!

I have always loved the Capital Grille. However, I ordered one if their specials of the evening, (scallops), that was very bland and disappointing. Also, the waitor seemed in a hurry to leave. I have always had the best service at the Captial Grille in the past, so I was surprised. Also, they changed their wine list, removing my favorite Chardonnay. And- they changed their cheesecake- adding a creme brulee top that truly took away from what used to be my favorite dessert.

We always enjoy the Capital Grille. It is one of the few places that has energy but is also quiet enough to allow one to enjoy a conversation. The service was very good. Food is predictable and consistant but very, very good. The menu is nothing exotic but they have really good steaks. We prefer Capital Grille to all other (Ruth Chris...) similar category steak houses.

We've dined at Capital Grille restaurants in other cities and were expecting a comparable quality at the Phoenix restaurant. We could not have been more disappointed--in the service or in the food when it finally arrived. To her credit, the manager apologized for our unhappy experience and did not charge us for the meal. We will return in March 2009 in the hope that our experience last year was an aberration.
