  • "Our party of five had dinner before a play. The waitress was sure to get us served and out of the restaurant on time. The waitress was very experienced and efficiently answered all questions. The salads and calamari were good. The table ordered both steak and fish entrees. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The fish was a little on the dry side. The wine was excellent. We would return again. "

  • "Went there for a family birthday celebration for my brother. The steaks ordered were good, the fish ordered were extremely bland, no flavoring or sauce served with them. Lobster was chewy. The hazelnut cake which a few of us ordered for dessert since the waitress recommended it was served cold(it needed to be refrigerated) and that's how it was served. It had absolutely no flavor, we all took a bite or two and didn't eat the rest. They did take the cake off of our bill. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and great service. They did decorate the table for the occasion which was a really nice touch."

  • "I have always wanted to got to Capital Grille so I was excited to learn of a location within walking distance from our hotel near Times Square. Our server Danny P. was knowledgeable, made us feel welcome and never rushed allowing us time to relax and enjoy the entire meal at a leisurely pace. Both our meals were excellent; the filet melted in my mouth and we really enjoyed the sides, especially the asparagus, roasted baby potatoes with snow crab (yes I know it sounds weird but it was a delicious combo). We loved sitting across from the glass enclosed wine cellar & enjoyed viewing the open kitchen. It was a great meal with excellent service and can't wait to dine in a closer location to home in either Providence or Boston."

  • "Capital grill accommodated us for dinner at the spur of the moment. We had reservations at another steak place to celebrate 4 friends' 50th birthdays - and they tried to jam us in a small booth. Capital grill's food was fantastic and the service was even better. Thank you Capital Grill, we had a great time!"

  • "I brought my girlfriend here for her 30th birthday (which I mentioned when setting the reservation). From the moment we sat down at the table until we left, our waiter John made the occasion truly special. The table was decorated with a card, and the final dessert was delicious and presented with class. We even got to take home a photo to memorialize the night. This is not our first experience at the restaurant, and have even been lucky enough to have John as our waiter on a few occasions. It is this great service that will bring us back again. Thanks for everything."

  • "I had heard the Capital Grille was a "chain" and expensive so I wasn't sure what to expect. The space is enormous, but they've done a great job making it feel like several smaller spaces, cozy despite the cavernous ceilings. The bar is especially cozy, with a great drink menu. We met friends for valentine's day so it wasn't too crowded but that was okay. We got great food and service. If I;m in midtown again I will definitely stop by! Great for a business lunch of job interview."

  • "As usual, Capital Grille did not disappoint! The food was delicious, the service was outstanding and the ambiance was special. Took a friend who had never been and he loved it too! I recommend the lobster/crab cakes - divine!"

  • "When served, unbeknownst to us, each of us was given the incorrect steak. I cut into it my steak and my son ate a few bites of his steak. The waiter realized the mistake, switched my husband's and my steaks, and replaced my son's with the correct one. Subsequently the waiter realized my husband had again been given a second incorrect steak, so he retrieved the one he had taken from my son (with bites missing) and gave it to my husband. He left the other steak - so my husband had 2 steaks, each of which had not only been served first to others at the table but cut into (one was partially eaten)! The waiter brought a complimentary dessert - allegedly a coconut concoction, but I could not discern any coconut in it. Highlight: creamed spinach."

  • "We celebrated our daughter's 30th birthday there - just the four of us but they treated us so well! Birthday confetti on the table and a birthday card !They brought a champagne toast to us as well! And at the end of our meal they took a photo for us to take home! Of course also there was a beautiful dessert at the end! This is a real favorite of ours! The steak is always superb as well as the salads and soups, potatoes and veggies! Creme brulee was excellent too! We shall be back!"

  • "The food was very good. My steak was cooked perfectly but my wife's fish was a bit dry. Our waitress was terrible. Very unfriendly and unhelpful. Cleared the bread from our table before our entrees arrived without asking. When she put the check on the table, she just dropped it and continued to walk away without saying thank you or asking if our meal was alright. It's an expensive restaurant and customers should be treated accordingly."

  • "One non-advertized feature is the pre-theater special. This is a great deal and we highly recommend this. It is a limited menu but the choices are great...I had the Kona Crusted Sirloin...delicious. My wife had the 8oz Filet. For two, this comes with two sides (one per person), a very generous Caesar Salad...and desert. Outstanding value...and highly recommended!"

  • "Made reservation and when arrived no hesitation to sit us. Our waiter was friendly and make sure we understood the menu. The key to a great restaurant is the service and they were great. At least 3 people making sure our water as full and the table clean. We were 4 people worj our young adults so it was great."

  • "This is an always reliable steak house. This location has a very frenetic pace that I found very distracting. The food was very good as has been the case when I have visited 5 other of their locations. The wait service was definitely below the standard I am used to. The waiter seemed to be rushing around and it was evident in how quickly he put down our plates and poured our wine, as if he needed to get back to the kitchen for the next order and didn't care about us. This meal was during the week and the restaurant was mostly business people who don't mind this atmosphere."

  • "Very disappointing. Not what I expect of a Capital Grille. It was a convenient meeting place for the theater I was attending that night."

  • "I made reservations for a family gathering dinner not knowing what to expect for my two little kids and it was wonderful Since I have a 3 yr and a 6mth old baby, we made dinner reservations for 6:00pm so it won't get too crowded and was afraid my son was going to be noisy. The staff was really nice to my 3 y.o and made sure we had enough space at our table to place the carseat by our table. Our relatives from England love the food and said the steak was great plus portions size were huge. I would definitely go back again and parking was great for a Sunday. We found parking right outside the restaurant."

  • "I've been going to the Capital Grille-NY now for several years. Great place for excellent food in the Theatre District. I recommend it to all my family and friends and they love it, too. Great fish and steak dishes. Excellent wait staff who will accommodate all your needs, especially a birthday celebration. Go there, it won't disappoint you. Lots of booths and tables, but make a reservation. The place is usually packed."

  • "Table for 1 on business, greeted and seated w/pleasantries, not always the norm with single diners. Had 10oz filet medium with roasted mushrooms & smoked salmon appetizer. Quality & quantity was quite good and ample but one would expect that for higher end steak house near Times Square, given all the local competition. Generally had fair experiences at chain high end steak houses like Cap Grill and Ruth Chris and generally avoid in favor off one offs like Grill 23 in Boston, Del Frisco's in Vegas or Birks in San Jose (all phenomenal) but Del Frisco's NYC didn't have a table. This time Times Square cap grill was very good on food and service fronts. Only complaint was medium was served when asked for medium + but it was fine. Would go again."

  • "We went there during our restaurant week, and everything is perfect. We were also very impressed with the variety of their wine selection. some of them are very reasonally priced. One of our friends took us there as a thank you for staying with us, it definitely one of the best steak restaurants we like."

  • "When we arrived for our 6pm reservation, we were informed rather rudely that the 4pms are still sitting and it will be an half hour wait. We explained we had a 8 pm show. He then offered to seat us in the bar area where we would have a server. We then decided to sit in the bar area and he told us to sit at the 2nd to last table. Did not even walk us over to the table. Thanks to Danny our server to making us very comfortable with drinks on the house and a warm and inviting dining experience. He is the reason we had an enjoyable dinner. While we were eating our salads the manager came to our table, we had asked to see him 1 hour ago and asked if we wanted to move to the dining room, he was worried about us. How phony. We stayed"

  • "not my first choice in the neighborhood - every time I go there, there seems to be something off - this time it was the service - other times it's been the food. But it looks nice and isn't as loud as most places, which makes it good for conversations."

  • "WhenI made the reservation there was a comment box which I filled in I must say I was very disappointed for I put in a note in that stating a birthday message which was not even bought up! The gentleman behind the concierge desk was rude & not pleasant. I walked in he did not make eye contact nor greet us! "I said im here for my reservation under .... ( I gave him the name on the reservation) n he responds back n whos the reservation under? If he acknowledged me n listened to me he would have heard me say the name on the reservation! At this point he dismissed me to hang my coat at the coat check n wait on the side! I was turned off that moment n wanted to leave but heard many good things about the food so I decided to stay."

  • "My husband and were staying in a nearby hotel and noticed this restaurant on the cab ride. Since it was close, we thought we'd try it. We don't have a Capital Grille in our city, so we were looking forward to trying it. We were not disappointed. The service and food were excellent. It was not cheap, but you'd have to know that as soon as you walked into the door. There were many "power luncheon meetings" going on all around us. I had a cup of the lobster bisque and it was outstanding. We were in and out in less than an hour and had a very good meal."

  • "Maybe it was just his location, but we were seated next to an exterior door. An alarm outside the door went off 3-4 times. The exterior door went out into a lobby which was very bright and distracting. It ruined the ambience of the restaurant. I ordered the filet and it was a nice cut of meat, but had little to no flavor. For the price I expected the food to be much better. Our bill was $350 with tip. It did not exceed my expectation. I rate the overall experience as good, not great."

  • "I used the restaurant week opportunity to try this place for a dinner with the family. I'm glad I did that. The starters were 2 different salads and clam chowder soup. Soup was OK, but the salads were a joke. Just iceberg and maybe some grated cheese. The entrees were small in size (maybe because of the restaurant week) but the taste was good and were well made. We were highly disappointed in desserts as well. We ordered cheese cake and espresso chocolate cake, both were bad and and not fresh at all. I was surprised, a restaurant with a big name and reputation usually does not mess up like this. One great hing was the bread basket, really fresh warm and soft. Service was very good. Ambiance was OK, nothing special."

  • "If you are to visit Capital Grille on 51st street, please make sure you request for Hannah Hester. She is very attentive and anticipates the diner's requests or needs. She knows how to ask questions that will satisfy the palette. She is an exemplary role model in anticipating your needs through out the culinary experience. Also has a great personality and smile that warms the dining experience."
