They were very nice and surprised us with a complementary dessert for our anniversay...which was totally unexpected. We chose it because it was highly rated and we could get reservations for the time we wanted. We were not disappointed. Dinner was excellent. My halibut dish was very satisfying. And my wedge salad was fresh, crisp and cold. Everyone else in my party thoroughly enjoyed their meal as well. This time it was for brunch and it was 3 courses -- appetizer, entree and dessert. I had the clam chowder and my husband the salmon for appetizers and for entrees we both had the prime rib with two poached eggs with holandaise and roasted potatoes and cherry tomatoes. For dessert it was a panna cotta with strawberries. All were quite good with the prime rib being somewhat tough, which was strange. Our seating location was spectacular and second to none-private and quaint. Our server was almost TOO quick and on top of it! Pre fixed menu was amazing I suggest the Asparagus with Proscuitto ANY time they offer it! LOVE LOVE The Cannery and Highly Recommend it for special occasions! Oh...one more thing! Requested patio seating a few weeks ahead of time, and were seated next to kitchen, so not close to patio, but it was cold so didn't complain. Food was good. Mahi was just okay (and I LOVE fish); the chicken was the best I've ever had and also the polenta. They brought out two bday desserts (bc we were celebrating 2 bdays) and I thought that was a nice touch. The desserts were delicious too. Overall, a great meal. I originally made my reservation for 5 for Sunday April 21, 2013. I had to go back and change it to 6, and I ONLY changed the number in the party, nothing else. Not niticing that it also changed the date to the next day. When I arrived at the resteurant, it was not pleasant. There is something wrong with you software if when all you change is the number in the party the date is inadvertantly changed too. Recently they’ve changed the entire menu and there is a new chef. Of the items we tried this time around, all seemed to have issues with the sauces. The salmon Carpaccio had way too much of the Peruvian yellow pepper vinaigrette, the John Dory sauce way too much lemon in the sauce and the Skuna Bay Salmon lobster emulsion was indiscernible. We will definitely give The Cannery a second chance, but hope that there will be some alternations to the sauces.
