My wife, 10 year old daughter and
I enjoyed the food. The only exception was the 'clam chowder' which was made with heavy cream and not very good. The waitress was understanding and removed the item from the check."

This is not your average hotel
restaurant. The ambience is cool, laid-back yet it is elegant and trendy at the same time. The low-level jazz playing in the background is not overpowering. The Saturday night we dined there a guitarist was softly playing wonderful old jazz and rock favorites in the corner and the music simply added to the experience. The food was a step below what I remember from our last visit. The chmowder was not as rich nor creamy as I would have liked and the scallops won't tender did not have the crust that I had expected and experienced from my last visit. In short this is a wonderful restaurant and they produce great food using regional product. However the production simply was a a tad off."

Great for breakfast, lunch, dinner
or a snack. Wonderful view of the bay. Superb food and a magnificent set of servers. Well worth the trip anytime."

We had the Calamari again and it
wasn't to the level I would expect for a $14 app. Chewy, under seasoned and greasy. They should take it off the menu if they can't do better. The calamari was chewy in the cioppino and the broth was bland. The cioppino came with one piece of garlic toast and we had to ask for more, I would think the chef would want you to have enough toast to sop up the broth. We like the place and the service but may not go back because of the food."

New Year's Eve Prix Fixe Dinner
was wonderful. Starting with Calamari Ceviche, yummmm. I loved the International Sparkling Wine flight. Fish was nice as well as the salads."
Dined on 12/31/2013
Don't confuse this place with a
fine dining restaurant. We chose it because, being part of an Intercontinental Hotel, it is a bit classier than some of the other seafood restaurants that line Cannery Row. And indeed, the ambience was the best part (no table clothes though). The service started very rocky - the appetizers were brought almost immediately after ordering (that is not a plus at a classy restaurant), and then my cocktail arrived 20 minutes later. Of the three appetizers we ordered, only one was acceptable - the calamari. The shrimp tasted like they had been frozen and thawed several times. The main courses were also without distinction. The "C" in this restaurant's name is apt!"

Took my 94 year old Father to
celebrate his B-day. Happened to mention it while we were being seated and the waiter picked up on that fact. After a great service the waiter and hostess surprised him with a wonderful ice cream dessert with a candle that couldn't be blown out. Made a great meal memorable. We will be back."
Dined on 11/16/2013
Small portions served. For the
price of dinner the dinners should be a little more plentiful. They serve 1/2 liters of wine right out the barrel...very fresh tasting wines."
Dined on 11/9/2013
The food was fabulous! Highly
recommend for breakfast, lunch or dinner!"
Dined on 10/23/2013
We had our bridal party dinner
there and it was delicious! Service was fine and everything was perfectly timed. Well go back for dinner but not breakfast. Over priced for average breakfast."
Dined on 10/5/2013
The wife and I dined here while on
the Peninsula for a week of R&R in September. I had been to the "C" a few months before with a winery business trip, really liked it and wanted to come back. The food is fresh as you'd expect being on the Monterey Bay and close to Salinas Valley. The culinary staff seems solid and adventurous, an unusual combination. The serving staff is professional and friendly at the same time. The seafood choices are quite good. Its on our "go back again" list."
Dined on 9/18/2013
Normally, I am not a fan of hotel
restaurants, but this one turned out to be quite nice. We chose it because it was just a block from the Monterey Bay Aquarium and it had an early seating so that we could finish dinner in time for a walk to Fisherman's Wharf. The seafood selection was very nice. I had the swordfish which was perfect size on a bed of cruncy string beans. Great view of the Monterey Bay and there was an acoustic guitar player which made the ambience very relaxing. Service was attentive and very courteous."
Dined on 9/22/2013
Last summer we lunched at C after
going to the Aquarium and loved it so this time it was fun to be able to have dinner. My bucatini with smoked sardines was really unusual and delicious. The menu is varied and unusual, we loved it."

bad wine list. unattractive décor
(looks like Midwest hotel). arrogant wine list."

Brought my girlfriend here for our
one year anniversary. From start to finish, top-notch experience. There are seats near the window but we sat at a booth away from it; doesn't matter because every seat has an ocean view. The food was rich in flavor and portions were just right. Ambiance was great: quiet, great view, comfortable decor, light fixtures look like jellyfish. Service was outstanding! Thank you Diane!"
Dined on 9/20/2013
Ocean view, romantic scene, live
spanish guitar, wonderful fish ... excellent pairing ... enough saying."
Dined on 9/13/2013
I would only ask for more
vegetarian options. We didn't know our friends had stopped eating meat and fish until we got there - oops - and there were only 2 salads we could order that did not contain any fish. Other than that, it's always wonderful when we go to the C!"
Dined on 8/31/2013
Went at C restaurant and overall,
the food was badly done, no seasoning, cheap quality steak and crab and the service was zero, ate bad food and paid max money, not fair for the customers and tourists.please hire a good chef and some cooks please, love the ambience, the restaurant was slow too, may be I know why?"
Dined on 8/13/2013
This is our favorite place to eat
in Monterey- great seafood- especially the scallops and salmon. Leave room for the gelato dessert!"
Dined on 8/24/2013
Great cocktails but mediocre
(hotel quality) food. Good service."
Dined on 8/16/2013
We loved the tranquil view and
live Spanish guitar music during dinner. The signature scallop dish was excellent as was the chocolate hazelnut dessert. We especially appreciated our server Salvador's assistance in making sure our daughter's allergies were accommodated. We look forward to returning!"
Dined on 8/12/2013
This is a simply beautiful
restaurant with a knockout view of Monterey Bay. The food was extraordinary with efficient and unobtrusive service. I'd go back in a minute."
Dined on 7/29/2013
We enjoyed our dinner at the
C-restaurant. Our waiter, Jose, was very nice and attentive. He made wonderful recommendations that were not based on raising our bill. The view is beautiful as you look out onto Monterey Bay. We had a wonderful time and the food was great!"
Dined on 7/25/2013
The disappointing thing was the
hostess was clueless that we had a reservation, so the restaurant was not prepared for our party. If it had been a bit busier we would have been in trouble. Therefore we only stayed for cocktails and appetizers."
Dined on 6/30/2013
We had friends in from out of town
and wanted to take them somewhere with a view that also had a touch of class - C Restaurant + Bar offer that and more. Loved the service - everyone from the hostess to the bus person to the servers was friendly and helpful. Loved the food and wine - and the view of Monterey Bay is hard to beat!"
Dined on 7/16/2013
I felt like I was on Top Chef as a
judge, tasting unusual and delicious combinations. Every morsel shined."
Dined on 7/13/2013
Bay Scallops and Cioppino are
house specialties and simply delicious. Portions are generous. Staff are friendly and well-informed."
Dined on 7/10/2013
I was visiting Monterey so I was
unfamiliar with the area. They offer free valet parking with restaurant validation which is helpful since the area is rather busy. The restaurant has a very nice view of the bay (we were able to see a group of dolphins hanging around just out the window). Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful with his suggestions. I had the sea bass which was great. My date had the Cioppino, which I would highly recommend."
Dined on 7/6/2013
We've tried a number of
restaurants on Cannery Row, and have found this chef to be one of the only (if not the only) true 4 star chef right on the water. This was our 3rd year back, each as good as the last. Great bar and bartenders as well--specialty cocktails with combinations of ingredients to match the expertise of the chef. Service has always been top flight, this time even better. Hard to find a 4-star restaurant that actually is one."
Dined on 6/29/2013
Really enjoyed the food and the
views. The wait staff was knowledgeable but not pushy. Will definitely recommend to other friends that will visit the area."
Dined on 6/28/2013
Our experience shocked us that
this restaurant is part of Intercontinental Hotel. Our server was rude and actually none of servers were friendly, worst then even any simple diners. They gave me my caeser salad, without asking if we want to share or should they bring the other salad we ordered, so my wife just used her bread plate. My caeser salad was only ok and my wife's crad salad was terrible but my wife lost her appetite already with how the wait staff treated us and other guests around us. My fish and chips was actually quite good. But overall, we keep on saying we were expecting much better food and services, and we definitely will not return, and our experience is not what an Intercontinental Hotel standard is."
Dined on 6/30/2013
Went for Thanksgiving dinner and
the meal was okay. Definitely not up to their normal standards but then again, it was not what they normally do. Not many restaurants can pull off a really exceptional holiday meal from our experience."
Dined on 11/23/2012
Great food and a beautiful view of
the Monterey Bay. Service was wonderful."
Dined on 5/17/2013
We took some out of town guests to
the restaurant and loved our food. The service especially from our waitress, Diane was excellent she is one of the best that we have ever seen. She is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful with a cheerful disposition. The bartender, Luis is also great to deal with and friendly. We only regret that they took out our favorite wine, Estancia."
Dined on 5/1/2013
I will start this off by saying
I'm very stingy with my 5 stars. Perfection is hard to achieve. That being said The C came close. Portioning was spot on. Left satisfied. I had the scallops. Absolutely marvelous. My wife had the sturgeon. Sturgeon on a menu is not common and my wife raved about it. On a bed of lentils. Reminded her of a risotto with more tooth. Service was remarkable. Pleasant, professional, unobtrusive. If Diane is working the night you go, ask for one of her tables. View of the bay is very appealing. Makes the restaraunt feel larger than it is. Sitting next to the window you don't notice other diners necessarily. Feels more intimate. Guitarist playing helped with the intimate atmosphere. Would definitely return."
Dined on 5/4/2013
We went to the C Restaurant to
celebrate my husband's birthday. The food was excellent. I am all about quality, not quantity. The presentation was pleasing and the ingredients were fresh with just enough spice. The waiter was a good sport and sang happy birthday to my husband when presenting our dessert. It was a lovely evening."
Dined on 4/30/2013
This place was great. The waiter
was friendly and knowledgeable, the hostess was friendly and accommodating and the view was spectacular. My husband and I went for our 10th anniversary and they made it special. I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area."
Dined on 4/23/2013
Calamari was the best I have ever
had. My compliments to the chef."
Dined on 4/21/2013
Prices a little high, but the food
was really good. If I lived in Monterey, I would go back once a week,"
Dined on 4/15/2013
This is a lovely spot for brunch,
with a view of the ocean. Menu for brunch was a mix of classic brunch dishes (we had the eggs benedict and lamb hash and each was perfectly prepared) and seafood oriented salads and other lunch dishes. There seemed to be only one waiter for the entire restaurant and a second waiter covering tables on the patio. We waited a long time for coffee and our check."
