A word from The Butcher Shop
A tribute to the old world European boucheries, The Butcher Shop is both a neighborhood wine bar and a full service butcher shop. Inspired by Chef Barbara Lynch’s travels throughout France and Italy, The Butcher Shop is the perfect place to have a glass of wine along with a small bite or linger over a meal. In the back, glass-front refrigerated cases are stocked with links of our very own sausages and hot dogs, jars of rich demi-glace, slabs of foie gras, and exquisitely marbled cuts of local beef, along with freshly prepared dishes from our kitchen.

Another great dinner at The Butcher Shop. Our meal was delicious! I started with a watermelon and feta salad and then had a mouthwatering steak. We were very happy with our service. So helpful to have a reservation because as it gets later in the night you can not make a reservation and will often have to wait 30-45 minutes.

My girlfriend and I went to the Butcher Shop to celebrate our anniversary and it most certainly did not disappoint. The burger and steak tartare were beyond words, flavorful and pleasing in every aspect. I hope to return as soon as possible.

Sixth visit to the Butcher Shop, this time for burgers and beer. Sat at the bar and had a very enjoyable dinner after a long day at work. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. The burgers were delicious and the beer recommendations went spot on. Love this little spot in the South End.

Fantastic if you like meat! Very homely atmosphere, supremely fresh cuts of meat and great wine. The service was personal but not intrusive. A great place to watch the world go by from a seat at the bar or in the window.

The menu is limited; meat predominates, but the meat is unexceptional, the preparations uninspired and prices high. The restaurant/bar is small and noisy when full and the seating somewhat uncomfortable.

There are many South End restaurants that have excellent food but none that I have been to with such a calm and quiet atmosphere. the ambiance is what made this restaurant different from the rest, and worth the price...IF you have a special occasion. I would keep it for a romantic moment and then dive in and enjoy. Although they do specialize in meats, they did offer a vegetarian option that was as delicious as everything else.
