Diner Reviews
  • "The burgers good and I liked that you could choose the type of beef you wanted. Great sharing apps. I had the posh burger (natural) and it was delicious. Others in my group found their burgers a bit dry. The duck poutine was fantastic. Service was okay but not terribly attentive although the food was quick to arrive. I'd definitely go back for more!"

  • "We enjoyed our night out for burgers! Definitely worth the splurge. We had a reservation and were seated promptly in a less busy spot in the restaurant. It was comfortable, very friendly and all the staff were very accommodating The burger was tasty as were the onion rings and creamy cole slaw. The sweet potato fries were good, but not hot enough. The final splurge, a sundae was perfect. We found it to be rather expensive for burgers We would go again to try other things on the menu!"

  • "Very busy restaurant but not very big. Servers only seemed to have a few tables in their section and service was very poor even with only having a few tables. Lots of children running around screaming. Not what I expected from the outside of this restaurant or location at all. The only good point was the supervisor noticed we had been waiting a very long time for our bill and deducted the apps."

  • "This was our first time and very surprised by the amount of kids and the noise level. I would only go again later in the evening when there is less chance of so many loud children."

  • "Great burgers and onion rings. Great service - nice for casual dining for all ages. This is the third time we have been and have never been disappointed"

  • "Best burgers in T.O. Come in or take out...this is a better option than all the other burger places..plus there's great beer and wine selection and Kawartha Dairy ice cream and milkshakes!"

  • "This is my 3rd visit to The Burger Cellar and I will continue to go back. There is a great selection of burger options and they are prepared so well; compliments to the chef. The ambiance is relaxing while also being lively (without feeling too busy). Price points are reasonable and the staff are fantastic from the hostess, bar staff, and servers. My compliments to everyone!"

  • "The burgers here are fantastic but the gluten free bun should be avoided. This was my second visit to The Burger Cellar and the first visit had been much better. I had made a reservation for 8 people and when we arrived they had not realized that there was a reservation for 8 on their list. They needed to set the tables so an extra 10 mins was spent standing around. Not normally a big deal but it was not busy so the oversight should not have happened. I recommend you call for large group reservations to make sure everything is good to go before arriving. I think the wait staff was new which probably contributed to the confusion."

  • "We had booked a table for 7:30 pm and were taken to our table at 8:00 pm. Yes, we waited for thirty minutes at the entrance, always hoping it was minutes away before our table would free up. We had a reservation. The reason why is still a bit of a mystery. Maybe it was guests that would not leave. Maybe it was an error with a bill. Or, maybe the staff poorly managed their tables. Either way, we lived a poor experience. On the flip side, the food & the table service were very good. They restaurant even reduced our bill. Yet, we still left disappointed."

  • "The food was good but service not great. Waited quite awhile after ordering a bottle of wine for it actually to arrive at the table. Then waited quite awhile for her to take our food order. When someone ordered a 2nd glass of red wine (different from bottle of white), it never arrived. Decent food but expect to wait and wait some more....."

  • "The Burgar Cellar is the perfect place to take your family without giving up on ambience and an adult menu. You can enjoy a nice glass of wine and a great meal, while the kids are happy with their burger and fries. The look of the restaurant is particularly cozy with dim lighting and wine bottles perched on back wall. We left our kids at home this time, but were not disturbed by the children around us. The owners have managed to keep both the adults and the kids happy.. great location and service as well. We will be back!"

  • "Everything was ok, but the only thing that i didn't like was the automatic charge for the tip for groups. If they believe in themselves, they should let people choose the amount of their tips."

  • "Burger cellar surpassed my expectations on my first visit. It was spacious and well laid out. The server, Jeff, was fantastic - he explained the menu to us and helped us choose our meals by suggesting the most popular choices. A highlight do me was the turkey burger, but everything was tasty & the wine list is on point. I will return to the burger cellar"

  • "We celebrated a family birthday and had wonderful service and magnificent burgers! The wine list is extensive and the prices are fair - nice presentation on the small birthday cake!"

  • "Best burgers in Toronto so far. Putine is also a killer!"

  • "My teenaged sons liked the large burgers and ordered extra sides. The mac and cheese was bland and the fries were really small and over crisp, but the burgers were good and the milkshakes are great! The service staff were extremely efficient and friendly too."

  • "We have been going to the Burger Cellar regularly since it opened. It rarely disappoints. The food is always great and the specials are always a great surprise. My wife and I both ordered the special pulled pork burger and it was really good."

  • "I went with two girlfriends for some food after work. It was fantastic. The food was much better than I expected and the service was INCREDIBLE. I've already made plans to go back."

  • "The service was very good, although it did take a bit longer than expected to get our meals. It's great to find a restaurant that serves 100% grass-fed beef burgers, and they were delicious. The duck poutine was fantastic too. The kids enjoyed their strawberry milkshake very much."

  • "The food was excellent, but the server should have advised us not to order the draught beer as they were having problems."

  • "I had dinner there with a friend and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We sat in a quiet nook in the back lounge which made it easy for us to talk. I had the "angry bison" which was flavourful and adventurous. It had house made peppercorn bacon, crispy fried jalapeños and jalapeños havarti on a lean bison patty. This is a definite must try for all."

  • "Web site misleading regarding ambiance, looks intimate & notes as "wine bar" but it's just another family burger joint. Great if you have kids & not so great if you were looking for a more "fine dining" environment as we were. Hostess had a great friendly welcoming attitude, our waiter was far less welcoming. He was not warm and frankly seemed more annoyed at my questions or request for help deciding. As a foodie, I felt I was not given the encouragement in selecting the best menu choice for my taste but to just "make up my mind" & hence did not enjoy my meal as much as I could have (and have at other burger joints). that being said, we just wolfed down our food & got out of there. Burger Priest far better & it doesn't even have seating."

  • "I ordered glenlivit which was not available, i was brought another scotch or perhaps whiskey which i didnt enjoy Anywhere near the amount i would of the glenlivit. The food came before my drink and was a small overpriced burger which i cant say was bad but i can say wasnt worth 16 dollars. The server was verycharming and respectful but never around. Not special, it was friday but they should be able to handle that rush"

  • "We went during the week so it wasnt as busy as it usually is, according to the server (Jeff, which was quite knowledgable about the food and a comedian lol) Still the ambience was perfect for a sit and chat session over a good glass of wine. The food is delicious, I was convinced by Jeff to try the cheeseburger soup... Superb!! And the burgers speak for themselves. I will definitely be coming back to try some more of their food, and letting my friends know its a must try."

  • "The duck poutine is great and the burgers are good too! Have been twice, once at night and once on a Saturday afternoon, everything was good both times, but the service was just a touch slow in the afternoon."

  • "From the outside, The Burger Cellar gives an image of a high-end burger joint for grown-ups...good burgers, good wine list. On the inside, the decor was nothing special and it was full of kids. Admittedly the burgers, fresh cut fries and onion rings were very good. Although they look like they are hand-battered, I couldn't help feeling that $5 for four onion rings was not good value. The wine list was just slighly above average compared to most pubs we go to. The food was very good. I loved that they had three choices of beef, one being free-range. The ambience was not what I was expecting. If you want family friendly, this is a good spot. If you want a quiet place for a date-night, look elsewhere."
