A word from The Bull Ring
Sine 1971;
The Bull Ring has been a part of Santa Fe’s Culinary landscape for so long it's hard to think of a time when it wasn't there. The world famous Bull Ring offers all the most popular cuts, ranging in size from the the 8-oz petite filet to an enormous 40-oz porterhouse for two. The Bull Ring prepares steaks in an 1,800 degree grill and serves them on a sizzling hot plate with melted butter. The Bull Ring is also known for their juicy lamb or pork chops, mouthwatering barbecue baby back pork ribs or fresh seafood.

If you are looking for a more casual experience, the lounge is a local favorite, where you can mingle with old friends or make new ones in a Cheers-like atmosphere. The bar serves exceptional pub fare, including the succulent Prime Burger.

Returning to Bull Ring while vacationing in Santa Fe never disappoints. The setting is intimate, and the steaks are some of the best around. The Coconut Shrimp appetizer with dipping sauce was large enough to have shared it easily. The petit filet came as ordered, the broiled tomatoes were perfect, with steamed broccoli as well that was just right. A special treat was our server, Christianne, who not only knows how to make a memorable meal even more special, but also has an exquisite voice, even when singing Happy Birthday at an adjoining table. Check her out at area venues.

Four of us had a memorable meal here. Classic steakhouse, everything a la carte, good food. Ladies could not get through their half rack of ribs, which were exceptional. The men had two steaks, all great. Jana was a great server, request for her. All desserts made in house and the very berry pie was a hit for the table.

One of the few fine restaurants open on Mondays near the Santa Fe plaza. Gabriella, our waitress was great. She always smiled and was very nice making menu suggestions to accommodate my food allergy. They have a decent wine list. The petite filet and lamb chops were cooked perfectly. The sides are served family style so we just ordered one. It was more than enough for two people. We would definitely eat here again.

We had a reservation for two on a Saturday evening. We were put in a room with a very large table set for about thirty people. I asked about the noise and was told that they would not be coming for 60 - 90 minutes so we agreed. They showed up about 15 minutes later with a cocktail hour type thing that was very loud and disruptive. We asked for the manager and inquired why we were lied to. She denied that they knew when they were arriving. Another lie. She was far less than concerned. It is a very expensive restaurant and they were more concerned about these convention attendees that come once a year than locals. A VERY dissappointing experience. We were offered a free cheese cake for our inconvenience. The issue was honesty!

Comfortable, soothing and fantastic prime rib. I also ordered the asparagus with Hollandaise which was perfectly cooked. The service was good but we ordered two bottles of wine, one of which was a white and the waiter filled our glasses and just left the bottle on the table. We had to ask another server (who was very friendly and efficient) to bring us something to keep the wine chilled, which he did immediately. Our original server didn't check in once the food arrived but did after we were already half way through the meals. Other than that we had a very nice experience and I would go there again. $$$

We have dined at the Bull Ring in the past and had a good experience. This time we were charged for the experience however it never materialized. We were seated at a table that was hardly big enough for one. Those waiting on us were good, they were just covered up. The food was ok and probably would have been better if the rest of the experience had been acceptable. I don't mind spending $250 for a good dining experience but it is nuts for this. Probably won't go back.

We dined as 2 families. Our friend was in search of a good steak but had never been to Bull Ring.We recommended it because we have been many times before and the steak is always amazing. However, the waitress seemed put off with us from the beginning. When we got our check, each family split it between cash and credit card. The waitress returned the credit card slip but did not bring $64 dollars in change. The check already had a nearly $50 tip because we had a party of more than 6. When confronted, she indicated she thought the $60 was her tip. We left with the impression that it was assumed we were just tourists who are unlikely to return and it was worth the try to get an extra $60 tip in hopes we wouldn't say anything. We are locals.

We love the Bull Ring and try to have a meal there every time we visit SF. The food is outstanding as is the service. I was a little disappointed with their Bourbon selections. They eliminated my favorite bourbon, Blanton's, from their menu. Other than that, it was an excellent dining experience.

Service was typical Santa Fe. By that I mean pretty poor. Steaks were mediocre. The bull ring is kind of an icon and we were looking forward to eating there but felt it was not worth the big price tag.

Hands down The Best dining experience we had in Santa Fe. We had three courses. From the initial greeting by the hostess, to the friendly, but not too...bus person, it was GREAT. But Christiane, our waitress was FANTASTIC. She made direct, friendly, welcoming eye contact, & excellent conversation without being too present at the table. This is a steak house. There's a special gift to cooking a steak. The chefs here are masterful. Our steak was flavored-filled & it cut like butter. After our meal, we were gifted a special treat. Christiane's a jazz singing pro from LA & she took us outside & gave us her acapella rendition of "Embraceable You"! What a voice & what a wonderful way to send PERFECTLY SATED carnivores on their way!

Had several vendors visit my office in Santa Fe and wanted to take them to a nice restaurant down town. We all enjoyed our dinner and time at the Bull Ring. The atmosphere was perfect and allowed for talking about work stuff and fun stuff. It's a block from the plaza so after we walked to the plaza for a while and listened to local bands playing nice music. My guests promised they'd be back with their spouses.

I had heard about the Bull Ring for a while and finally made it there for dinner my last time to Santa Fe. I was blown away with the quality of the steak. I had the bone- in filet. It was perfectly prepared (medium rare) and practically melted in my mouth. The flavor was outstanding. This was the best steak I've ever had. I expected great service in a place like this and I was not disappointed. The staff was very attentive without being intrusive. I will definitely come back.

Being a rancher I can saw the beef quality is excellent. Very tender beef cooked to perfection. The dining area was very quiet but lacked atmospher and decor for being in Santa Fe. Was disappointed with the escargot, tiny piece on top of a mushroom cap. I personally think the food is over priced even for Santa Fe. $40 dollars for a steak, $8.50 for a baked potatoe or fries, $9 for a vegtable, you've got yourself a $57.50 not including drinks. The bread pudding is not even close, two tiny slivers of pumkin bread with a creamy sauce

I was not impressed. Steaks are $40, but no better than something you could buy at a grocery store. The garlic mashed potatoes were mor like just lumpy instant potatoes. For the same price point, I would recommend Vernon's Hideaway in Los Ranchos instead. I will not be back to the Bull Ring.

For an expensive steak house you would expect that it would have a trained staff. For a Saturday night dinner (when the restaurant is only half full) the service was terrible. We waited for over 20 minutes to get the cocktails we ordered. After asking the bus girl about them she returned with the waitress who server the cocktails and without pause began to open the bottle of wine we ordered to go with dinner asking who was going to taste it seconds after our first sip of the cocktails. The service continued to go down from there. Very overpriced for below average fare.

I moved to New Mexico from Palm Beach Florida. I visit The Bull Ring every year and never miss having my Birthday dinner there. The Beef Tenderloin is fork tender. Best steaks this side of Chicago. The creamed spinach and shoestring potatoes are my favorite. All the side dishes are prepared perfectly and are generous proportions. The wine list is excellent. The service as well. I love the ambience of the Bull Ring. I always ask for a booth. The location is in walking distance of the square and many of the downtown hotels. It is away from the tourist haunts and off a quiet street. I highly recommend The Bull Ring. I can't wait to return.

We loved our meal here. Everything we ordered was perfect. My husband and I split a ribeye and it was served exactly how we ordered it and on a hot sizzling plate. My husband said the only better steak he has ever had was from The Palm. The only negative I would add is the bread basket is a little predictable - white baguette and my salad was a most likely from a prepared bag of lettuce. A little more care on the salad would be nice - more chef inspired. All else was fabulous. We will go again!

My wife and self have been eating at the Bull Ring for some 20 years now, with each visit to Santa Fe. Up until this last time, the way my daughter-in-law put it, when she first took her first bite of her steak the first time she gotten to visit the Bull Ring. And, I quote, "Oh, My God". With this in mind every time we eat there we have always thought about her quote. Well, if this visit would have been her first, she would have said, "this meat isn't any better than what we buy at the store". I know there is a beef shortage, and everyone one wants the best, but my meal wasn't worth the $200 it cost me. It will be a loooong time before we go back, if ever. It's time to find another steak house in Santa Fe.

I booked a reservation for this restaurant about a week in advance for my boyfriend and I. We discovered this place over a year ago and decided we wanted to go again. We showed up at 742, our reservation was at 745. There was no one at the front desk to help us. The waitresses saw us standing there and didn't say anything. We didn't get seated for another 20 mins. And it took our server another 10 mins to bring us water. Mind you, the place was not busy. The food was really good, but the people working there should care about their guests more.

I've been to a lot of great NY steakhouses, from Sparks to Peter Luger and the Bull Ring was just as good. Perhaps the best NY Strip I've ever eaten, cooked exactly as I wanted it and served on a sizzling plate. Huge, tasty wedge and perfectly prepared sides made the meal complete. My wife had an equally tasty petit filet. Everything from the very welcoming hostess to the server team was great. Definitely worth a visit.

After all these years, I haven't missed anything not going to the locally famous Bull Ring - what a disappointment. Other than the decor, this place is mediocre. Standard steakhouse menu, but like so many others, they are in name and menu only; it is a pet peeve of mine. I don't mind paying $40-50 for a great steak and my sides separately if it is great food, but so many pretend to be then fall short in food quality. The Bull Ring falls into this category. Unfortunately, my quest for a REAL, quality steakhouse in Santa Fe continues. The sides (I had mashed potatoes and creamed spinach) were the most bland dishes I have been served in years - worse than in an old style TV dinner (not exaggerating). The bar looked like a hot spot.

My wife and I lived in Santa Fe more than 30 years ago and at that time the Bull Ring was a very nice place to go. The prices were a little high but the quality of the food and the ambience warranted them. Now, the prices do not reflect price-to-market realities, even here in Santa Fe. It was crowded and our server got the drink order and the sides order wrong. To use restaurant parlance, they were 'slammed' and I cut them a little slack. But the pricing strategy I have to wonder about. If their intent is to keep the riff-raff out by overpricing the steaks, it's working. Unless it's on someone else's nickel, I probably won't go back.
