A word from The Bull Ring
Sine 1971;
The Bull Ring has been a part of Santa Fe’s Culinary landscape for so long it's hard to think of a time when it wasn't there. The world famous Bull Ring offers all the most popular cuts, ranging in size from the the 8-oz petite filet to an enormous 40-oz porterhouse for two. The Bull Ring prepares steaks in an 1,800 degree grill and serves them on a sizzling hot plate with melted butter. The Bull Ring is also known for their juicy lamb or pork chops, mouthwatering barbecue baby back pork ribs or fresh seafood.

If you are looking for a more casual experience, the lounge is a local favorite, where you can mingle with old friends or make new ones in a Cheers-like atmosphere. The bar serves exceptional pub fare, including the succulent Prime Burger.

  • "I've been to the Bullring on several occasions and it never fails to impress."

  • "Had several vendors visit my office in Santa Fe and wanted to take them to a nice restaurant down town. We all enjoyed our dinner and time at the Bull Ring. The atmosphere was perfect and allowed for talking about work stuff and fun stuff. It's a block from the plaza so after we walked to the plaza for a while and listened to local bands playing nice music. My guests promised they'd be back with their spouses."

  • "Had the opportunity to take several customers for dinner, we enjoyed a private space, good service and great food. The steaks were great! The halibut was great! All around, the Bull Ring enabled a nice customer event and I was pleased"

  • "I had heard about the Bull Ring for a while and finally made it there for dinner my last time to Santa Fe. I was blown away with the quality of the steak. I had the bone- in filet. It was perfectly prepared (medium rare) and practically melted in my mouth. The flavor was outstanding. This was the best steak I've ever had. I expected great service in a place like this and I was not disappointed. The staff was very attentive without being intrusive. I will definitely come back."

  • "A really great steak, wonderful service. The absolute all time best birthday jazz singer. Expensive for me, so just for special occasions. My only recommendation is change the coffee to Sumatra."

  • "Being a rancher I can saw the beef quality is excellent. Very tender beef cooked to perfection. The dining area was very quiet but lacked atmospher and decor for being in Santa Fe. Was disappointed with the escargot, tiny piece on top of a mushroom cap. I personally think the food is over priced even for Santa Fe. $40 dollars for a steak, $8.50 for a baked potatoe or fries, $9 for a vegtable, you've got yourself a $57.50 not including drinks. The bread pudding is not even close, two tiny slivers of pumkin bread with a creamy sauce"

  • "Lived up to its high rating. Perfectly done steaks . Great sides and wines."

  • "I was not impressed. Steaks are $40, but no better than something you could buy at a grocery store. The garlic mashed potatoes were mor like just lumpy instant potatoes. For the same price point, I would recommend Vernon's Hideaway in Los Ranchos instead. I will not be back to the Bull Ring."

  • "My wife and recently dined here for our 15th wedding anniversary while on vacation in Santa Fe. This restaurant came highly recommended by the locals and it did not disappoint. From the minute we arrived and were greeted by the hostess, we felt extremely welcome and appreciated. This was unique. Our service was great and the food was magnificent."

  • "The Bull Ring remains a local institution with traditional decor and typical Santa Fe service. Good steaks and all a la care menu lets one pick and choose exactly what they want on their plate. Lovely patio space in summer."

  • "I have been many times and the quality of food and service are consistently excellent."

  • "Nice place for a special dinner and staff was very considerate. Food was very good and although a bit pricy, we had an enjoyable evening without being bothered by waitstaff. "

  • "For an expensive steak house you would expect that it would have a trained staff. For a Saturday night dinner (when the restaurant is only half full) the service was terrible. We waited for over 20 minutes to get the cocktails we ordered. After asking the bus girl about them she returned with the waitress who server the cocktails and without pause began to open the bottle of wine we ordered to go with dinner asking who was going to taste it seconds after our first sip of the cocktails. The service continued to go down from there. Very overpriced for below average fare."

  • "Our favorite restaurant in Santa Fe by far. Great experience. We have been visiting the Bull Ring since the 1980's at both the new and old locations. Wouldn't be a trip to New Mexico without eating there at least once each time we're there."

  • "I moved to New Mexico from Palm Beach Florida. I visit The Bull Ring every year and never miss having my Birthday dinner there. The Beef Tenderloin is fork tender. Best steaks this side of Chicago. The creamed spinach and shoestring potatoes are my favorite. All the side dishes are prepared perfectly and are generous proportions. The wine list is excellent. The service as well. I love the ambience of the Bull Ring. I always ask for a booth. The location is in walking distance of the square and many of the downtown hotels. It is away from the tourist haunts and off a quiet street. I highly recommend The Bull Ring. I can't wait to return. "

  • "I was pleasantly surprised with The Bull Ring. The ample portions of food served at The Bull Ring are worth the price and the staff are just #friendly and are on top of things. The baby back pork ribs I ordered were cooked and seasoned to perfection...they also have tater tots!!!!! I will make the The Bull Ring a must stop during my future Santa Fe visits!"

  • "Another enjoyable meal at The Bull Ring. Great bar service, prior to being seated in the dining room. Food prepared to everyone's liking and excellent, unobtrusive service. Can't wait to have a meal on the patio."

  • "Took a friend The Bull Ring who had moved to town that very day. Great drinks in the bar, wonderful food in the restaurant. Our server was, again, outstanding. Truly enjoy the guitar player. He makes the mood that much more wonderful."

  • "My husband's absolute favorite! Prime rib and New York steaks...can't be beat. And I like the lighter options - the salmon salad is a real winner. Just about the only real fine dining restaurant in Santa Fe...in the classic mode."
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "We loved our meal here. Everything we ordered was perfect. My husband and I split a ribeye and it was served exactly how we ordered it and on a hot sizzling plate. My husband said the only better steak he has ever had was from The Palm. The only negative I would add is the bread basket is a little predictable - white baguette and my salad was a most likely from a prepared bag of lettuce. A little more care on the salad would be nice - more chef inspired. All else was fabulous. We will go again!"

  • "My wife and self have been eating at the Bull Ring for some 20 years now, with each visit to Santa Fe. Up until this last time, the way my daughter-in-law put it, when she first took her first bite of her steak the first time she gotten to visit the Bull Ring. And, I quote, "Oh, My God". With this in mind every time we eat there we have always thought about her quote. Well, if this visit would have been her first, she would have said, "this meat isn't any better than what we buy at the store". I know there is a beef shortage, and everyone one wants the best, but my meal wasn't worth the $200 it cost me. It will be a loooong time before we go back, if ever. It's time to find another steak house in Santa Fe."

  • "It's been a couple months since we were there, but everything we had was very good. It's a BULL ring, after all, so we stuck with the meats and were not disappointed. "

  • "I booked a reservation for this restaurant about a week in advance for my boyfriend and I. We discovered this place over a year ago and decided we wanted to go again. We showed up at 742, our reservation was at 745. There was no one at the front desk to help us. The waitresses saw us standing there and didn't say anything. We didn't get seated for another 20 mins. And it took our server another 10 mins to bring us water. Mind you, the place was not busy. The food was really good, but the people working there should care about their guests more."

  • "MY husband and I were visiting Santa Fe and a local had recommended The Bull Ring. We went on our last night there and everyhing was fantastic. The staff, from the hostess to our server, were all so friendly and attentive. We would definitely recommend the Bull Ring in the future. Thank you for such a great dining experience!"

  • "I've been to a lot of great NY steakhouses, from Sparks to Peter Luger and the Bull Ring was just as good. Perhaps the best NY Strip I've ever eaten, cooked exactly as I wanted it and served on a sizzling plate. Huge, tasty wedge and perfectly prepared sides made the meal complete. My wife had an equally tasty petit filet. Everything from the very welcoming hostess to the server team was great. Definitely worth a visit."

  • "Excellent food and presentation. Fine dining so expect the prices. Not very private but worth going."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "After all these years, I haven't missed anything not going to the locally famous Bull Ring - what a disappointment. Other than the decor, this place is mediocre. Standard steakhouse menu, but like so many others, they are in name and menu only; it is a pet peeve of mine. I don't mind paying $40-50 for a great steak and my sides separately if it is great food, but so many pretend to be then fall short in food quality. The Bull Ring falls into this category. Unfortunately, my quest for a REAL, quality steakhouse in Santa Fe continues. The sides (I had mashed potatoes and creamed spinach) were the most bland dishes I have been served in years - worse than in an old style TV dinner (not exaggerating). The bar looked like a hot spot."

  • "My wife and I lived in Santa Fe more than 30 years ago and at that time the Bull Ring was a very nice place to go. The prices were a little high but the quality of the food and the ambience warranted them. Now, the prices do not reflect price-to-market realities, even here in Santa Fe. It was crowded and our server got the drink order and the sides order wrong. To use restaurant parlance, they were 'slammed' and I cut them a little slack. But the pricing strategy I have to wonder about. If their intent is to keep the riff-raff out by overpricing the steaks, it's working. Unless it's on someone else's nickel, I probably won't go back."

  • "I was thrilled when I saw the Bull Ring as a participant in Santa Fe's Restaurant Week. I didn't need to think twice about where I wanted to take my family."
    Dined on 3/1/2014
  • "We had a great experience at The Bull Ring for Restaurant Week. They had one of our favorite menu items on the $30/person menu, so it was a must to go to the Bull Ring. Their beef is fabulous. Thank you."

  • "We had the prime rib dinner and it was delicious and the portion sizes were perfect."
    Dined on 2/27/2014
  • "Although we've been here once before, we went for NMRW specifically for the Prime Rib. EXCELLENT! Cooked as ordered, served with horseradish as requested and au just. Just delicious. We were lucky though, as we ate we heard a few other tables order the Prime Rib and they were out. This seems like a major flaw by whomever was ordering for the restaurant."

  • "Atmosphere was romantic. The staff was very professional and service was timely and not interruptive. The food was delicious and prepared according to specifications given. An elegant dining experience."

  • "Just great steak! The prime rib was phenomenal! super juicy, tender, and just plain delicious! The Caesar salad and other sides were also fresh and flavorful. I would highly recommend this place for a special occasion,"

  • "We should have left. They did not have thee the menu advertised for Restaurant Week and did not offer substitutes for the items inexplicably missing from the advertised menu. What a disappointment -- and fraudulent. As I said, we should have left."
    Dined on 2/23/2014
  • "We have eaten at The Bull Ring numerous times- the food is always consistently excellent, served warm and prepared well. I would recommend this restaurant as a top Prime Rib and Steak restaurant in Santa Fe New Mexico."

  • "We have dined at this restaurant several times to raving reviews but Not this time. Just this once, the chef was really amiss. Service was very good and the Manager did refund our lunch, plus, we have had great meals here in the past. Therefore, I feel it is unfair to say anything unfavorable based on two poorly prepared salads. We are going to return and give it another try."

  • "This was my first time at the Bull Ring and it was AMAZING!!! The prime rib was soooo good but next time I would get extra butter for it. The garlic mashed potatoes were smooth, and melt in your mouth delicious! The pecan pie was also very wonderful! I would go there again!"

  • "Food was good - service hit and miss. They need a person to stay at the front desk to seat people. The hostess was busing tables..."
