Our meal was wonderful! EverythingOur meal was wonderful! Everything was delicious. We went on a Saturday night, so the place felt a bit packed and the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. The service was still terrific and the food was flavorful, creative, fresh, and satisfying.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat night! We were in Chicago for a quick couples weekend and found The Bristol on Food and Wine's website. It did not disappoint. From the delicious cocktails to the yummy homemade nutter butters, the meal was amazing and we all left stuffed and thrilled with the choice.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting menu and greatInteresting menu and great food; Cabernet Franc was very good5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousFor starters, we ordered the fresh apple salad, which was delicious and very well balanced. I never would have thought of putting green apple and hazelnuts together, but it was perfect. We also got the port loin and while the meat was tasty, I would have liked there to be more of it and less of the bitter frisee salad that comes on top of it. For entrees, my boyfriend got the hanger steak which was super juicy. I got the half chicken, which was served without the bones, and skin on. It was to die for! The spaetzle was excellent as well. My only criticsm would be that our entrees took a pretty long time to come out, but we were happy to enjoy the very nice Bordeaux that the sommelier recommended while we waited.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and serviceMy family and I had a wonderful dinner at the Bristol. We were a party of five including a four year old and they were so pleasant and accommodating. We sat in their new upstairs area which was quieter but still lively. The menu was small but everything we had was excellent. Our waiter Elliot made great recommendations including the pork salad, roasted chicken, and the amazing basque cake with apple confit.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome! This place was great from start to finish... Staff was all so friendly. We loved the music in the background. The place was hip and yet had a rustic feel with he decor.
The food...wow! Awesome, recommend the beef heart tartare and the 1lb pork porterhouse.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMfood was hit and misslet's start with the good:
appetizers: great (duck fat fries and apple hazelnut salad with manchego cheese--both super delicious, the salad was refreshing and filling)
entrees: my partner got one of the pastas (a smaller dish), which i thought was delicious though a bit too vinegary. i got the chicken with spaetzle, and that was a big disappointment. the chicken itself was just OK, the skin was nice and crispy, the meat was moist, but it lacked flavor. the spaetzle was very salty, and cooked in chicken fat, which was simply too much. too much fat and too much salt. there was a small celery and apple salad on top, but that too was a miss for me.
i will return for drinks and appetizers.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food...fantasticFantastic food...fantastic service. The server was clear that some I the plates were smaller portions...which was very appreciated. Overall...we loved the experience!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting menu with locallyInteresting menu with locally sourced meats and seasonal vegetables. Attentive staff with good cocktail and wine options. Great place for dinner with friends/family as well as for a date spot.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat evening outDelicious food and generous portions. Amazingly attentive staff.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA group of four went to theA group of four went to the Bristol to celebrate a friend's birthday. The service was prompt, attentive, and informative. One person in our party has certain dietary restrictions due to food allergies. Our server took a menu away and returned with a marked up menu illustrating what our friend was able to eat. The food was absolutely delicious! The only drawback is the amount of tables on the floor plan. The tables were too close together creating awkward seating moments. Too many near misses with other patrons and wait staff knocking over our drinks and silverware made for some uncomfortable moments. But all in all, a delicious treat!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMJust go! AMAZING...have neverJust go! AMAZING...have never had anything that wasn't delicious!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved everything about it.Loved everything about it. Can't believe it was my first time. Certainly won't be my last!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBetween the hand-crafted cocktailsBetween the hand-crafted cocktails and the fresh ingrediants of the food that was both carefully and artfully prepared, The Bristol hits all the right notes. Each bite of every course was delicious, and when we couldn't decide between two, we ended up with both dishes. The service was terrific, and the close proximity to other diners encouranged conversation and questions like, "what was that you just ordered?" The only negative is that there is so little room at the bar, that when our table wasn't ready, we were forced to stand in a tiny entry way rather than stand at the bar. The host was happy to take a drink order, which was delivered to our table immediately when the table was ready.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe don't eat pork, so ourWe don't eat pork, so our dining options were a bit limited, but what we did have was great!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI really love this place forI really love this place for dinner and cocktails. Brunch is pretty solid too.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMNice vibe with excellentNice vibe with excellent food, drinks and superior service! A good wine list and some very interesting European choices. The dinner Menu was very well prepared and the food had an European style not found in many places in USA. We even asked the manager if the owner was from Europe (Spain) - where we lived for 6 years - such the influence and ambience of the place. A very good experience that we want to repeat.1/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
