Diner Reviews
  • "We ate late. The waiter was friendly and super helpful with information and suggestions. We loved the crudites, duck fat fries, monkey bread and the 2 pasta dishes we got. So friggin good."

  • "Nicholas helped guide us through our dining experience. It was our first, but definitely not out last time a The Bristol. We had a wonderful experience and can't wait to return on our next visit to Chicago"

  • "Very good food and very fun atmosphere; Would definitely head back. Check menu first, meals change often. Not traditional."

  • "Monkey Bread, Halibut Collar, meat sauce pasta, and chicken were the highlights."

  • "Hadn't been here for brunch yet but was excited to try it based on the delicious dinner I'd had. Ordered the ham benedict but the ham was gray... I felt nauseated after leaving."

  • "The food was great, in particular, the chilaquiles were delicious. I would, however, appreciate more veggies and healthy options on the menu, even if it is just a few more options."

  • "I was shockingly underwhelmed by The Bristol. After reading rave reviews about the restaurant, I was excited to go and was expecting excellent food and service. However, the service was sub par (waitress took so long to get our dessert order that I just decided to forego the course) and no dish that we ate was that spectacular. They were all just ok-- chorizo dish was odd, duck fat fries were over cooked, and halibut croquettes were very one note. Was very disappointed with my experience."

  • "The beautifully described and tastefully presented food ought to have tasted better. A certain blandness and lack of spice pervaded almost all the dishes, save the duck fat fries."

  • "I've been to the Bristol before and had a good experience. This time I was very disappointed. It was hot in the restaurant, the food was just so so and our waitress was very ditzy. I wouldn't not go there for brunch again."

  • "I would rate lower, but do not want to offend the chef, or the guy who replenished our water every 2 minutes."

  • "Outstanding service and delectable food! We cannot wait to return. Jolene, our server recommended a few dishes and the dessert, all of which were simply brilliant! Bravo Bristol for getting it all so right!"

  • "We went for a work dinner and had an amazing time. The service was spot on and our waiter was very pleasant. The food was so good, I could not get enough of the Steak Tartare and the Fennel Chitarra pasta. The whole table enjoyed the Poire and Elderflower cocktail, we are still talking about it a week later. Overall one of the best meals I have had. I highly recommend this resturant, you wont be dissapointed!"

  • "Honestly - this place is overly expensive. The service is pretty outstanding and the food is pretty good - but certainly not worth the cost."

  • "Food was great with service to match. Our server, Thomas, was able to answer every question, and was available but not overbearing."

  • "We made specific reservations to come in for the Basque Cake for our dessert. Don't get me wrong - dinner at The Bristol is also fantastic. It's just that for our recent visit we went in only for this AMAZING dessert. If you haven't had it -- you need to. They had a lovely Tokaji to go along with it which was great. We're moving out of the city and selected The Bristol as our last stop on our farewell dining tour - well worth it."

  • "Originally, my friend who was hosting me in Chicago for the weekend wanted reservations at Girl and a Goat, but the wait list was ridiculous, so I did some research and chose the bristol. We were not disappointed! I got the hangover breakfast and it was DELICIOUS! One friend got the ham Benedict and it was superb, and my other friend ordered the quiche which was amazing as well. The little pots of tea are wel worth the $4, and overall the prices for the brunch menu were extremely reasonable. Would I return? ABSOLUTELY."

  • "A much anticipated visit to the Bristol paid of with an explosion on the palate through the carnivorously appetizing smoked Gouda burger and a special order of an egg white omelet with lightly dressed arugula salad. The service was personal and paid close attention to details while the room was tight and we felt we sat at the same table as our neighbors. It would be great if it had long tables, which allows for discussion to flow over to strangers. I will visit again, soon!"

  • "We followed the waitress's recommendation to have 3 starters, a pasta and an entree between the two of us. Each dish really did blow our minds. The beef tartar was outstanding and the prawns, while super-rich, were amazing!"

  • "Great neighborhood place, with really good food & great service. Can't wait to go back for more warm Monkey bread & to try some Seafood options. "

  • "We had brunch at the Bristol on a Saturday. The food choices were great. Everything was more interesting than your usual brunch options. We had the benedict, biscuit and chilaquiles as well as a cinnamon roll to share. Also there was a nice choice of cocktails."

  • "The food and drinks at the Bristol were outstanding, but the service was lacking. From the time we arrived it took an inordinately long time for food and cocktails to be delivered (sometime because they would go to the wrong table), and the pacing of the meal was off for most of the evening. I don't know if it was because they didn't have an adequate number of servers on hand or if it was just a bad night."

  • "Brunch at The Bristol is a must. Whilst you will see the usual brunch suspects on the menu, all have an ingredient or flair that makes each dish quite unexpected and unique. Of a group of 5, every single person at the table oood and aaad as we enjoyed each mouthful. We were treated to a platter of pastries on the house, due to a 40 minute wait for our table. The previous party were lingering, but the manager and host handled the situation very gracefully. They explained the issue and had a pastry platter sent out to us as we were seated. A nice touch for an awkward situation. I could have eaten the pastries alone, they were that good. Head to The Bristol, you won't be disappointed."

  • "I took two of my students here after they just received their PhDs. When they called to ask about food restrictions (one student was vegetarian) and special events - I told them what we were celebrating. When I arrive, the place is packed (it is a Saturday night) and crazy. Nonetheless, when I asked at the last second to get champagne on the table before my guests arrived, the host and servers somehow magically made it happen. Also - there were congratulations cards for the celebration signed by the chefs and servers for each of the graduates! And special printed menus for them! The food was SPECTACULAR (smoked carrot salad, omg, yum), the service even better. **Thank you** for helping create such a special celebration."

  • "Great menu--make sure you share everything with each other. Every single thing we ordered was amazing. Wait staff gave "spot on" descriptions of the menu and food was made with a lot of love--you could taste it!"

  • "We were here on a Friday evening. At firat I was not happy when they asked for my credit card to set the reservation, but I understood why. This place really plan to have the best service. As an upcoming neighborhood jewel they have everything in place, from the hostess to the bus boy. The ambiance was very relax. Our reservation was at 6:00pm, so that gave us the opportunity to appreciate the place as it filled up. What made the food so good was the creativity on the use of fresh ingredients. The portions were ideal to try different dishes and still have room for dessert. We found this as a Fodor's choice restaurant and, once again, it was a great choice. Only can compare it to Sin Sentis in Barcelona."

  • "The farm to table menu is always changing based on what is in season. The staff always gives great recommendations and provides excellent service. Great for brunch or dinner! If it is your first time dining there, get the chicken and any of the homemade pastas!"

  • "Great find in the Bucktown area of Chicago. I was in town for business and didn't want the usual touristy Rush and State St. fair. This was a unique restaurant and a great menu and friendly service."

  • "Food was amazing. We ordered way too much food, but couldn't decide because everything sounded so good and it did not disappoint. "

  • "My sisters and I were very excited to take our my mom here for Mother's Day this past Sunday. When we booked our reservation there was no indication that the Bristol was not only providing a "Mother's Day brunch special" for a pricey $39/person but also that is was NOT optional. It was a very limited menu and my pregnant sister had certain dietary restrictions with her pregnancy so she was unable to enjoy any of the selected brunch items. All the food came out at different times, my mom's quiche came out cold and she had to send it back to be warmed up. My other sister's entrée was 3 measly potatoes. We paid $39 each for that?? We were all very disappointed in the Bristol. I would never recommend this place to anyone. "
