The "brix" (the menu items) were generally well received by our group. The Lamb Shank was OUTSTANDING. However, most of the other items we had, while visually appealing, lacked flavor. A heavier hand in seasoning was/is needed to increase the enjoyment of the dishes.Special Features:

He basically told us we didn't order enough food and proceeded to tell us at least four times that he tried everything on the menu and would help us. Okay, dude, I heard you the first three times you said it. Then he just kind of stood there, just weird. The ambience is very "sports bar-like". Not worth the money or your time.Special Features:

We dined outside, and in the space of an hour got to see 1 car accident, 3 cops pulling people over, and an intriguing mix of denizens. Food....nice concept, but not quite. The 'brik' is an appetizer that's basically a flaky pastry with a variety of fillings, sauce and seasonings. Some are executed better than others. The Cholo was good; the Sinatra, not so much. The entrees scored a solid meh. My friend had lamb shank and wasn't knocked out. It looked a bit dry. I ordered steak and potatoes. The steak was fatty and covered with black pepper and near-flavorless capers. The potato cake was equally void of flavor. And the entire thing was covered in grease. Meh.Special Features:
- Briks is the BombweissiniDined on 10/8/2014What a unique gem by a native Angeleno. The Briks is not only the name of the restaurant, but of its signature dish. The Brik is a phyllo pastry filled with things such as lamb shwarma, or shrimp scampi along with great names like the Sinatra, the Guru or the Dictator. When you cut into the Brik, the yolk is broken on the egg that is inside this fried package of goodness, which covers the interior contents and also the doughy pastry. In addition we ordered the braised lamb shank and some spicy tots. Lamb is a must. I thank chef Mario and his crew from La Puente and our server Josh for an outstanding evening. Wonderful diverse menu and the service and food was spot on. Appetizers are varied and very tasty. The coffee , pepper encrusted steak was flavorful. The real star was the lamb shank. The meat was 'fall off the bone' tender, and the stew that it came in was wonderfully aromatic and rich. Briks is on our list of go-to places next time we need to be at the Staples or LA Live.Special Features:

After a call to let them know of the delay, was 10 minutes late. Was seated, served our water and appetizers within reasonable amount of time. Restaurant was not full then. The entrees were not served until 55 minutes later at 7:25, when we could have had a leisurely dinner. Had to rush as attending the 8 pm concert at Staples. The couple who sat next to us, came in much later, probably around 7:10. had their appetizers, then their entrees just when we were leaving. This time the kitchen failed miserably, as the server kept returning to tell us in a few more minutes. No time for dessert.Special Features:

I don't know what the point of using Open Table is if restaurants aren't going to manage their connection to it properly. Two in our party drove 60 minutes to meet us there. My phone call went un responded to. Bad form Briks.

Got there early only 6 tables in the place were occupied still took forever for drinks to come - the food came and was good to very good. However the food would have been better if we had wine & water with it. We ran out of water several times and had to ask for more from a few people several times. That took 30 minutes to come after asking 3 times. The lamb was amazing the halibut was just ok. We didn't dare order desert for fear we would wait another 30 minutes. We sat on the patio be warned the flies are horrible we had 10 of them all over us and the food - they must live in the planters right there next to the table. Eat inside if you don't want to swat your entire meal.

The food is fantastic, every dish was a winner, each with it's own combination of intricate flavors. We started off with the Caesar Chavez, the Guru and Bougie Briks, and the Seafood Coca. All absolutely delicious! We shared the Shank as an entrée and it was truly amazing. Finished off with Norma's Bread Pudding. The drinks were also very creative. Daryl, our server was very attentive and all at the restaurant made you feel very welcome. Owner/Chef Mario made it a point to visit every table and talk with the patrons and you could feel the passion he has for his work. I can't say enough about this restaurant - I hope they are around for a long time.Special Features:I would recommend this to a friend.

The food was phenomenal (try any of the briks), our waiter was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Our entrees were delicious as well. The chicken was the juiciest I've ever had. Our reservation was at 7. It was quiet and not a lot of people were there when we arrived. As it got later and more people showed up and it became louder. It was hard for me and my wife to carry a conversation. Maybe we'll sit outside next time we come for dinner.Special Features:

The menu is quite unusual, built around the filled and fried packets of delicious ingredients that give the restaurant its name, although there are lots of other choices as well. The food was very good, with the lunch menu boasting an interesting array of international foods. At the end of our meal, Chef Marco, who wanted to give us a taste of the dinner menu, sent us a sampler that included the moistest, tastiest chicken I've had in ages. I really look forward to returning for dinner and picking from a menu that it appears is even more eclectic than the lunch menu. Chef Marco even designed the very cool graphic tabletops. We did not particularly love the ambience - too much techno music - would've loved to have heard some jazz or even reggae. ALL in all the food is incredible and the owner could not be more gracious.
