Diner Reviews
  • "We have looked forward to going to the Brickhouse for some time. We had a very pleasant and enjoyable evening out. We both decided on a steak dinner. The steak was very tender and you could cut it with a fork. We will return to try another dinner dish. We would recommend this restaurant to others."

  • "We had a table and 5 and service was impeccable. The wine list is extensive and our server poured the wine expertly...not over the top and filled to the brim. We were able to enjoy our conversation with minimum notice of the wine glass being refilled while at the same time our every request was efficiently handled. The food was amazing from a foodie perspective. Our meals were completely balanced and innovatively put together. Not to leave out their side dishes...the creamed spinach is light and delicious. If you make it to dessert, the chocolate soufflé is incredible and the best I've ever had."

  • "my husband and I went here for a special occasion. Our server was excellent and made the night very nice. My med rare steak came out rare, no problem, but when I had it cooked a bit more it was tough-maybe this was a result of cooling and reheating enough to cook it a bit more…., so I must take this into consideration. My husbands fish was excellent, and they did make an effort to make the meal nice by giving a fresh plate-new sides. Very nice touch."

  • "Good dinners and a nice Happy Hour menu. Wine is expensive and $18 for corkage a little high which makes the Happy Hour wine prices attractive. Steaks were very good."

  • "Good overall experience. The food was not as notable as it has been in the past, and seemed a little hurried and rushed together. One of our meals was excellent, the other very bland. We will give it another try in a few months."

  • "From start to finish, one of the greatest meals we've ever had here locally. The service was spectacular, not too snooty, just great attitudes, timely service and very knowledgeable staff. The carpaccio was some of the best I personally have eaten, the crab cakes were divine and we savored every bite. The lighting was perfect, not too dark not too bright. Love that the seating isn't squished together either, we felt like we had the place to ourselves even though it was a busy Saturday night. We splurge on a big fancy meal about once a year and I think Brickhouse has secured that from us. They are obviously meat experts as the Lamb Shanks and Filet Mignon were the finest we've had the pleasure of devouring. 6 star experience!!"

  • "WE LOVE THIS PLACE.....LOVE THE NEW LOCATION. WE WANTED A STEAK DINNER AND NEW THIS WAS THE ONLY PLACE TO GO. EVERYTHING WAS COOKED TO PERFECTION."

  • "The food and service was very good. The noise level was very high. The restaurant was very busy for a Wednesday night. We felt the food was a bit pricey. There was seven of us so they added 18% gratuity to that and ask for MORE. I do not feel that is good for business. When a restaurant automatically puts the gratuity on the bill I will not add more!"

  • "The cocktails and service were great! The huckleberry lemon drop, is perfectly balanced sweet and tart. Scallop appetizer was cooked perfectly, and the carpaccio was good, but required some additional seasoning. We ordered a ribeye and filet, both perfect medium rare. I added Demi glacé to my filet, which I wish I had forgone. Not a traditional Demi, more of a brown sauce. Overall I would visit again."

  • "The food here is to die for. I've been dining at The Brickhouse since they originally opened at their old location. By far, it's a gem of a dining experience. Great food, perfect drinks, outstanding service and super friendly. Is way above the rest."

  • "The Brickhouse in down town Bend is an excellent restaurant in a good location. The food is always good and the portions are appropriate. The wine pour is a bit on the skimpy side. The prices are too expensive for frequent dining; however, a nice place for special occasions."

  • "While the service was very good, and the ambiance lovely, our filets were tasteless- either overlooked or undercooked and poorly presented. They advertise their meat as "aged" but I highly doubt this is true. I question the grade as well. I was also surprised by the bacon wrapped treatment, so 1980; at least it added a little flavor. We did not complain to our server as we where out with friends and I find the whole complaining to the staff a total mood killer. We quietly ate our steaks and undercooked veggies swearing never to return. When you pay 30-55 dollars for a piece of meet, you expect extraordinary, not ordinary."

  • "There were 6 in our group & we gave the Brickhouse mixed review. We were seated promptly by friendly staff. Our server was pleasant but at times seemed distracted. Ordered salad never arrived. Appetizers, lamb, scallops excellent. Chicken Picatta too thick - should be thin - took away from flavor. Minimum water refill. Excellent creme brûlée! Pretty pricey but the corkage fee was waived ...very nice."

  • "Average steakhouse, food was good, service okay, restaurant not especially attractive, but good location downtown. It doesn't stand out though."

  • "I had the beer battered Cod fish and chips. The battered fish was quite good but there was nothing too special about the fries. My husband had 1/2 crab and shrimp Louie which was good. Portions were large. Service excellent. Unfortunately, the two of us were seated next to a very loud table of four so if was difficult to have any dinner conversation."

  • "I don't normally write reviews but I believe this deserves one. The service was terrible. Booked for 8 people which I understand is a lot. Took 15 minutes just for someone to come to the table for drinks. After that went down hill from drinks to food. The beef is very good quality. The cooking not so much. My steak was ordered blackened and came out wrong. They took the steak back and recooked a medium rare steak to almost well done and served it again. Of course once I wasn't happy they offered to cook another. The steak came out blackened with no flavor.. We did order an expensive bottle of wine and that was good.. Overall wont be back."

  • "Most steaks around 30 bucks and waiter--a woman--acted like she was taking order at a burger shack. No hello or small talk. Just hurried and didn't ask if we were having appetizers. Very strange. She was friendly but not professional like you expect at a nice steak house. And too loud in the place. You couldn't hear anybody at your table."

  • "We went to Brickhouse looking for a good meal in downtown, and because the reservations were available through OpenTable, which makes everything so easy, but I was totally amazed at how good everything was. We had oysters on the half shell, so tender and good, and they had a Beef Wellinton special, which was excellent; my husband had the fish tacos, my son the gigantic pork chop, and all was good. We especially loved Julie, our waitress."

  • "Charming, delightful restaurant in the heart of downtown Bend! We had all tapas plates from the Happy hour menu and couldn't have been happier! Everything was just yummy! Service was friendly and efficient. Drinks were great and reasonable! Very impressed and pleased! Have been twice in last 2 months and love this place!"

  • "Bartender was great. Food was excellent, but the service was poor. Great atmosphere, but the host forgot we were there and then the service was very marginal. Hopefully management will spend some time with the waiters and waitresses training them."

  • "I took my husband here for his birthday dinner. He is a steak lover and I couldn't have made a better choice. We started with a specialty cocktail and they were both luscious. I had the Wedge Salad and my husband had the Caesar Salad and both were very good. Both of us had the Filet Oscar with the au gratin potatoes which were perfectly cooked. This is the best steak I have had in Bend. For dessert we shared a piece of Apple Crumble Cheesecake and it was amazing. We will definitely be back! I was glad we were seated in the back room as the eating area near the bar is pretty energetic."

  • "For a steak house they couldn't get the temperature right on a filet. I requested the steak to be cooked to medium temperature. It came out of the kitchen 3 times rare. After the third time I gave up. Disappointed......."

  • "The overall experience was good but not worth the price charged for the entrees. The Sea Bass meat was cooked almost perfectly, but way too salty. I had the Manhattan with shrimp. The shrimp was over breaded and the meat lacked flavor. Plus the meat was not as tender as expected and had too much ribbing making it hard to eat the whole piece."

  • "Ordered an Iceberg wedge salad and the bacon-wrapped fillet. I asked the kitchen to chop the wedge (I prefer to not have to use my knife for my salad.) the salad was cool and crisp with very tasty dressing and seasonings. Very good! The steak was cooked perfectly and was one of the best flavored fillet that I have ever enjoyed. Served with a baked potato with crisp skin and all the trimmings and a nice mix of al-dente vegetables, this was a good old fashioned delight! I would/could not ask for a single thing to be changed to improve the meal."

  • "It was a bad choice on my part to pick your restaurant for the type of evening we wanted. It was my first time to your facility. We were meeting out of town friends we had not seen for 15 years. There was a lot to catch up on but unfortunately the noise level in your restaurant was so high it was impossible to communicate. Far from a reasonable sound level no matter what type of evening one is expecting. Very disappointing."

  • "Loved the ambience and looked forward to a meal that would equal it...did not happen. The halibut special was very under-seasoned and disappointing. The Philly cheesesteak was fatty, chewy and cut too thick, served on burnt bread. All the meals were served lukewarm including the filet mignon. It seemed that our presence was a nuisance to our waiter who seemed distracted and bothered. We ordered wine to be served with the entree and it wasn't delivered until we were over half way finished. Our water glasses were never refilled. Just moved to the area and was looking forward to eating here, but after this experience we have no plans to return."

  • "The steak is fabulous and the seasonal seafood specials are creative and well-prepared. What's best, though is the consistently great service by knowledgable and professional servers. In addition to an extensive wine list, the specialty cocktails are excellent."

  • "I took my girlfriend here for our two year anniversary together on October 20th and it was overall a great experience. I put reservations in weeks advanced so we were seating right away. But even if i didnt have reservations we probably still wouldve gotten in right away as there were many empty tables. The waiter was very nice and friendly and brought us bread within a minute of being seated. I ordered the New York Strip steak and my girlfriend ordered some type of fish. the steak was really tender, really juicy, the ONLY thing i hated about it was it was a bit chard on the outside like a burnt taste. overall a very nice place to take your date to for a special night. will definitely be back!"
