  • "I stopped by about 5 hours before my reservation to drop off flowers and stuff for a very special occasion. They handled my requests EXACTLY, even obtaining a birthday cake from somewhere else for me, since they don't normally carry them. The food, the wine, and the service were all excellent too. It was a magical evening. (To be fair, most of the credit for that belongs to her - It probably would have been magical even if we'd gone to McDonald's. But the people at the Briarwood made it PERFECT.)"

It seems like the chef is trying to modernize the offerings but just ended up with dishes that are not a good blend of flavors. I would especially recommend staying away from anything that is billed as "our recipe.""

  • "We ate here on a Friday night and had their 60 dollar prix fix menu that came with a appetizer (crackers and spreads), salad, choice of entree, and desert plate (hostess-esque snack size puffs and brownies). The food was not bad, I had the salmon, which was soaked in butter and slightly dry, my dining partner had the peppercorn steak, which was a nice peace of meat but a bit peppery for her taste. All in all the food was mediocre, but we enjoyed the setting immensely. It was like being in an old french cottage. However, the service completely ruined the experience. The waitstaff pretended like we didn't even exist, and were not the most friendly either. This was extremely disappointing, especially paying $145 (prior to tip) for 2 people,."

  • "We frequent the Briarwood for special occasions and in the summer for their outside dining. We chose the Briarwood for our 40th wedding anniversary and I went through Open Table to book it. I had added a comment about the special occasion and the possibility of being seated by the fireplace. I don't believe the comment was even looked at. We were seated in a different section of the restaurant and did have a nice table with a window, but no mention at all of the special occasion. We didn't expect anything free - just some acknowlegement of our 40th wedding anniversary. Guess they don't make notes on any of the incoming reservations."

  • "I took a friend to brunch and the food and ambiance was superb. There are so many wonderful dishes to choose from and there was not a single thing that wasn't prepared perfectly. The Briarwood Inn has an excellent reputation in Colorado and every time I have been there was an excellent experience."

  • "My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant for our anniversary. While the setting is nice, the food quality does not justify price. The prix fix meal (what this restaurant is known for) is $60 per person and includes a four course meal (appetizer tray, soup/salad, entree, and dessert). For my entree I ordered a filet minon. The first one they brought out to me did not look or taste like a filet minon (the cut actually looked more like a sirloin). After sending back the first steak I had to wait about 20-30 mins for a second one to be cooked. The second steak they brought out was certainly better than the first, but still not good quality. I ate and paid for it because I didn't want to make another fuss and spend more time there."

  • "I have dined at the Briarwood many times and this was the worst experience. There were four of us and we received one appetizer tray that previously would have been two. The spinach salad had too much dressing and the dressing had an unusual flavor. We asked what it was and were told they did not share recipes. We didn't want the recipe but wanted to know why the flavor was not good. The filets were not cooked as ordered and had to be returned. The grapes on the dessert tray were old and soft."

  • "Fresh fish Friday - delicious. Second week we've gone for fish. The preparation changes - again fantastic. $30.00/pp for a 3 course meal. Who could ask for anything more......good food......beautiful surroundings and in the company of your better half or friends. Fresh fish Friday continued through April 18."

  • "We've been here several times in the past, generally for special occasions. The menu is limited and a bit disappointing. We usually get the crab legs and/or a prime rib as they are prepared very well. None of the food we have tried there has been bad or ill-tasting. My qualm is with the limited menu and the prices. They have recently gone to adding a surcharge for the premium dinners in addition to the normal $60 per person 4-course meal. They do offer their products ala carte, but I'm guessing most people don't go that route as a dinner would be more expensive that the fixed cost of $60/plate. My overall opinion is that the restaurant has great food and service, but is overpriced and overrated."

  • "My wife's favorite restaurant. The prime rib and French onion soup are excellent. This is not a everyday restaurant however, for special dinners it is in the top 5 restaurants in Denver. What makes it number 1 is the location, decor, excellent food and excellent service. I don't like loud restaurants or taverns and The Briarwood Inn is anything but. Try their fish and chips in the tavern. Their chips are not true English chips, but the steak fries are fresh and have a great flavor. The fish is the best I have had in town, definitely worth a try for 15.00 dollars"

  • "The four course meal is the way to go! 1st course was traditional for The Inn and did not disappoint! The soup and salads were amazing as well. 3rd course (main) out of this world with perfect flavor and presentation! The only draw-back to our special evening out was the dessert tray. Not sure if the inn changes this seasonally or if it is always the same, but it lacked in diversity for our taste. (Lots of chocolate and alcohol infused chocolate) One of us is allergic to alcohol and the other does not care for chocolate. Over-all ... an amazing experience! Loved the ambience, the food and the service!"

Fish was prepared perfectly - sauce delicious - topped with vegetables/mushrooms. Won't go home hungry! Fresh fish special runs through April 18. Each week a different fish is featured. See you there next Friday!"

  • "We had a wonderful evening at the Briarwood for my wife's birthday. It was perfect for our party of 6 and we all had a great time. The service and atmosphere were great, but the food was average. The lobster bisque was served with a lot of fanfare with lumps of overcooked lobster placed in bowls on the table and then the liquid poured over it. By the time it was in our bowls, it had cooled and was thick and pasty. The spinach salad was wilted and over-dressed. The cioppino was salty and otherwise bland. The elk was delicious as were the lobster tails and beef medallions, so stay close to home and you'll be okay. It's still a great place to go for special occasions, but know that you're going there for the atmosphere and not the food"

Very cozy; service was professional yet personal. Had quite a lot of food with the Fixe Price option, all delicious. Wasn't as busy as I would have thought for a Sat night. Maybe they need to do more advertising...specials...Sunday brunch info....just a thought."

  • "We had not been to the Briarwood for sometime. After making reservations, I read some of the negative reviews and saw they had changed the menu. I almost cancelled. Don't listen to the bad reviews!! Yes it's changed a bit, but they still have the wonderful apps, I had the onion soup (off the charts good!). All 4 of us chose a differnt entree' and all were amazing. Service is very Proffessional, our waiter was very experienced and was great. We will definitely be back!"

  • "We visited at the end of restaurant week. The Briarwood Inn has very nice anmbience in a sort of country-club or classic old-fashioned style. The restaurant week menu was a bit underwhelming featuring Briarwood Medalions Duo, Sesame Ginger Salmon or Lemon Polenta. The winter salad was very nice but more than a bit pricey at $12 for the one in our party ordering a la carte. Medallions duo turned out to be a singl ebeef tenderloin medallion accompanied by a scallion with parsnip puree and a few vegetables. Rounding out the meal was profiteroles, chocolate mouse infused with Grand Marnier, or Hot Buttered Rum. The servings were small, the scallops were just ok. The server was very nice and included a free desert. and service was excellent."
