Diner Reviews
  • "The filet was mouthwatering. Absolutely delicious. My friend ordered a seafood melody in tomato broth. It had a bit more of a tomato taste than what the waiter suggested and was a bit salty. He said it was good but personally wouldn't order it again. The lobster fritters were wonderful. We had a great table out of the way of traffic. Met early for a drink in the bar."

  • "Hi Kim was a great server and the pre-fix menu is well worth the price."

  • "Wonderful evening - perfect way to celebrate our retirement. Ray took fantastic care of us. Appetizer tray was delicious as usual. Jimmy's Italian Margaritas were fantastic. We ordered prime rib and peppered steak - enough for 2 meals. Melted in your mouth. Dessert tray after a wonderful meal was perfect. Enough to take home for a second most enjoyable meal."

  • "We went to hear a Frank Sinatra tribute on the patio and had drinks & appetizers. The place was packed! Because everyone showed up and ordered at 5:30 when the music started, service was a little slow, but we went for the music so it didn't matter. I've been there on other occasions and the service was fantastic - they are usually very attentive and food is always wonderful. They have their signature appetizer tray on Mondays for less than half it's normal cost, so that's a favorite day to go there, too."

  • "For a restaurant of this caliper I expect to have our wait person serve us however, someone else served our champagne and I had to refill our champagne glasses our waiter did absolutely nothing except take our order and our check and the restaurant was not busy at all (maybe 7 parties a total of 30 guests maximum)! I am a big tipper when earned and left a very small tip percentage wise due to the lack of attention we received for example empty water glasses etc."

  • "This is the second time I've been here. The service is impeccable and the food is not only wonderful to taste, but it's wonderful to look at. It's not only a meal, but a presentation as well. If you're looking to impress your date, this is the place to go."

  • "The quality is what you would expect for this price range with a prix fixe menu, but they are surprisingly generous with the portions. We were shocked when they allowed a patron to have her dog accompany her in the restaurant. Not what is expect of this type of restaurant. I was a bit offended. Our waiter Ray had about 15-20 tables with limited support from busing staff; Ray did the majority of filling our water and served all of our food. Although he had to run around a lot, he was very personable and entertaining. If he noticed an empty glass or long wait time, he would make a joke to keep us happy. Overall the experience was below what you'd expect from a restaurant in this price range, but Ray made it worthwhile."

  • "We chose the Briarwood for a dinner with another visiting couple that we have know for 50 years. The location and ambiance were very good. The menu was appropriate for the occasion. The expense at $100 per person with wine and tip was appropriate.... One big issue was the over attentive wait staff. We wanted to "go slow dinner" and listen to stories. We mentioned this to the wait staff, however we kept being pushed down the process they had planned for us. Too many stories being interrupted trying to get our order into the kitchen and on to the next course.... European dining at a restaurant of this caliber is aware of the occasional diner taking their time to enjoy an evening with food and conversation..."

  • "Music on the Terrace - another delightful Wednesday evening. Briarwood does everything to make their customers happy. Enjoyed jazz while we dined on Sirloin burger and Fish Fry. Both meals were delicious. Highly recommend Wednesdays at the Briarwood. You can order from the dining room menu or the Tavern menu."

  • "We celebrated our 53rd wedding anniversary on the 24th of June here. Everything was perfect. We love to come here for special occasions. We always tell our family and friends about this place. The food, the wine and the service was excellent."

  • "We have eaten here many times over the years. Although the menu has changed (for the better) , the service and ambiance has remained consistent. This is the finest all around restaurant in Golden."

  • "The Briarwood is one of those restaurants to which our family returns year after year for birthdays, anniversaries, and all special occasions. It is unique in the Denver area in this regard. The Briarwood also has a great Sunday brunch which makes for a special occasion all by itself."

  • "We brought a friend from out of town with us to enjoy Sol Quatro and dinner. Wonderful evening....great music....great service from Kim....great wine. Ordered the Tenderloin Tacos - extremely tender, juicy and delicious. Enjoyed the Sirloin burger - more than enough for any man. Our friend had the Summer Cobb Salad - dressing on the side. Did think he could finish the entire salad - it was that big - but he managed. Unfortunately the weather wasn't in our favor and the music was inside - still wonderful Wednesday evening!"

  • "We always enjoy this restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the service is excellent. We both had poached eggs with our entrée and unfortunately they were both cold when they reached our table. Other than that we had a great meal and will be return customers for a long time to come."

  • "Food was exquisite, flavors were perfect, that is, right on the culinary bulls eye Mark Condon General Mgr Red Rocks Country Club"

  • "Wait staff not particularly attentive. Water glasses only filled when empty instead of freshen frequently. Server a little clumsy when bringing out food. Spilled a bit of au jus on the table. Could have been worse and spilled the wine. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry."

  • "Always delicious and the service is outstanding! I love the cocktail shrimp appetizer with the various spreads!"

  • "We took our friends who we're celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary to the Briarwood for a special dinner. The appetizer tray, 1st course and 2nd course were all very good. The dessert tray way s not great, because a couple of the items were stale. Our server was very good, but pretty slow. For $100 per person, I would have expected everything to be great and a little more prompt service."

  • "Enjoyed Music on the Terrace - although not on the Terrace due to weather. Our friends said the wine they chose was excellent. As usual, the food was outstanding - a must try is their sirloin burger, huge. Cobb salad was delicious and healthy. The guys both had Fish & chips - they ate every bite. Since we were inside and the music was a bit loud in the dining room we moved to the Tavern - could still enjoy the wonderful jazz and talk to one another. Denise took great care of us. Thanks, Briarwood, for Music on the Terrace every Wednesday night during the summer. See you this Wednesday with another friend of ours."

  • "We were at The Briarwood Inn for my husband's birthday. Everything was EXCELLENT! The appetizer tray was delicious! The spinach salad with hot bacon dressing was out of this world! So few restaurants offer that salad. Our entrees were extraordinary! I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion:)"

  • "We especially love to be seated on the patio in the summer. However, unfortunately this year it was raining, so we were seated inside. Nice, but not nearly as pleasant. Food, as always, was outstanding. My husband had the elk medallions and was pleasantly surprised. I had the French onion soup as my appetizer---quite an unusual presentation, but yummy."

  • "Overall a great dining experience that every couple should try. It can be a bit pricey but the food and staff make it worth it."

  • "We ordered Ala Carte and loved our food selections. Service was just a bit slow as our server was also caring for a party of 10-12. The delicious food (filet and prime rib) was beyond superb."

  • "We liked the way it all went over all. My guests were impressed with it all and so made the night! The food as always was wonderful, the drink I had was perfect too. I do have a suggestion for the managers. There seems to be many people to take care of the diners, but we had a mix up in the delivery. My lady friend and I had each others order. They were the same steak, cooked a little differently. We didn't really find out until we got in the the 'meat' of the meal!! haha. The problem was, one person takes the order, another delivers it. Perhaps more care could be taken. And with all the extra folks to take care of the diners, the drink man was so over worked. I thought to have some coffee with the desert and it was delayed."

  • "Food was ok. Atmosphere ok, a little noisy. Waiter service poor, buss service good. A little pricey for the quality. Would not recommend, there are better places in Denver for fine dining"

  • "We celebrated our 57th wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed the Frank Sinatra music on the patio while enjoying an appetizer and wine. We they went inside for our main meal and had a great meal. We like the new menu options"

  • "My friends, ladies, and I enjoyed the Music on the Terrace.....Sinatra. Had a few cocktails - listen to and enjoyed Sinatra songs and antics. Makes you part of his performance. 2 of us enjoyed the Cobb Salad - one the Sirloin burger - another ordered mashed potatoes (that's really what she wanted) - and the 5th ordered Artichoke dip and Truffle fries. Everyone enjoyed their meals. 2 of the ladies had house made ice cream - said it was the best they've had. Check the schedule for Music on the Terrace - every Wednesday beginning at 5:30pm. Best mid-week meal and entertainment around! Price is right!"

  • "We went on a thursday evening for a birthday dinner. We had requested an outside table and they graciously accommodated (even though they hadn't "officially" opened the outside seating yet). Our server was Jimmy (also the bar tender) and he was fantastic, he had great recommendations, he timed the meal out perfectly so we weren't inundated with food. The food itself was exceptional! We had the Prix Fixe and all I can say is WOW, the appetizer platter is amazing, the shrimp cocktail with probably 12 shrimp, and salmon dip were our favorites. We both loved the french onion soup, hubs got the pepper steak, and I the Cioppino both were amazing! Can't say enough good things about this place! Can't wait to go back! "

  • "I've taken my good friends here for their wedding anniversary almost every year and we just celebrated their 58th. First time for Champagne Brunch, and we loved it. I ordered flowers online and Briarwood had them on the table before we arrived. Service is superb, prime rib unbelievable. We've always loved the décor, the china, the customers who dress well, and the great waitstaff. It's like the past recaptured."

  • "I went on a Sunday at 10am and we were the only ones in their until the time we left. Its a bit pricey for the food options you get. They cleared the pastries and fruit when the food came out...But I would have liked them to leave for after the meal!! But the prime rib was killer and pastries were yum!"

  • "Tried the scallops w/risotto - delicious....had this as an appetizer - loved it so much that I ordered it for my entrée. Peppered steak was done to perfection. New desserts too - all delicious. Had plenty to take home for a second meal. Ray was fantastic - took care of our every wish. Meal was served with time between courses - never rushed. Weather outside was 'frightful' but the meal and service was 'delightful'. "

  • "We dined at BI several years ago and were very favorably impressed. This time our experience was somewhat different. The complimentary appetizer tray is gone unless you choose to pay an exorbitant amount, and the prices have really skyrocketed!! I had the ravioli entree which was delicious but the portion on the small side --all for $26. Very overpriced! We had a party of 8 and everyone thought portions were small for the very high prices. We had to request bread from our waiter who made some crack that we should have ordered the prix fixe menu if we wanted bread. We probably will not be back which is too bad because it is such a beautiful restaurant. "
