Diner Reviews
  • "I was with a group of three other women. I was the only one who had been to Brewer's Art. My co-diner we impressed with the atmosphere of the location. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the the history and the architectural aspects of the building. Our waiter was also extremely with explaining the various dishes on the menu and helping us make our choices. Everyone in my group was happy with the taste and presentation of our meals. The two desserts we tried were also excellent."

  • "Loved the uniqueness of the building and design. Very relaxed bar and lounge area. Fabulous wine and very comprehensive beer menu! Very knowledgeable and professional wait staff. Had an amazing Anniversary dinner. Highly recommend the swordfish and flank steak!"

  • "Our server knew her stuff - she was able to promptly inform on menu selections and she knew the beer flavor profiles. (And in the off chance she didn't know the answer, she was able to find it quickly - AND she wasn't annoyed in doing so.) The restaurant itself is in an absolutely beautiful building and the decor is tasteful and classic. We loved it here and will come back for sure. We only shared appetizers so I can't comment on the entrees but I can tell you that the food and beer were quite good, and the service made the difference."

  • "the appetizers were larger in size than the entrees; entrees are way too small for the price, however on this menu you will find things that you never see on other menus. "it's fun to experiment" seems to be the theme. dining room can be very noisy if crowded (no carpet). service was very attentive without being obstrusive. plan on $100 or more for two people with a drink each. don't fill up on the delicious bread offered before the food comes!"

  • "I've been living in Baltimore for so long and just now finding my way to Brewer's Art. SO DELICIOUS! We opted for the dining room with a reservation and although more expensive, delicious food & beer! Would love to come and check out the bar area and food as well. I stepped out of my comfort zone and ordered the duck...delicious! GREAT date night before a show at the Lyric."

  • "This was our first trip to the Brewer's Art. There is no sign on the door - so it was good that we had the address with us. You walk through a very busy bar to get to the restaurant which was a bit odd. Otherwise, no complaints. Our server was very nice and enthusiastic. My husband tried one of their beers which he really enjoyed. I had a nice Caesar salad for an appetizer, but my husband scored the jackpot by ordering the pork belly. It was phenomenal. We both had the Steak Frites and were very pleased with the taste, the portion size, and how they were prepared. I had the blueberry cake and my husband tried the ginger flan. Very good but nothing special. Would go back."

  • "This will be our preconceptions destination from now on. Just a couple blocks from the Myerhoff or Lyric. Very interesting interior and food was very good."

  • "My daughter in Law, son, and I were attending a concert at the Meyerhoff, and made pre concert plans at Brewer's Art. It never disappoints. Waiter was excellent, asked if we were attending a show so as to pace properly, and did an outstanding job. We shared the Mussels which were outstanding as well as an interesting pasta appetizer. Terrific! Fish dishes were fresh and creative, my sons pot roast tender and flavorful. Of course the beer selection was outstanding. A must visit if your in Baltimore."

  • "My poor review of the food is not because the food wasn't good, it was because everything came out luke warm. I'm sure the food would have been great if it were hot."

  • "Awesome food and awesome beer. We came for our anniversary and it was my wife's first time eating here. She loved it. Definitely recommend the Waygu Beef Pot Roast. "

  • "We had a drink before dinner, a fine craft beer and a tasty gin drink from the specialty drink menu. The bar scene was lively. Our table was ready at our scheduled time. Our server recommended a lamb sausage appetizer that was delicious! We also had a very good Caesar salad. The steak frites was good, however the Atlantic fluke not so good, a little dry. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine and a tasty tart for dessert. We will return."

  • "My girlfriend and I picked this spot for a special occasion. The food was superb. And even though we had heard the beer they brew is very good, we opted to try the cocktail list, and by the end of the night we had tried all but one on the list, they were all fantastic. It was like drinking art."

  • "Our server was as knowledgeable as she was warm and friendly, and she gave us excellent advice regarding food choices and wine--the Lone Birch Gewurtztraminer she recommended (available by the glass) was superb and paired very well with the fluke entree. We had the fluke and the roast onion stuffed with barley entrees and both were excellent. The cappuccino cheesecake dessert was wonderful--strong flavor, not overly sweet, and the texture not too light or too heavy. I usually scorn cheesecake, but not this time--this was cheesecake for adults! This was the best restaurant meal we've had in a long time!"

  • "Love the bar, the restaurant is not as good as it should be. The beer is amazing. The food is imaginative but too heavy-handed. But still a very fun place to go - we will be back. "

  • "We went early on a weeknight for dinner before a show. The place is lovely, and there's a really vibrant bar up front. Interestingly, the place has no signage out front, but fortunately I had the address. The food was good, but in my opinion, not outstanding. The beer selection is, of course, terrific, and the waiter was quite good. I don't live in town, and I doubt I would make a special effort to come back here."

  • "There were a limited number of entrees on the menu -- 2 fish, 1 chicken, 3 red meat, 1 vegetarian -- and no specials were offered the night we were there. No shellfish entrees on the menu. (Can you get away with that in Baltimore??) That said, we all found something to eat and all were delicious."

  • "We had heard about this place from friends and wanted to try it out before going to the Meyerhoff. Definately a good choice. Our waiter was super helpful with suggestions and descriptions that were bang on. The food was delicious and we all shared. We will be back."

  • "The Brewer's Art was a delightful choice before a Center Stage play. The food was terrific and the house beers, wonderful (Ozzy and the Charm City Sour Cherry). Service was friendly and knowledgeable and professional. One criticism: I would have preferred a real portion of vegetables with the main entree (we had lamb and the pot roast -- omg) in addition to the otherwise awesome presentation. But that is a minor pick. Highly recommend!!!!"

  • "Great option before going to the symphony. Meal was variable--my green bean salad appetizer was to die for, and my entree was really good, but my husband's pot roast entree was just ok. Matches my previous experience here. Would definitely go back pre-event, though. Beer list of course is great."

  • "limited menu. paid $28 for a cheap, tough steak. All fluff, no substance "

  • "Having been a regular diner at Brewer's Art for a number of years, I have sworn by the steak frites. It's the reason I go there. In fact, I have told many that it's the best steak in town, even over the premium steak restaurants. However, I have been disappointed by the steak on my last two visits. It is not as large nor as good a cut of meat as it used to be. Price remains the same. The service is consistently good and the beers are great. When the dining area is full and/or there is a group present, it can be extremely loud."

  • "We chose Brewer's Art for it's close proximity to the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Street parking on N. Charles St. was also much easier than anticipated on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is in a magnificently restored old Baltimore mansion, quite elegant interior. The neighborhood is chock-full of young professionals (Johns Hopkins) and the bar scene noteworthy for selection of beer and ales; although wine selection by the glass somewhat limited. Dinner menu was also satisfying and our waiter (Corey) quite enthusiastic and knowledgeable. A high-energy, cheerful ambiance, bound to lift your spirits. "

  • "After looking for a place to get a bite to eat before going to a show at the Meyerhoff, I chose this place because it was an easy 5 block walk away. I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance..as well as the quality of food. Can't wait for another chance to return."

  • "I was expecting a bar with bar food so I was surprised when the host led us to a dining room with white table cloths. Chicken was moist and flavorful and steak was perfectly prepared. The lemon tart was a lovely finish to the meal. Food is not adventurous but is simple and excellently prepared. Service was polite with good timing. Will certainly return."

  • "Been here a dozen times and have had very good food in the past, which usually made up for the high cost. This time the dishes pushed the edge a bit much - not sure I really needed a big smear of peanut butter under the poached duck egg along with my monkfish loin. Portions were smaller than usual - paying $28 for an entree should yield more then four bites of fish. Service and ambience were very good, as usual, but it still puzzles me why there is no overlap between the excellent bar menu downstairs and the upstairs restaurant."

  • "The Brewer's Art has become one of our favorite Baltimore restaurants. It is well worth the drive or cab ride from the Inner Harbor. The beers are varied and well crafted and the food is refined and well conceived. We had carrot and ginger soup (fantastic!), sweetbreads with sunchokes (very nice and difficult to find on American menus) a lovely salad, steak frites (beautiful hangar steak cooked perfectly), roasted chicken and monkfish loin (actually sturgeon because the menu had just changed over) and every dish was well received. Even the desserts were wonderful and seemed to have been made in house. Service is friendly and efficient and the room is beautiful and very relaxing. "

  • "I went here for my birthday and was impressed with the craft beers and the food. I had the Ozzy beer, which had a great smoothie taste. Their Steak Fritters was amazing, the steak was cooked a perfect medium rare and was very juicy; not to mention, their garlic fries are out of this world! If you go the fries and Ozzy beer are a must!"

  • "Every bit the gem it was 12+ years ago, when last there (following relocation), and worth the search for a parking spot. I first searched it out as a craft beer/brewpub, and came to love ambiance and food, as well. Happily, the beer is every bit as good (and now some available packaged), and "at least four chefs later" (according to our waitress) the menu and food just as compelling - tasteful and beautifully presented. The "reasonable" portion sizes allow for enjoying two and even three courses, if partaken without rushing and with conversation interspersed. And, the dining areas are unchanged as well, although the tables and chairs felt more substantial than in the past. Only the bar area was slightly noisy, but expectedly so."
