  • Public Transit: Light Rail stop #11 at Roosevelt and Central Ave. Walking distance, just a few blocks North of The Breadfruit & Rum Bar.

  • Parking Details: Parking available on street at meters, which are free after 5:00 PM M-F and free all weekend.

    A large paid ASU parking lot is available behind the building. They accept cash and credit card payments. Very well lit and just steps away from the restaurant.

  • "Our team of 5 dined at The Breadfruit while in Phoenix for a business meeting two weeks ago. What a wonderful experience we had! Wonderful cocktails, appetizers, entrées, and desert, everything was down right delicious! Great ambiance. Great service. Great everything! They have something for everyone. One of our team members tried a cigar and decided to take a few home. The side patio was a great place to finish our cocktails and to sit and converse. I would recommend this restaurant again and again. Thanks Breadfruit!"

Food and cocktails were very good, (not much of a wine list but forget about that, go with the cocktails) and modestly priced for the quality. It helps that I love reggae and Ska music.   • "Best have reservations on a weekend. The cocktails were great though a bit slow in delivery for the 2nd order. Nice varietyof appetizers and reasonable listing of 2nd and main courses. Serving size definitely reasonable and not promoting obesity. I MUST compliemnt the flavors. Intense but not overwhelming. It was definitley not about the HOT but about the zing if you know what I mean? I had the red snapper and I would order it every night except my wife loved the mussels and I drooled at watching others eat their jerk chicken and keep licking their fingers... We wil lmake the ffort to drive downtown again. parking very convenient behind the restaurant in an ASU parkling lot (paid)."

  • "Made reservations for my lady and I. Promptly seated at a nice table near the open frame windows. Nice atmosphere, airy open ceilings, rustic bar with a nice selection of spirits. Opened with the rum punch of the day, raspberry - passion fruit, nice not too sweet .Appetizer was some kind of forgettable shrimp thing. The entree was curried goat with rice and veggies which had a very nice savory game like quality to it but very tender in the curried gravy. My SO had the mussels which were very big for mussels you usually get ... some sort of variety from the Mediterranean, a bit too gooey but had a nice flavor. Dessert was a lovely sweet potato pie with a coffee liquor drizzle across the plate ... highly recommended."

They also have a smoking area for cigars that they sell, very nice. I would go back, not every week, but maybe once a month."

  • "The menu includes many delectable dishes using Island spices lightly, the appetizers have been carefully chosen and give the taste buds a hint of what to expect with the entre. The cocktail chosen by my companion, a rum mixture using juices from Island fruits was reportedly a tantalizing flavorful choice, my own choice, a non-alcoholic carrot juice that made use of coconut was very taste. The waiter was very attentive, well versed in the menu, observant of our every need."

  • "Saved the best for last... First off let me say this was a wonderful dining experience. The food was amazing and the chefs creativity with Jamaican cuisine should be celebrated. Sat outside on the boardwalk which was nice and had a few cocktails pre dinner. We had: white fish rolls, jerk scallops, red stripe curry prawns,escovitch red snapper. Delish ! They fly their blue mountain coffee in regularly. Memories of home I wish we had this back in Toronto. Thank you Dwayne."

  • "I have been a customer of the breadfruit for a fairly long time. I am now a former customer. This week was simply the last time that myself not my family will be treated poorly and have to deal with the poor attitude of the owner. While the opentable process was excellent, it was in fact a waste of time. My guests were made to wait for most an hour past the reservation time. Very disappointed. I have recommended this restaurant to any over the years and will cease to do so anymore."

  • "A little off the beaten path (I was staying at the Palomar and in town for a convention at the Phoenix Convention Center) and we went here for dinner. The food was good - definitely Caribbean and not really other options other than Carribean. Limited menu, but it's great if you are a Caribbean food fan! They do not deviate from the menu, so no substitutions of any kind. Also, the non-alcoholic drinks are oddly limited. Check the menu before you head over and don't expect to order anything "your way." Again - it's fine if you like what you see and it's good quality."

I will go back when I don't have an event scheduled because the food was so good! Had the Jerk Pork and polenta and the best Mojito of my life!"

  • "The Breadfruit is a bit hard to find, and since it is downtown, you will probably have to pay to park in the lot to the north of the restaurant. We were seated promptly (we had a reservation) and our server was friendly and capable. We enjoyed our rum drinks, but our appetizer was lacking in flavor. My daughter and her boyfriend enjoyed the seafood they ordered (salmon and shrimp), but I was quite disappointed in my jerk pork. It was lacking in flavor, and the everything on the plate was the same color. Perhaps I should have ordered the goat instead."

  • "We have eaten at Breadfruit 3 times and it is one of our Phoenix favorites. You can't go wrong starting with the rum punch at the door, but you have to try their specialty cocktails with all the homemade infusions; to die for. The Streetside Chicken is smoked perfectly, the Goat Curry is tender and delicious - the best goat around grown just for them. The seafood is great. You have to be flexible because they sometimes run out of entrees - the cooking is totally fresh. For dessert the Sweet Potato Pie is so unique and totally delicious. I can't say enough good things about Breadfruit. Be sure to have a reservation because they are SO busy."

  • "Loved another opportunity to eat here. This place is warm and inviting and hip. The rum selection is pretty spectacular and even if you arent a rum afficianado, you wish you were when you gaze at the selection. You can trust the bartender to steer you in the right direction. Food is delish. Local and regionally sourced, authentic, good selection but not overwhelming. Just try to ignore the waiter who talks too much. Chances are, however annoying, he still cant kill the vibe. Seriously good snapper. Curry island style."

  • "Dwayne met us at the door and got us settled at the bar. Kristin was our bartender for the evening. We placed ourselves in her capable hands and she paired drinks with our food all night long. We started a scallop appetizer (perfectly prepared) and I had the Tradewinds Swizzle & my wife had the Hemingway Daiquiri (which turned out to be her favorite drink of the night). After some time at the bar we moved to the dining room for a fantastic supper. I started with soup of the day then on to the jerk chicken. Fantastic. Kristen was true to her word and provided some really tasty drinks to go along with our equally tasty meal. We'll definitely return for more of their delicious fare."

  • "From the moment we arrived, our party of 4 was treated to a dining experience that turned out to be magical. The maitre d' was delightful, from explaining the restaurant's concept and rum-drink choices for first-timers, to checking in on us throughout dinner and even explaining what makes the Guinness Foreign Stout so special and offering suggestions for drink pairings. We ordered small plates of Appleton Rum Sea Scallops and Plantain Avocado Spring Rolls. For our meal, three of us ordered the Jerk Pork with Polenta, which was spicy without being overwhelming, and the fourth ordered the Slow Braised Beef Stew. She shared samples of it with the rest of us and it was quite good. We shared a dessert. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable."
