Once again they hit it out of the
park! Each time we go we bring friends and they always rave and thank us. Specials are great... don't miss small plate lamb chops, mac and cheese, ACTUALLY it's all great."

We enjoyed our meal at the Brass
Rail. We would have also enjoyed some lighter, more vegetarian fare. While they offer salads, they have candied nuts and fruits in them, so they really are not very healthy. (The Caesar salad is terrific, but it has cheese and ham which are part of its wonderful taste. If you are looking for a good, meaty meal, this is an excellent venue. The service is perfect."

Everytime I've come here I've had
nothing but a great experience. A place where every bite you take makes you wish the meal wouldn't end. And they make an excellent dirty vodka martini! Keep up the good work!"

Worthy of constant returns. Each
visit to this restaurant is a repeat performance of great service with a menu of choices that never disappoint in quality and price."
Dined on 2/27/2014
They are good at "customizing" the
entrees , food is basic American and well prepared. Good wines by the glass as well. It is not a fancy place- just good food!"
Dined on 2/21/2014
The Brass Rail is a cozy, quaint
spot for dinner. The food was delicious as were the drinks. Would highly recommend it!"

My wife and I have been to the
Brass Rail many times and each time we truly enjoy our meal. The food is terrific, the service friendly and professional and the prices are reasonable. The menu is eclective without being weird or intimidating and everything from salads, the wide assortment of appetizers and "small plates" to complete dinners are outstanding."
Dined on 2/17/2014
The food was good. My wife and I
had the chateau Briande) not sure of the spelling. A lot of potatoes but little meat. The asparagus were very good but could have eaten a few more. Some vegetable appetizers would be nice on the list. I do enjoy the choice of tap beer but feel riped off on the small size on the glass but being charged full price. My wife and I left to go to another local place to have a few more beers and Wines. There prices were 1/2 your, drinks were just as good and the beer glass was a full pint"

My wife and I went for Valentines
Day. They had their usual menu with great specials. We were seated immediately then greeted by our waiter. The food was excellent as it always is. The service friendly attentive but not intrusive. For a small neighborhood restaurant, this place is run on the highest level. The only drawback is that you have to book reservations far in advance."
Dined on 2/14/2014
Two of us arrived and we were
seated at our table(none of this you must wait for yr party to be complete before being seated) Nice patient waiter as the others drifted in slowly. We had some appetizers that were very good (salads). Main course varied (which I liked because you didn't need "all that food". I had solicitous fish tacos, others had jagervurst ( loved) grilled chicken sandwhich and some repeats. All were delicious and well served. The ambiance is warm and cozy. Overall a great experience."

restaurant. great service---great food!!!"

This is an excellent restaurant
for Locust Valley. I love coming here with my family because the food is outstanding. I love the way they marinate their meat. It's so juicy and succulent each time. Compliments to the chef. I also love the ambiance and coziness this place has to offer."
Dined on 1/18/2014
This is the best of the best in my
book. The food is overwhelmingly good. Our favorites are the short rib quesadillas, the fried oysters, the parmesan crisp on the Caesar salad (ask for extra) and the chateaubriand. I have brought everyone I know to this restaurant and will keep doing it."
Dined on 1/18/2014
Very nice place with great
food....portions smaller....but very loud if seated in the bar, where everyone seems to know each other!"
Dined on 1/10/2014
We visited the Brass Rail because
its burger was rated one of the best on Long Island, and were delighted that everything on the menu was delicious. (The shoestring french fries, which were too thin to have any potato favor at all, were the only exception. Order the truffle Parmesan fingerling potatoes, instead.)"

We loved it here so much when we
went, we ate there two days later...and we were not disappointed the second time! Can't say enough good things about this place. Food is delicious and elegantly presented. The staff is knowledgable and experienced. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic - but it doesn't seem stuffy at all, more like someone's nicely appointed living room. Can't wait to go back! Try both the caesar and the duck - neither will disappoint!!!"

The restaurant always is terrific.
It is great for dinner and small meals , if you are not to hungry. Being it was New years Eve, there were 6 people, and everyone enjoyed their meal. The Sea Bass special was perfect, and the appetizers never disappoint. They also Great as Usual!!!"
Dined on 12/31/2013
Slow service did not deter from
excellent small plates, wonderful wine list. a bit noisy for a weekday night."
Dined on 12/11/2013
The classics all have a twist of
something special. The Appetizers (Bar Menu) you can do TAPAS with. I can't pick a favorite, but first timer suggestions would be to start with chicken wings and ribs (they fall off the bone). Quesedilla is awsome too. All bar menu apps are amazing! Really. You can go to small plates or entrees depending on how hungry you are. They have haute cuisine daily specials...Fish, exotic meats, pork... Certainly is something for everyone. Don't miss the lobster mac n cheese. I can go on and on, but this place always ROCKS!"

The food was very good but service
wasnt that great. the waiter and servers made mistakes with orders. my 2 friends ordered dishes only to be told 10 minutes later" out of those. Then when food came to the table, that 1 original order was on table and my friend said, thats not his. that was for a different table. next different order was on my other friend's, . that friend said i didnt order this. we were all what' s happening here? the waiter apologized ."

This was our second visit to Brass
Rail and it didn't disappoint. The staff is friendly, our reservation and table request were honored and the service is excellent. The food is very, very good with a range of menu selections to suit all appetites and tastes, and is beautifully presented. We shared and salad and an appetizer which were divided in the kitchen and served individually to each of us. We look forward to our next visit. Highly recommend."

I decided to take my girlfriend
here for dinner after hearing from many people how great it was. THEY WERE RIGHT! not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the service was fantastic! I don't remember my waiters name but I do remember I tipped him very well! great food great service great vibe great drinks CANT GO WRONG!"

The Rail is consistently solid.
Food is always good. Cheff Kent and his highly skilled kitchen star talent take great care in providing interesting creative daily specials and the regular menu offers so many comfort foods with a foodie twist that will not dissappoint. Always a great destination for flavor lovers."

The Small Plates are outstanding.
Can make a meal out of those alone."

Only showed $$ but should be $$$-
dinner for 2 was $275 with top. Had 4 drinks. Good was great and so was service."

Couldn't have asked for a better
experience. Our waiter, the food, the atmosphere - just we were looking for. Will definitely go back."
Dined on 10/26/2013
I've been to the Brass Rail many
times. It was a favorite but my experience on Oct. 10 left me feeling I won't be back anytime soon, if at all. We sat for at least 10 min. before anyone came over to our table & then was asked if it was okay if he could take another order before our drinks. He finally returned, took our drink & food order, we had to ask for bread, only 3 drinks came, food came before the 4th drink finally arrived, with his apologies, which became the theme of the evening. How many times does your server say 'I'm sorry' during the course of a meal. The tables in the restaurant are so crowded together that we were constantly bumped throughout our meal by people and servers trying to pass. There are plenty of other eateries"
Dined on 10/11/2013
We picked this restaurant because
it had a diversified menu, with reasonable prices for todays day and age. The reservation was at 8:00. Our table was ready a nod waiting for us at 8:00. The appetizer salads were all fresh and delicious, and my husbands soup came nice and hot. I ordered salmon, prepared differently then the menu suggested. They honored all my requests, and it was delicious. Everyone at the table ordered something different, from pasta with lobster and shrimp to halibut, and everyone enjoyed their dishes. We would definitely go back, and definitely recommend trying it."

the food was very good, service
was friendly, the noise level was loud"

A friend recommended the
restaurant and it was everything he said and more. The wait staff was efficient without being annoying. The food was a little bit different. Enough to keep it interesting. We live over a half hour away and it was worth the drive."
Dined on 9/15/2013
Great restaurant! Menu has many
options to choose from as well as daily specials. Everything we ordered was delicious and the waiter was very friendly. He did a excellent job in explaining his favorite dishes. We took his recommendation and ordered the Sea Bass. It was the best Sea Bass we ever had. All the desserts are homemade. You have to try the cheese cake! We will be returning to The Brass Rail very soon."

We'd heard a great deal about The
Brass Rail and eat at its sister restaurant, Heirloom Tavern, frequently. The menus have some similarities but different choices, and The Brass Rail, being a wider room with higher ceilings, is far less noisy. The staff was warm, friendly and knowledgeable - our server was great at making recommendations, and was enthusiastic about the food and its preparation. Everything was delicious and nicely presented. Choices range from small plates and sandwiches to main entrees. It is indeed one of the best restaurants we've dined in in this area and look eagerly toward returning."
Dined on 8/25/2013
This Gastro Pub richly deserves
the designation, since the food is excellent and it has the best selection of small plates, in fact there are 3 sections of the menu in addition to "Entrees" -- salads, appetizers, and small plates. These are so good that I have been getting combinations of them rather than an entree, and the people I bring agree! Go!"
Dined on 8/22/2013
Once again I was delighted to have
booked at the Brass Rail for a celebratory dinner. Thank you to the wait staff for a job well done. The wine that was recommended was very, very good. All in all - a very memorable evening. Thank you!"
Dined on 8/12/2013
Had dined here a few times a
couple of years ago and always loved it. Large menu with bar food, small plates, and lots of other options. This past dining experience was different from what I remember. The food and service were somewhat disappointing. Will definitely try it again though. Restaurant attractive, vibrant and has a good menu."
Dined on 7/27/2013
my husbsnd ordered the shrimp and
oyster PoBoy which was chockful of large shrimp and oysters done to perfection. The capecod sandwich was breaded in cornflakes and was crunchy while the fish was moist. then there was the shoestring fries.. we asked for them well done snd they were perfect. service was great! water glasses refilled. Food brought out at a relaxing pace. cappaccino hot snd with nice foam. A very successful evening."
Dined on 8/12/2013
Outstanding service. Noisy in the
bar area. Can become crowded when eating. Excellent food!"
Dined on 7/28/2013
This restaurant has gone downhill.
Having eaten there at least half a dozen times previously, I was excited to enjoy a similar dining experience to what I had had in the past. However, this was anything but that. The service was poor, the people next to us were seated after us, ordered after us and received their food way before us, even though we only ordered soups and salads, and they had gotten cooked food. We actually had to track down our waiter to get our food. And the food overall was less than impressive. I will not be returning any time soon."
Dined on 7/21/2013
I saw a review of this place and
their burgers. So we went. We were shocked 'cause we expected a Berger joint and its so much more. A really nice restaurant. Every plate that went by we wanted!!! We will def go back and try several other things. Meanwhile the burgers were A1. The fries were fabulous. Pretty place and good service. A winner!"
Dined on 7/11/2013
When I was initially seated, I was
left with no offer of a drink or wine list. After grabbing the waiter's attention, he made a great wine recommendation, did the initial pour - that was it. The waiter was knowledgable about the menu, once again, made some great recommendations but we had to flag him down again to get our entree brought out. Overall, it was lovely dinner and I certainly look forward to returning."
