A word from The Boundary Tavern & Grille
Located in the heart of Wicker Park and the Division Street corridor, The Boundary has much to offer. Spacious booths and plenty of tables offer an array of seating options in a cavernous space that features a barrel roof with exposed beams, brick and flagstone walls, and an expansive bar opposite a wall with a fireplace. In warmer weather, two large garage doors open up to let fresh air into the restaurant and a 16 table patio plays host to many patrons all summer long. Plasma TVs let sports fans keep an eye on the score while eating contemporary bar food with a few creative twists. A brunch menu with a make-your-own Bloody Mary and Mimosa bar is a favorite destination on weekends.

The Boundary also features a hefty beer selection of over 100 beers and a long shuffleboard table stretching along the back wall to keep the sportier locals happy.

Late night limited food menu begins at 10pm.

Diner Reviews
  • "Great food. Great service what more could you want and brunch that offers champagne bar(fix it yourself mimosas). AWESOME!!!"

  • "A bit nicer than your typical sports bar. Upscale bar food. I had the chicken salad and it was quite good. Lots of TV's for sports viewing. The staff was friendly."

  • "Honestly not my best experience here, but that's a high bar. I thought it odd that they were blasting the audio for the annual NHL awards in a nearly empty bar. I get that it's mostly a sports bar, but a sports awards show isn't exactly sports. If there's no live sports on, could we have some music instead? Also, I had the nachos this time, which I hadn't had before. I can totally see how somebody else would love them, but I'd been much happier with other menu items I had had in the past. So I think that what I didn't like this time was by no means objectively bad (like if I saw something really gross in my food which I certainly did not), but they've done better."

  • "The Boundary Tavern and Grille has a fun and lively atmosphere. They played the World Cup Soccer game while it was on and then the DJ played a variety of music from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. It was a blast from the past! My girlfriends and I had a great time chatting and catching up--the food and drinks were good. At times the bar was a bit loud and it made talking difficult, but other than that it was great!"

  • "Interesting mix of sports bar and craft beer bar. Lot's of big TVs. A seriously gorgeous patio. The food isn't going to win any Beard awards, but it is certainly well above average for a sports bar."

  • "Two at our table asked for minor changes when ordering. Niether were delivered correctly. The second attempt was even wrong on one order. Left without getting it right. The restaurant comped the dish. Gee thanks!"

  • "the Boundary has a good menu, good service and has a great location on Division. It is a good spot to sit outside and enjoy brunch, lunch or dinner."

  • "this place was just your normal bar food with a little twist. The fish and steak tacos were nothing extraordinary, but good. Wouldn't go out of your way, but if you want a few drinks outside, this is a good spot"

  • "The boundary is amazing! The manager and staff were so accommodating. The food is delicious. It is a great place to grab a beer while you enjoy the beautiful weather on their patio or watch a Blackhawks game! "

  • "Went for Mother's Day and sat out on the patio. We did the bloody mary and mimosa bar which were just ok. I've seen much better bloody mary bars... they claimed it was huge. It was really just a basic selection of veggies, a couple cheese and one sausage. Guacamole was excellent! Fish tacos were ok. It was a Sunday so probably not a good idea to order fish. Buffalo chicken wrap and club sandwich were fairly standard. "

  • "I went to the Boundary on a recommendation to meet a friend for brunch on a Sunday. To be fair, the Blackhawks were playing. BUT IT WAS SO NOISY WE COULD NOT STAY. Every TV in the place (and there are a lot) was on full blast. No way could you have a conversation. This was at NOON. I cannot comment on the food or service as we could not stay. But, I won't be back."

  • "Went to watch the Hawks game, it was great for that. You should be able to see a TV from any seat. Food was good, had steack tacos. The beer selection was nice as well."

  • "...if you go for any sports games, you may break your neck trying to watch the TV's from your seat. The TV are really high on the west side of the bar where we had a table. Standard bar food, but the salads are above average."

  • "It was great to be able to reserve a table for St. Patrick's Day. We ordered a few apps to share for a group of 6 - 3 appetizers was enough to fill us all up. Our server was really busy but still was able to check on us pretty regularly. This is a great place to watch games of any type, especially with a group."

  • "Visited this restaurant on Saturday, March 15 to watch Big 10 basketball. Music, when we arrived, was much too loud to even talk. This may have been because of the St. Patrick's Day celebration going on but was happy to have the music stop during the basketball games. We had a table of 15 people and service was excellent. Food was average. Not sure if I would go back. There are better places to watch sports that have excellent food."

  • "Very nice bar food. Strangely bright tortilla chips, good burgers and wraps."

  • "Very nice place to have a group come out. Clean and spacious. Standard food items, but that's not a bad thing."

  • "We ordered the steak tacos (great), and an extra thimbleful of salsa (charged an extra $.50, what a rip-off), and a new featured item, the German plate with spaetzel (horrid). The meat seemed to be a formed patty, from frozen, with spaetzel, also seemingly frozen, with some kind of bizarre lemon sauce. Yuck. We sent it back, and they apologized and gave us the menu to order again. So, a mixed bag. Some good, some bad. And over $100 lighter in the pocket!"

  • "We really enjoyed the outdoor patio. It was a beautiful night. Food was really good. I had the BBQ chicken sandwich on pretzel bread with tator tots. Yum! Husband had steak tacos and a friend had the chicken wrap. Everyone loved their food. Service was a little slow. However, it was a nice night out so we were okay not being rushed. Inside it looked like plenty of TVs, so this place would be good for sports fans. Also, they have one shuffle board that is free to play."

  • "We loved the food and had a great selection of beer! We wish they served the sangria by the glass instead of just the pitcher!"
    Dined on 7/20/2013
  • "That's a good thing!! I had a delicious "Sunnyside Up Burger." It was complete with bacon, a fried egg, and all the trimmings. Very delicious! My fiance had a wonderful spicy buffalo chicken wrap, which was probably the best wrap I've ever tried. Nice touch on the tater tots too!"

  • "Summer time they roll back the window partitions and bring the outside in on a warm summer evening. The decor is modern, yet warm at the same time.So fun to put in your order, then play for a wee bit on the open-to-all shuffleboard game!"

  • "Always reliable and good food. Casual environment with great outdoor patio. Plenty of seating and TVs for sports viewing. Clean, good and fast service, Mimosa/Bloody Mary bar on the weekends."

  • "Me and my wife went here to see a Bulls game and it exceeded our expectations. Our server was very friendly and the food was great. We went at dinner time during the week and there was plenty of seating and plenty of televisions. The beer draft selection was very good as well. Place was very new and well designed. We'll definitely go back there. Very good place to catch a game."

  • "I lived in Chicago a few years ago and this used to be one of my favorite spots to grab brunch, especially for its Bloody Mary bar. When I returned for a wedding weekend, I met up with 12 friends for brunch. The Bloody Mary Bar was just as I remembered it -- read: perfect! -- but the food was not as great. No worries, it was the perfect ambiance for a group and with all of the TVs, it's a great distraction for kids or sports junkies. Will be back next time in Chicago, for sure."

  • "A good, stable neighborhood "go to". Food is always good and reliable. Upscale bar atmosphere with comfortable seating and the view of a TV from any table. Brunch includes a bloody mary/mimosa bar, there is good outdoor seating, and the crowd is always friendly and casual. My favorite place on Division to grab lunch."

  • "On the plus side, Boundary has a fantastic beer selection and wait staff who are very knowledgeable about it. On the downside, we had a group of 14 and the wait staff dropped one of the trays carrying food to our table; half were done eating when the last people got their food. Stuff like that happens; it would have been nice if the manager had done something to make up for the disaster."
    Dined on 3/2/2013
  • "Been there before great drinks and food. Watched a blackhawks game over lunch with 3 others and had a great time. Waitress was excellent and food was great."

  • "We were disappointed by the Brunch Menu selection. We came to the Boundary during football season and the menu was incredible. Their off-season brunch menu, however, features ONLY savory items - there was not a single sweet breakfast item. I don't understand why they would limit their brunch menu in a city where brunch is what people do, especially given that the brunch items they offered previously were so terrific. And although the Bloody Mary and Mimosa Bar were still there, they really aren't the same unless they are paired with an awesome menu. I would have rather just eaten lunch, omitting the bar and brunch entirely."

  • "When this placed first opened, I really, really liked it. Great place to go with friends and watch a game and have some good grub and drinks. While the bar choices are still pretty good, the food menu has really taken a downturn in the last year or so and more so in the last few months as it appears they dumbed it down yet again. Gone are many of the awesome burgers, pulled pork bbq sandwiches, and other tasty appetizer and menu items. What's left is just very average - both choices and quality. Not sure why but I am sadly disappointed. I don't know if it was coincidence but I was here on a Saturday night and it was DEAD. Very strange. Anyway, it's still an OK place there are much better choices in the area for food."

  • "We had four old hens and one young rooster (my nephew) with us at the Boundary on a Friday night. The old hens got there at 6:30 P.M. The atmosphere was nice and not too loud. By the time we left (around 8:30 P.M.), it was a place that my nephew probably wished he was at without the old hens! The food was good and reasonably priced, the decor was enjoyable, our waitress was very nice, but by the time we left, the noise level was definitely more appealing for a younger crowd. When I told my 30 something niece that we had eaten there, she was real impressed that her elderly aunt was into such a swinging scene. Having said all of that, I did enjoy my experience there."

  • "Lots of kids on this pumpkin carving event night. We enjoyed carving the pumpkins and eating hand made caramel apples. The apple cider hot drinks were tasty."

  • "WOAH! Way too loud! Turn those TVs down so we can hear the waiters at the very least."
    Dined on 9/8/2012
  • "TOO LOUD! Cant hear someone sitting next to you. So-so food. A better bar than restaurant."
    Dined on 8/25/2012
  • "The food here is excellent (I especially like the mac & cheese, which has a tiny bit of surprisingly delicious heat, and the fish tacos) and they have a great beer list and generally good service, but the manager in charge of controlling the volume of the game on tv must have spent too much time at loud concerts in his/her youth because the volume was unnecessarily and ridiculously loud. We had to shout to be heard by the person right next to us, and it was basically impossible to hear someone further away. I'd probably come back for the food and drinks, but only if I could sit outside or if there was no game on (this was pre-season volume so I can only imagine what it's like during games that matter)."
