A word from The Boiler House and Texas Grill & Wine Garden
Boiler House Texas Grill & Wine Garden is a true Texas original. Situated in the historic Pearl Brewery complex on the San Antonio River Walk, this wine-centric restaurant occupies the former “boiler house” which powered the adjacent brewery. The menu focuses on grilled items from local farms and markets, with a focus on “Texas ranch-style” cuisine. These delicacies are paired with extraordinary wines from around the world (all available by the glass, bottle and “to-go”), live music and a casual yet energetic atmosphere. The unique list of wines features pricing based on a “retail” model, and boasts some of the lowest prices in the area.

The restaurant incorporates various private dining areas suitable for private or corporate functions and an expansive outdoor patio area where guests can enjoy dining alfresco. Catering is also available at the restaurant or at a location of your choice.

  • "I really enjoyed the entire meal, didn't realize the menu was a la carte. still amazing, I would definitely go back"

  • "Interesting and fun decor, waitstaff attentive and helpful, good food and wine. Woudl recommend the salmon ceviche, the bone marrow and absolutely the bread pudding. Go and eat, drink, enjoy!"

  • "My wife and I were excited to try this restaurant, when we finally went for a birthday dinner. We left disappointed. Mediocre service - friendly and courteous but taking your silverware between courses but not bringing replacements? And not taking away plates before squeezing the next course onto the table? Notable but nothing to sway our overall opinion. Poorly cooked steaks, however, definitely did. My wife requested hers cooked medium-well. What she received was burned (not seared, but charcoal) on the outside with a red and bloody center. We sent it back and after quite some time (long enough for my food to get cold) hers came back. Completely charred. No color at all, not juicy, just burned to a crisp. Like I said, disappointed."

  • "This is our 4th trip to the Boiler House and it was DELICIOUS! We went with a larger group and go to eat in the Camelot room upstairs on a table fit with a GIANT lazy susan in the middle. We sampled so much of the menu and every single bite was to die for! You absolutely have to start with the cheese board and the white bean and kale dip. Both salads were fantastic, all of the meats super tasty, and desserts heavenly! I recommend this place all the time to out of towners and locals who want to venture out away from the chains and have some delicious food and wine in an amazing atmosphere!"

  • "my only compliant is that they were not prepared...specialty items listed on web site were not ready for hr or so, had to ask for salt and pepper and they were not filled and also empty. asked for their form of ketchup because they said didn't carry were out of. ordered bottle of champagne for mimosas and it was priced higher on bill than on menu. seems like everything we asked for was not ready or were out of and it was at opening of restaurant. Expectations were not met."

  • "The menu read almost a s beautifully as the food looked and tasted... The wine, the service were all top notch... We HIGHLY recommend this place... Some of the best food we've ever had in San Antonio!"

  • "Brunch was amazing! Loved the choices. So many things on the menu it was hard to choose. My daughter and I LOVED the maple bacon ice cream! Would go back again and looking forward to it."

  • "Having been a fan of Max's Wine Dive, I wasn't surprised by the quality of the food. Everything was amazing and the ambiance was just right for a group that loves to try new dishes together. The ability to order multiple sides and use the "lazy Susan" to share is great for a friend feast! No matter the entree you choose be sure to try their zucchini/quinoa side. There wasn't a mediocre dish at the table."

  • "I have been here several time and as my fiance put it, we havent had a single food item or beverage that disappointed. The staff is knowlegable and nice. The portions are perfect for oedering for couple or a large group. Although the bar is beer and only, there are so many choices that you are sure to find something that suites your taste buds."

  • "Excellent wait staff, food was cold, no more live music, this was disappointing. Took 45 min for food to come out and then cold."

  • "The Boiler House has an unusual menu and some interesting items. The pickled vegetable appetizer and hearts of romaine salad were excellent as was the mashed potatoes. However our entries, the filet as well as tenderloin skewers disappointed. The steaks are all quite expensive ($47 at least) and were good but not exceptional. The tenderloin skewer was reasonably priced, but smothered in sauce and uninspiring. We love the Pearl, but there are better places for our money there."

  • "I have lived in San Antonio for 5 years and just found this place. It is now at the top of my list for dining experiences. We had the pork chops and they were the best we have ever had."

  • "The food here is absolutely amazing as usual. The servers are professional and friendly. The only reason I didn't give them the full 5 stars is because we were helped by 4 different people. It's hard to keep track of what the customer ordered when there are so many people coming to help you. Other than that, this place is fantastic, definitely in my top 3 favorites in San Antonio."

  • "While we wished there were more food selections of main dishes, the apetizers and available choices were really good! The Pearl Brewery development is a great place for The Boiler House providing a nice ambiance as it fits right into the theme. I recommended the Bison Burger and the Quail Skewer to a friend and he and His wife went the next day and loved it! Thanks for making me look good!"

  • "We were a table of 6 on a Saturday night, having made reservations for an anniversary dinner. We were promptly seated and our server was quick to tell us the specials and made all the right recommendations for starters. The food that we all ordered was very good, but I did find the Tomohawk Ribeye to be overcooked. I had asked for a medium rare and it came to be medium-well and almost well-done around the edges. The server was very attentive and I would highly rate her service. The restaurant itself, though, while having very nice ambience, was a bit noisy and the bathroom locations left much to be desired. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience but much more pricey that I would have expected."

  • "The food was great, but it was completely overshadowed by our miserable waitress. From the moment she walked over, she had an attitude. We tried to be friendly, as to not add fuel to the fire, but we were continually met with short responses and sour looks. She really ruined the experience! I'd like to think she was having a bad day, but I've ready reviews on other sites that specifically mention her by name."

  • "The wait staff was responsive but not overbearing. The food was excellent. The salmon with asparagus was among the best dishes I've had recently."

  • "Enjoyed our evening. Very neat design and environment. Four of us went with the tapas style dishes and none disappointed. The steaks seemed a little pricey, on par with places like Ruth's Chris, Myron's, etc. However, we didn't try them so can't say if they compare. Nice selection of Texas craft beers and a solid wine list. Knowledgeable server. Little loud, but part of the ambiance, so it wasn't bothersome."

  • "We eat out several times a week and are always on the look out for new experiences. First time here and boy were we blown away by the great service, great tasting food, excellent wines and even better service. Definitely will add this resturant to our must return frequently list. Will bring along friends."

  • "We've been here a handful of times. Nestled among several "foodie" eateries, TBH has heavy competition. However, they stand up to the challenge. Atmosphere is a mix of industrial & rustic. Food here is better than one would assume from the ambiance. I think the steaks at TBH are amongst the best in San Antonio: always perfectly charred on the outside, warm tasty and juicy on the inside. Sides are wonderful and unique, but a bit too small (esp. for the price). Wine list is impressive, with offerings to satisfy every palate and wallet. Staff are prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. If you're unsure about the wines, ask for a sample and they'll gladly pour you a couple. Prices are a bit high, but haven't scared us off. OVERALL: EXCELLENT."

  • "The only positive things to say is that the building is amazing and it's located right across from a really amazing restaurant that caught our attention and looking forward to eating there soon."

  • "I was super excited because I had heard wonderful things about the Sunday Boiler House Brunch. Our experience however, was anything but. As we waited for our party to arrive on time for our eleven o'clock reservation, we watched walk up diners as they were seated in the lovely window tables. When our full party had arrived we were shown to our reserved table, in the back, under the stairs and next to not only the bathroom but the service end of the bar. The server seemed to care less about our table and had to be waived down any time we needed something. Both my husband and I were served cold poached eggs. Then upon the redo our poached eggs were overdone and hard boiled. Benefit of the doubt: maybe the egg poacher called in ill."

  • "We had a great Valentine's Dinner at the Boiler House. We had the pre-fixe Valentines meal and all courses were great. The duck meatballs were fabulous. The dessert special of puff pastry and whipped Nutella and macerated strawberries was great. We look forward to coming back and just having some small plates to try all the different food options. The only have wine and beer, but lots of options."

  • "This was our first bad experience at Boiler House. Loved the bar, but the servers and kitchen were overwhelmed. We waited a long time for our server to approach the table, and when we were finally able to order, the food entree came out before the salad. They gave us complimentary wine while we waited, but it didn't ease the pain! We eat out a lot and are usually pretty forgiving, but this time it was unforgiveable. They should have been prepared for a lot of people."

  • "We had a good time but the food choices are so slim, then when we decided what we wanted they were out of 2 of the main things we had picked. I would just think that with such a limited menu that everything would be kept in large quantities since they were main courses! Food was very over expensive for such small portions."

  • "Took a couple of friends from out of town. Fabulous experience from the time we walked In the door! Great conversation without having to yell. Food was glorious and we had a great time sharing. Wait staff AWESOME! Music (Vocalist with guitar) playing just what we like to hear. Only drawback was a slight odor of cleaning fluid at our table near the kitchen door."

  • "I had an opportunity to try this restaurant in the (relatively) new redeveloped Pearl Brewery shopping/dining area. I was in town for a week-long conference and wanted to get away for a nice dinner with a senior executive. The Boiler House fit the bill perfectly as we could visit and have a nice meal with a good range of choices. I will return next time I'm in town."
