A word from The Boiler House and Texas Grill & Wine Garden
Boiler House Texas Grill & Wine Garden is a true Texas original. Situated in the historic Pearl Brewery complex on the San Antonio River Walk, this wine-centric restaurant occupies the former “boiler house” which powered the adjacent brewery. The menu focuses on grilled items from local farms and markets, with a focus on “Texas ranch-style” cuisine. These delicacies are paired with extraordinary wines from around the world (all available by the glass, bottle and “to-go”), live music and a casual yet energetic atmosphere. The unique list of wines features pricing based on a “retail” model, and boasts some of the lowest prices in the area.

The restaurant incorporates various private dining areas suitable for private or corporate functions and an expansive outdoor patio area where guests can enjoy dining alfresco. Catering is also available at the restaurant or at a location of your choice.

We found the Boiler Room through the San Antonio website. The whole idea of the converted brewery was appealing to us and we were not disappointed. The feel of the place was grown-up which is so hard to find anymore. Our waiter, I think his name was Jerod, was exellent and he really knew his wines. He was so patient with us. We will be back.

Amazing ( and reasonably priced) wine list, outstanding food, and great service! The best dish we had was the bacon wrapped quail. Recommend getting several dishes and sharing (1.5 per person if you are hungry)!

Delish! We started with the spinach salad which was HUGE and fed all three of us perfectly for a starter. We followed that with the bone marrow spread, which came to out table still in the bone (to be honest, this was my least favorite thing of the meal) it was a little weird spooning bone marrow out of the center of a real bone then spreading it on toast. Our table of three steak lovers was feeling adventurous and we ordered the 32Oz. Tomahawk Rib-eye, which comes to the table with a 12" bone coming out the back (Quite a show.) Not only was it fantastic to look at but it was also the most flavorful steak I have had in the city of San Antonio. WOnderful! Try this place! You will not be disapointed!

What a great hot spot for foodies nestled in the heart of the Pearl Brewery. The menu consists of a variety of tapa sized dishes portioned big enough to share with someone. Did not try any of the entrees but the guy sitting next to us ordered the boar and it smelled delicious. Also tried the chile lime kettle corn--addicting! They have live music every night of week. Did not know that they are the same owners of Max's, which explains their fantastic wine list (which was not too over priced). The upstairs seating area looked really cool, dark and intimate but open so if you're looking for a quiet romantic dining experience, this is not the place! It is great for dining with friends, large parties, and people who appreciate good beer!

The Boiler House is still in its learning curve. Excuses for poor kitchen service ( protein dish before salad) etc. were "we are really busy tonight". It was very loud and the hostess could have probably used better care then to seat 4 of what was obviously the "older crowd" right next to the band where it was ridiculously loud. That said the food was very good. And the price for the amount of food and wine was quite reasonable. We will return but not likely on a Saturday night.

Our party of three had three different items from the brunch menu, plus Mimosas and dessert: chocolate cake and s'mores. Entrees were the Pear/Gruyere Strata (light, flavorful, lovely combination of yum with the ping of the greens); french toast (really, almost sinfully wonderful--flavors and textures were sweet/unctious/with a zing of strawberry; and lamb/pork belly, which was hefty, meaty, charred/smokey wonderful. Wish we could have tasted everything. Anya was excellent.

The birthday dinner was wonderful. Our waiter was great with recommendations and we were not disappointed with any of his suggestions. Surprisingly many of the food selections were enough to share with others at our table. That isn't as common at nicer restaurants. Portions were generous. Wonderful experience and great tasting food.

It was loud and dark. Sat at a table by the upstairs elevator and needed a flashlight or the bright light of the tv at the bar to read the menu. A candle on the table would have been nice. The service was very nice and staff was very friendly. I just thought it was going to be a nice restaurant and it was an upscale beer and wine bar. The white bean and grilled bread was completely cold. Seems like the bread should be warm...tasted like it had been made earlier and stuck in the fridge. The pork was fatty with almost no meat, though the shrimp were good. The grilled pineapple pound cake was cold and dried out (shouldn't another grilled item, especially one with ice cream, be warm?) and the s'mores dessert was served with cold chocolate sauce

Great service and delicious food. Beautiful old building with plenty of space. Dinner lighting is a little on the bright side in my opinion and kills the romantic atmosphere that this venue could easily have but the service and selection do makeup for it. Not a place you can eat at often as it is pricy but worth it when you can afford too.

This was my first time at this restaurant, and being a fan of Max's Wine Dive, I knew I would appreciate the menu. The service was exceptional and the waitress (Paz) was very knowledgeable. I have a more adventurous palate than my wife, and was very happy with the grilled romaine salad, grilled pork and the quail. My wife had an outstanding filet mignon that was cooked to perfection and was very flavorful. The live music was great and not too overwhelming. I plan many more visits.

We went with a group of six. We ordered several small plates and steaks. The small plates were all fantastic. The favorites included the brussel sprouts, crispy Kale bread and the quail legs. We reordered those because we could not get enough. Unfortunately the steaks fell way short of pleasing us. The reason was the combination of price and flavor. Had the steaks been $20 instead of $45, we could have overlooked the flaws (like the new york steak strip was maybe an inch thick/super fatty). When we are paying $45-$50 per steak without sides, we expect Flemings or Ruth Chris quality. That is certainly not the case. I would absolutely return and enjoy a bunch of small plates and wine. One more thing- there is only beer and wine

Our party of 2 arrived at 6 pm before the crowd, which quickly gathered, even on a rainy night. Our server was pleasant, knowledgable about the food menu & the wine list, and quietly efficient, keeping our glasses filled and our orders delivered. The toasted bread points and pot of bubbling cheese was a favorite; the fresh spinach salad with smoked bacon, pickled red onions & Gorgonzola balsamic vinaigrette was large enough to feed 3-4; the braised pork belly with pineapple soy glaze was tender and flavorful - not too sweet - and the Serrano avocado relish provided a real kick to the Shrimp bacon brochettes. We left before the live music started; a large private party upstairs caused no disturbances. A lovely evening with great food!

first time visit for lunch; did the small plates thing and overall it paid off with several interesting bites and a few misses. really cool place, but...rest rooms, while outfitted for one's basic needs were as basic as one at the valero down the street and what is this with storing boxes of kitchen supplies (and I mean boxes and boxes) under the stairway in full view? Overall a promising addition to the pearl neighborhood's already vibrant foodie scene; I hope to go the distance with dinner in the near future.

The staff didn't seem to be in a hurry to take our drink order and our food order and luckily we had plenty of time. The time for our food to arrive after our order was also excessive (and one ordered "side" was missed.) The food was great; however. Just before our food arrived, a group of about 8 decided to congregate right next to our 2nd floor table standing in the middle of the narrow aisle between the bar and our table. One customer even put his bar stool in the midd;e of the walkway causing the waiters or other guest to attempt to squeeze through between this group and our table. The final hour of our visit was very uncomfortable. Our waiter assured me that he would tell them to move. This never happened.

Pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent. All was fresh and prepared creatively without being overdone. The fresh vegetables in the salad paired well with the favors in the dressing and dairy. The appetizers were fun and addictive - we really enjoyed the chili lime kettle corn and wild boar meatballs. The main course choices were just as tasty - our table of 5 shared 7 - each one fresh and delicious. The steak was truly a stand out. The desserts were great too - we had the s'mores and an apple something that knocked our socks off. We shared each of these courses family style with amazing wine at great prices (their markup is less than many similarly priced restaurants). All of this and good, live music too!

The food was top drawer. We had the special 6 course NYE pre-fix dinner with the more expensive wine pairing. All of the dishes were deftly balanced and perfectly delicious! The wine pairings were absolutely exciting and extremely well thought out. There was not a single misstep! The only criticism I can muster is that the service while very considerate and professional it was a tad slow at times. Maybe this was due to the fact that the restaurant has just opened. In fact I am sure that was it.

This is a new addition to the Pearl Stables. The service was neglectful and the tapa/family style plates were a bit small and over priced. They did have an extensive wine & beer list. It was quite busy for a Sunday night and we were sat in the bar area. With the live music it was hard to carry on a conversation. We'll give it another try to see if service improves and to sample one of the numerous steak options.

First timer to the restaurant. Creative menu, very knowledgable wait person. Timing on food delivery was slightly off. Food itself was good, no apologies there. Bending Branch Cabernet a real winner. The negative was the noise level. Had there been two more boxes to check above the energetic level, the one marked annoying would have been checked. The restaurant looks wonderful, they did a great job remodeling and decorating. The food was good, though maybe a little overpriced. My biggest complaint was the singer-songwriter doing Jimmy Buffet and Eagles covers at a high volume, which doesn't match the expensive foodie menu. And while I have no big criticisms of the service, it felt a little lackluster or low-energy. It's a lively place, though, and I'm sure it will be very popular. I'd recommend it more for happy hour or late-night dinner with friends rather than a business meeting or romantic meal.

We enjoyed our meal but left confused (and still are) about our bill. When we arrived I mentioned that we had a $20 Open Table coupon. THat was a surprise as they did not know about the coupons. When we were presented with our bill, we questioned it. Our waiter apologized and said the $20 coupon had not been applied. When our bill was returned "corrected" it was still $20 more than we thought we had spent (exactly what we would have spent without the coupon) and after reviewing what we ordered at home, it still is. Whether it was confusion over the coupon or a "special" wine deal that we purchased (it was a competition for waiters), we do believe that we did over pay. The wine and beer selection is very good. Several options by the glass or bottle. The food seems like a work in progress. The bison tartare is outstanding but the charcuterie plate could be better. The market sides are nice. We tried two desserts and by far the pear crumble was the best. Will surely go back and try other things.
