  • "Had a reservation for 7:30. We were seated immediately, service was very good and dinner was good. I had their beet salad that was outstanding!"

  • "I won't go back. The location and tasty food can't compensate for the completely unacceptable experience I had. The large parking lot (shared by many businesses) was full. There was no valet. Street parking was full. After several trips in and around the lot and down the side streets, I finally dropped off my guest, drove to the NEXT TOWN, parked on the street there, and walked/ran back. I needn't have hurried - we still had to wait 30 minutes after I arrived for our "reservation." My wine glass smelled like chlorine bleach. The 8:00 music hadn't started by 8:30 and showed no signs of starting when I left at 8:40 - which was as soon as I could pay the bill. The bill was too expensive for the portion sizes we received."

  • "The restaurant has a great view of the Naples Canal , great location, the food is good but the service can be improved . We are not in a hurry that night but the service is a little bit slow , our server is also assigned to a big party uptairs ( so she is doing double tables) not a great idea, we have waited a little longer for our appetizer and the main course. My seared ahi tuna is fresh and the halibut that my spouse ordered is delicious, over-all a good seafood restaurant, will consider going back again ( we are so full we did not order dessert)"

  • "excellent food. it does get too noisy to visit when the live music starts. the bar scene looked fun when the music began, and I would come back at another time for the music."

  • "The view is gorgeous from the outdoor patio area. I could have done without the music but it wasn't awful. I ordered halibut which was grilled. I had asked to substitute the mashed potatoes for the brussel sprouts with pesto. I got the sprouts but no pesto. The waitress was very friendly and vivacious, just some longer periods between checking in on me to see if I needed anything; water wasn't refilled."

  • "We enjoy the sushi but salad options could be better."

  • "I took my boyfriend there for his first time; he had one of the steaks. He absolutely loved it and I loved my barbecue chicken salad! Totally worth the money. Our waitress looked at us multiple times as if she didn't understand our orders and made us a little confused; toward the end she became more attentive to our needs however, I would suggest she not act like that. Also, more beers at this restaurant, we only had one choice!!!!! What is that?! And the music in the back is so freaking loud! All in all, it was a fabulous experience and we will be back!!!"

  • "Location A+. We don't mind paying $30+/meal... But staff needs to be trained to that level. Water needs to be filled, plates from one course to another need to be removed so the next plates can fit at the table, staff appropriately (more wait staff/ table count - ours had 10+ tables) tables get drinks before :15 pass, new cutlery between courses (I.e. Pizette and short ribs for apps, means new forks and knives for fish dish). The food was average. So again, don't mind paying hi price for avg food IF...service is good. Which it is not. Train them. Pay them. Your dining room was only at 20% cap on a Friday night. Spend some money to make some money. Please."

  • "My husband and I went to dinner for our 21st anniversary. He opted for the halibut which he said was tasty. Unfortunately, I chose the filet and lobster. Both were extremely bland. We are accustomed to fine dining and the Market Price on my choice was not a deterrent. However, the $85 price tag on it was outrageous considering the subpar quality of the dish. I've had much better at much more refined restaurants for a lesser price. The ambience is outdated. Nobody even greeted us a Happy Anniversary; past experiences at other venues were staff making a point to make our celebration special. Besides the view, nothing was enjoyable. We won't be back."

  • "Food & service were excellent! Music was very loud, and they kindly turned it down for us. We had: sushi, scallops w wild mushrooms & gnocchi, and macadamia-crusted fish on farro, beets & kale. Delicious cocktails too! Lovely to walk near the water after dinner. Can't say enough good things about this place."

  • "Great place. Would definitely go back and would recommend going to friends and family who are looking for a place with great food, great environment, and great scenery."

  • "Our waiter Bert was great. Drinks were good. Calamari was greasy and undercooked. Three different entrees of seafood poorly seasoned. The meals were ho-hum and way over-priced. Would try again after a time, but would not suggest anyone go there for food until they get a good chef."

  • "Food and service great! The Brussel sprouts and the flatbread pizza with fig jam are outstanding. Wide variety menu including a variety of sushi rolls. Sashimi very fresh. Looking forward to our next visit!"

  • "Ambiance was great for dinner, and the bar was very alive with a great live band, which we danced to après dining."

  • "The food was delicious and the service great! My only complaint is that we had a gift card from McKenna's that was given to us shortly before they closed, and Boathouse would not honer it."

  • "We weren't overly impressed ... personally, I think this placed is priced for the scenic view. Although their bar area was very busy (probably because it was sitting in the marina and the first stop off the boat), their mixed drinks were AWFUL!! I sent my drink back twice and the waiter returned with something worse than what I sent back ... stick with the wine, it's hard to screw that up! Most of the food was average at best but the fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. The ambiance included a beautiful ocean sunset view but I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon ... there were other restaurants nearby that included the same ambiance and view but with better food and drinks. Sorry, but for the price, I just wasn't worth it!"

  • "I would highly recommend this restaurant! This an excellent choice for business lunches and just a get together with friends! The ambience is so relaxing and the staff is very friendly! Love this restaurant and always have my clients meet me here! The environment adds to the opportunity for rich dialog on a personal or business platform! Love it!"

  • "Spent a very relaxing lunch just sitting outside, enjoying the nice breeze and watching the boats pass by on the newly expanded deck area. The sushi here is consistently great...fresh and flavorful."

  • "It was just a mediocre experience. The service was slow and the food so so.Calamari was overcooked, but the brussell sprouts were delicious. Took a long time for a server to come to greet us, and bring us menus. Then after delivery of drinks, he asked if we wanted a glass for our beers. We said yes, and then didn't see him for quite a while. By the time he came back, we had already finished half our beers. Other restaurant choices available so would choose those first before going back."

  • "One of the best water view restaurants in Long Beach. Great service, friendly vibe, but the food is just average. It's not BAD, but it IS pricey and I want it to be so much better because I love the setting so much! In the middle of summer, my fish entree had sage and butternut squash! They could definitely "seasonalize" the menu a bit better."

  • "Lobster fettuccine was just OK, but the recommended Chilean Sea Bass was THE very best EVER... melt in your mouth, buttery, very light glaze -- just delicious. Pomegranate champagne cocktail was surprisingly robust, didn't even need wine with dinner. Anniversary dessert was complimentary. Spectacular sunset on the water an added bonus. All-in-all a lovely evening."

  • "Spectacular views of Alamitos Bay Marina! I've been several times last month and this month and every service experience has been stellar. Food is quite tasty too. I would, however, like to see a little more variety in their salads as well as some vegetarian offerings. Grrreat place! We will return."

  • "Great place to enjoy a meal, but the bill added up quickly. Party of 2 with 2 average glasses of wine and dinner (without soup or salad to start) was $111 before tip. $12 for a serving of asparagus is high (just enough for 1 person). You definitely pay for the waterfront location. Server was attentive and though fairly new, was able to explain history of the restaurant, which recently wen brought a change."

  • "We visited The Boathouse on July 4th, to celebrate my son's birthday as well as catch the fireworks out the window in the harbor. We were seated by a window, without having to request it. The service was outstanding and the food was phenomenal. Starting with the freshly baked, warm sourdough bread (it was even better than I've had in San Francisco). I ordered the Sesame Crusted Ahi, and it was fabulous. My son had the Halibut and that was even better. My daughters ordered scallops, which I don't eat, but they loved them. My husband ordered the Rosemary Chicken, and it too was fantastic. Unfortunately, my choice for dessert was the Flourless Chocolate Cake. It was not nearly as dense as I would have liked, but my kids devoured it."

  • "We love coming here and great that they have now expanded the patio area to provide almost 2x more seating outdoors. The menu has remained the same even with the new owners. The only complaint is that service is very spotty. There also appears to be a great deal of turnover with staff. I think their hiring criteria is if you are blonde, you get the job regardless of experience."

  • "Had a business dinner at The Boathouse. It was excellent. The food was great, particularly liked the Hawaiian Ahi Poke appetizer (big enough for a meal). The wine list was great and half-off because it was Wines-day Wednesday. Service was excellent. Attentive and not intrusive. There was a great crowd out on the patio overlooking the bay and the sailboats returning from the Wet Wednesday races. Live music out there permeated but didn't overpower the dining room. I'll definitely be back, and probably on the patio next time!"

  • "We four women get together for lunch every year or so to reconnect. This place was perfect! We all ordered the fish tacos, and the were very good. I had the impression whatever I ordered would be tasty...I'm sorry we weren't more diversified in our selections! The service was very good- one of our group eats gluten-free, and our server was so helpful in checking with the chef about various dishes. When we asked if the music volume could be lowered, they said yes, and took care if it right away! Very friendly, very clean. Spacious tables. Lovely views."

  • "Appetizers of smoked fish w/cheese & toast and the brussels sprouts (too many for a serving) were quite good. Halibut & sea bass were perfectly cooked. The restaurant really falls down in the service department. Not that they weren't nice people but they were a bit clueless how to serve fine dining, which is what the prices suggest this experience should be. The location is lovely (on the water with views of the channel) but has been several other restaurants that didn't make it. Not too much has been changed under current ownership, except striving for a fine dining experience. Work harder, guys."

  • "7pm reservation, restaurant completely overbooked, receptionists overwhelmed and so not helpful. After speaking with the manager, and being forced to throw a fit, finally got seated at 8pm. Everything was great from that point on…food, service etc. Too bad we had to throw a fit in order to get seated for our very special event…."

  • "While the food is outstanding, it was near impossible to enjoy it with a company of six because conversation is near impossible due to the noise level. There's a bit of a "tri"chotomy at Boathouse between high prices, fine dining and bar atmosphere. For such prices and cuisine, I expected to be able to hear the people I sat with. I regret having spent over $400 for this meal because the noise level cancelled out the enjoyment of it. I would only return if I were heading to the bar for the "energy". Fine dining menu in a bar environment results in disappointment."

  • "food and service was great but the party direcvtly behind us was incredibly rude and noisy and swearing so much that it was difficult to relax and enjoy the meal. The owner came by several times and spoke to them but it didnts do much good."

  • "We enjoyed our meal. The service was outstanding. The bread loaf was to die for. Only criticism....for the price the sea bass was a very small portion."
