The Boathouse at Rocketts LandingAmazing Mother's Day BrunchWe love The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing for any occasion because the food and service are always excellent, and it has the absolute best view in Richmond. Now we have found that their Mother's Day brunch is also exceptional. Not the ordinary overcooked, dry assortment of ho-hum food you find at many buffets, this one was prepared with great care and expertise. Crab cakes full of crabmeat, delicious shrimp and grits, smoked salmon, roast beef, chicken...everything was excellent. Complimented by wonderful mimosas and chocolate cake for dessert, the meal was worth every penny (except to spend a few bucks on this one).

The restaurant staff could not have been more accommodating. We had a great table and attentive service, plus some small kindnesses that made the evening memorable. We've eaten here several times before and knew the food would be wonderful, but the extra service was what made the most lasting impression. Pros: Beautiful scenery overlooking the James river, great service, excellent food, very romantic location for outdoor dining, extensive wine selection
Cons: Parking was scarce, the lots were far away and valet service is $7, food was a little pricey and limited to mostly seafood items, but worth it for the ambience, seemed very noisy indoors, so if you are looking for a quiet romantic experience outdoors is the best option

Of note, this location was much better than the Sunday Park location (which we tried a couple of days later).

For a busy day the restaurant was very organized and got us seated readily. Our waiter, Alex, was nicely attentive and was cute with the kids. The food selection was good and plentiful but I thought the quality wasn't as good as it could be (bacon was a pile of crumbled pieces, the eggs benedict muffins were soggy and fell apart, and the dessert selection was lacking, etc.)But the food dishes were consistently replenished and I realize that buffets present their own challenges.
