  • "Excellent food, and service. The buffet had everything on it!! If you went away hungry, it was your own fault. Smoked salmon was out of this world, as was the waffles. It was ALL fantastic. I know the restaurant was super busy, but the staff never looked frazzled. It was a very calm and relaxing atmosphere!"

  • "Boathouse was a great place to have Easter Brunch. Buffet spread was awesome. Had just about anything you could want. Stayed for two hours. It was a very relaxing environment with an exceptional view of the James River. Great place to go for a special event. "

  • "The food and service was very good. Our reservations were for 6:00 pm -- the noise from the bar was overwhelming -- at 7:00 pm things had settled down. Would suggest dining at 7:00 pm or later. We have already recommended the Boathouse to friends and we are looking forward to dining there again."

  • "The FOOD was GREAT on Easter, however I was very disappointed at the décor. Our table only had roll ups on it. No flowers on the table, and the buffet was not pretty. "

  • "Had guests in from out of town and they were not disappointed. Drinks were probably a bit overpriced, but the brunch buffet was delicious and varied - something for everyone."

  • "The location is lovely. I'm a regular for dinner there but have not done Easter Brunch in a few years...This year they opened both floors for reservations. The brunch food was lovely and well done. The staff kept it well stocked. Though the wait staff seemed way too overwhelmed. They could have used a few more people tending to coffee, gathering plates and tending the various tables. But they were very accommodating. "

  • "One of our favorite restaurants. Love the food, service and view. Refined casual appropriate. "

  • "Made reservations weeks in advance of Easter. Upon arrival I checked into two hostesses neither of which said that there were assigned tables. After going up stairs we were told to go down stairs and not greeted. So I had to flag down a waiter. He was a great help and so was the other gentleman who helped us get a table. Our Waiter and food was also good. The atmosphere on the second level was not what I expected. I specifically made reservations at the boathouse for my out of town guests for the open atmosphere. Not the second floor. If during one of the two phone calls prior to Easter brunch this was communicated I would've responded with my expectations. For the steep price of this brunch I was not impressed. "

  • "We chose the The Boathouse for Easter brunch because our daughter is a student at VCU and could not come home for Easter dinner. We live in Virginia Beach with one son in Newport News. The food was delicious and the setting was lovely. Living at the Beach, that says a lot. The mini crab cakes and shrimp were a huge hit. My daughter and I loved the kale salad. Thank you very much for offering eggs benedict. My sons swooned over the cheesecake. No one left hungry or disappointed. The only recommendation that I could make would be to offer sweet tea."

  • "We had a great time. Food was better than last year. Our waiter, Alex, was delightful and attentive. We had two young girls with us in a party of 8 and he handled everyone very well. Easter at the Boathouse is becoming a tradition."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our anniversary with dinner at the Boathouse Rocketts Landing. Everything was perfect. From the table location, to the bottle of Champagne on the table when we arrived the experience was stellar. Our server was cordial and inviting. Greg was at tentative without without being too intrusive to our evening. The food was fantastic. All in all it was one a our best dining experiences."

  • "The pizzalo for dessert needs to be adjusted. It was soupy and had to send it back twice. However, everything else was great! "

  • "I am not a Richmond residence, but I have heard great things. I decide my girlfriend and I needed a nice getaway and treat. We decides to go to the boat house and it was the best meal and restaurant we have been to in Richmond. Very prompt service great good and great wait staff. All around amazing experience! "

  • "What a great spot for a weeknight dinner meet-up with the ladies! The menu was varied - in both cuisine and price - and we all found just what we were looking for. On Wednesdays, they offer several wines at half-price by the bottle - a great deal! This is an ideal spot for happy hour drinks and apps, or for dinner. Although the sun was in my eyes (even with the shades partially pulled), the experience was pleasant. It was too cold to sit outside, but all of the windows meant the exceptional view of the river was still available. The crowd was lively, but the noise level was acceptable. Our server was friendly and courteous - and very prompt! I'll definitely be back soon."

  • "...this place would be empty were it not for view/location/decor. Third time for us and food is still extremely mediocre. Menus is uninteresting vs. the fabulous out restaurant options in Richmond. Not that busy on a Monday night, hot entrees still arrived lukewarm. HELLLLO....you desperately need a new chef!!"

  • "The location can't be beat right on the James River. We ate outside and the food and wine were a great complement to the overall experience. All of the staff - the manager who helped us relocate to a better table, the polite and helpful bus boy and the very friendly and accommodating hostess and waitress - were fabulous!!!"

  • "Nice restaurant but for brunch getting an omelette made was very slow, with only two burners going at one time. Also the buttr container was empty, so nothing to put on the biscuits."

  • "The view of the river was nice. The server fine. The food was excellent. I only have one small complaint and that was that there were no substitutions. I wanted a side salad instead of a vegetable and they could not do that. I would go back. the prices were reasonable."

  • "Very reasonable at brunch. Perhaps it's the drink costs. Fabulous views on deck of downtown and the river."

  • "This was another visit to The Boathouse and it was as good as I remembered. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. It was a great place for brunch and the perfect place for a leisurely catchup with friends. Service was courteous and prompt AND they had crème Brule for dessert ! I'll be back..."

  • "We based our brunch choice on reviews from several sources and I am perplexed over all the high reviews this restaurant receives. Our food was not hot, the Eggs Benedict were hard cooked, served on a dried out biscuit, the Steak & Eggs were smothered in deep, thick gravy. The crab in the Crab Eggs Benedict was tough/stringy served on a dried biscuit . We were seated at the end by the bar which is right next to the door that leads out to the patio. It was a typical spring day with temperatures in the mid 50's. We froze, as the door was being continuously opened and closed. Bloody Mary's were good and our server was pleasant, but I will not be going back. Would not recommend it for a meal, but it would be a nice place for a drink."

  • "It was a real treat. The calamari was the best I have ever eaten... ever! All the food was perfectly prepared and served in a reasonable amount of time after ordering. Our waiter Gregg was fantastic, offering suggestions from drinks, to wine, to the right pairings between the two. He was attentive without being intrusive. This would be a great place for a group gathering. It's a bit loud but fun. We will definitely be back and be sharing our experience with our friends."

  • "We have been here before but with open table were able to sit on the patio for the first time. Our waitress was very nice and stop in on our dinner at the perfect time to offer us anything else we might need, not to much or too little it was won derf. Our food was great the lobster was cooked perfectly. We would highly recommend anyone having a nite like this."

  • "I took 3 of my coworkers out to dinner here while I was in town. All of our food was perfectly cooked. The chef even agreed to grill us some oysters :) Fabulous place, with amazing food and a fun atmosphere! Will be back!!"

  • "While having the potential to get a bit 'rumbly' with background noise the rest of the experience will quickly take your mind off of that on onto the truly fabulous experience this restaurant provides. The attention from the server, Gregg, his knowledge of the wine and menu took the mystery out of making our choices. The food was brought to us hot and well presented, in part it seems to a team approach to the service as we did not have to wait for our server to finish is duties at another table before another 'team member' brought us our dinner. The suggestions of our server proved to be spot on and everything was fresh and delicious. Of course the views were spectacular. I will return and will continue to recommend this special spot."

  • "Me and close friend took a chance and found a restaurant while out of town. To our surprise, The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing was exceptional. From the food, to the ambiance to the service--The Boathouse exceeded our expectations. Both the tuna appetizer and tuna entree were prepared to perfection. In addition, my friend's broil seafood was phenomenal! We will definitely return and soon."

  • "We were a party of six and were lucky to get a table by the window to see the James. I love the spacing between tables and such you are not on top of one another. One thing I really dislike about most restaurants is you have to scream to have a conversation. As the restaurant was full the noise level was Ok for the most part however towards the end of the night it was getting a little louder. Over all a nice experience."

  • "Friday evening March 28 was my third visit to The Boathouse at Rockett's Landing. My son was here from San Diego for the Monument Ave. 10K race on Sat March 29. We ordered a seafood apetizer that was truly outstanding - lobster, oyster, muscles and shrimp! We are both from New England originally and finding a place in Richmond, VA that serves good seafood is sometimes a challenge. We enjoyed the food, the drinks and the atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyable experience!"

  • "This was my first experience at the Boathouse, and let's just say it was an experience that I will never forget. I enjoyed my food, the scenic view, and the service. The front desk hosts and servers worked diligently to bring every idea that I had to life. I appreciated that so much."

  • "We were celebrating two birthdays and had requested seating near the fire place. Not only did we not get seating near the fireplace, we were placed in the least scenic part of the restaurant (the center booth area). The best part of the Boathouse is the view of the river and we couldn't really see anything. There appeared to be spaces near the window but they chose to sit us in the middle. It was the first time there for some of our party and we had said great things about the place but on this particular visit we were proven wrong. We had brunch and the omelette was just ok. All in all, an average experience."
