We've gone to the boathouse many times, usually in White Rock. This time it was my daughter's 21 st birthday so a group of 10 of us decided to go into Vancouver and try out the Kits Beach location in Vancouver. A couple of negatives were: salmon was dry and had to be returned and my cream for coffee Was off and was curdled in my coffee when I added it, tables weren't cleared off fast enough around us, I wasn't asked for a coffee refill. Some positives were: they took the salmon off the bill as well as the appies we had. Server was polite and apologetic - manager came over as well. Also they didn't add the mandatory tip for parties over 7 which as appreciated.

The food at the Boathouse was excellent and the view across English Bay is beautiful. Watching the sun set was beautiful. The menu is great, especially if you love seafood. I had the seafood pasta which was excellent. Very kid friendly with booster seats, a good kids' menu and crayons but at the same time it was vibrant and romantic. The only negative was that the service was slow and our server was a bit disorganized. All-in-all it was a good dining experience.

The view was awesome. But the tables were too close together to the point where it's hard for my 3 year old to even get to her window seat or was it because of obnoxious people sitting around us? Food was good, but not much has changed since my last visit a couple of years ago. Service was okay...our waiter never came by to ask if we needed some fresh ground pepper but she did ask the table next to us.

Unfortunately the sun beaming in looks great but is intolerable. There should be blinds - everyone was suffereing with sun glasses on (not great for dinner conversation). Food was OK and service friendly but a bit muddled. Not sure I'd go back.

I made a window reservation last Sunday to entertain company of 3 from Toronto. But, we were put at the corner where you can't see anything, close to the washroom. I left the restaurant at Kits with disappointments, I would like to show my visitors how lovely it is to see the sunset at this restaurant, but it never happened. The service was poor and got our meal an hour later plus it was almost cold. Our waitress won't even smile, could be from exhaustion. I will never come back anymore at this restaurant.

I was having my birthday dinner with my family on September 6th booked for 5 at 7:45pm. After the waitress took our order, I chatted with my mom and aunt for about 30 mins, no one gets us any bread, so I went up to ask our waitress if we can get any bread first since my mom is really hungry, the waitress told me the bread just went out while we actually saw other tables came after us got breads, and the waitress didn't not give any explanation to my mom. Finally our food came up, my aunt's noold was forgotten to be put salt, however, our waitress didn't come to ask us how the food is done or anything until we ask for the bill, and there was no bread still! Bad service ever!

Had a birthday dinner with spouse and son. My spouse and I ordered sirloin and lobster and our son the noodle and cheese. Server got our orders wrong, brought king crab legs and sirloin. My sirloin ordered medium well, was hard and well done; I have had it at other places that I thought were not at the same level as Boathouse and have had more tender steaks ordered in the same way. BTW, our server was apologetic. Our son's noodles (pasta) and cheese was too salty and cold. What a disappointment as we have always enjoyed our meals whenever we go to the boathouse.

Wonderful location and view. Waited just 5 minutes for a window patio table, so never even had a chance to order a drink in the lounge while we waited. Table was extraordinary, waiter was attentive, and made a nice wine recommendation. We watched the sun set over English Bay while we all enjoyed great meals. Most memorable was the Miso Crusted Halibut.....fresh and delicious.

We enjoyed a window table and witnessed a stunning sunset, thankfully, because food was average, service was slow, and empty cocktail glasses were never removed the entire meal - even when glasses of wine were ordered (which we had to request, long after cocktails were finished, there was never an offer). When I asked the server to recommend a "big, smooth red wine" she replied: "all our wines by the glass are 6 ozs.". Oh boy. 3 of 4 meals arrived just lukewarm, although accompanying vegetables cooked to perfection.

Our server was not very good. She did not quality check our appy or main meals, did not offer another drink when taking our dinner order or clearing plates. She was too busy standing over by the kitchen chatting with 2 other servers to pay any attention to us I usually have the king crab dinner when we go. This time is was as if they put the crab on the grill. It tasted burnt and was almost as if they buttered the outside of the shell making it super greasy to get into. I have never had such a bad King Crab dinner. I would have brought it to our servers attention but getting her attention was a lost cause. When you spend $175 on dinner for 2 I expect decent service.

The boathouses view is nothing short of breathtaking. Overlooking Vancouver's english bay, my father and i enjoyed a wonderful meal cooked perfectly and priced right. We have special dietary needs and the waitress as well as the kitchen staff were more than willing to accomodate; they were happy to. With a great selection of seafood, steaks, and wines, there is something for everybody to be found at The Boathouse. This one was an easy 5 stars.

It's a great restaurant for a special occasion, but for the views and ambiance as opposed to the food. The food is well prepared and it's good, but it's not good value proportionate to the high price point. The service was adequate, but only passable. For the price you pay you'd expect decent service.

The good news is that the restaurant has an amazing view of the sunset . The bad news is the restaurant has an amazing view of the sunset. The sun blares intensely into your face not allowing you to sit back and relax; there are no window shades to help deflect the blazing sun. Many at our table were so uncomfortable that we asked to be moved and even after the move one side of the table could not see across to their friends as the sun was directly shining in their eyes. The restaurant works hard to provide a wonderful dining experience . They need to pay attention to this annoying fact with some creative problem solving.

While the food and service were excellent, the sun beating down on us even on the 2nd row of tables was NOT a pleasant experience. Both of us were extremely uncomfortable, wine became warm as there was no place for it out of the sun and we didn't even consider staying for dessert. We requested a table in the shade vs the sun. If I return at that time of day I would request a table at the back or dine elsewhere.

When the Boathouse opened it was a big disappointment at the Watermark closed, which was really excellent food-wise. Because I live within a block and the views are great, from time-to-time I have eaten at the Boathouse for convenience. I feel it has improved in its standard of food quite a lot from those early days, but still could do with some improvements to bring the standard of the food to the level which compliments the amazing view ... it certainly isn't gourmet and discerning diners might still be a little disappointed! I think the menu is too large! The staff are generally very friendly and helpful, sometimes could be a little more attentive. I will continue at this point to visit the Boathouse looking for a higher standard.

I have never had such a bad meal. We ordered Margaritas; they were almost undrinkable because they were so bitter. We then had a hot crab dip which was OK. I had cod and chips. The fish was OK the chips were cold and soggy. My wife had a salmon burger which was almost raw and cold. We were told that they always served it "medium rare" but this was not "medium rare" but rare. The only bright spot was thayt the waitress was excellent; cheerful and attentive.

Outside deck in nice weather is a superb view. The fluorescent light shining from the attached lifeguard tower at dusk spoiled the ambiance. Waitstaff were very friendly, but totally untrained and confused. Servers walking from table to table asked if the food, now cold, belonged to them. Some cases they put food down at the wrong table, then picked it up and served it to another table. Several groups came, sat, and finally left without even ordering. The PIC in the red checkered shirt, seemed afraid to actually stop and to ask @ their experience. Our food was average: cold halibut & undercooked wild rice. Had to request bread. I finally had to chase down my waiter, 10 minutes after I gave him my credit card, so I could check out and leave.
