Just had dinner there and it was awesome! Make sure to get the egg polenta and truffle appetizer with a glass of champagne and order the venison, it's out of this world! For any wine questions be sure to ask the very knowledgeable staff!

Went here for my parent's wedding anniversary and they gave our group a glass of free champgane to toast, this was a very nice touch. Food was great and we all got different plates to try each other's food. Scallops were amazing. Will definitely go there again!

The food was exceptionally good. Service was slow - our first course didn't come until half an hour after we ordered and there was also a long delay between courses. I don't like to be rushed, but this was too slow. The waiter apologized and brought us two sides for the table. They also brought us each a half glass of a different pinot noir than the one we ordered to try. I thought it was a good way to makeup for the slow service. My husband thought the venison was among the best he's had and my vegetarian pasta was delicious.

There was a little communication issue between our waiter and the Kitchen regarding our appetizers so it took a little longer than anticipated. The waiter noticed and let the manager know. The manger brought the appetizers to us personally, apologized, brought another appetizer and comp'ed them all. What a great reaction to a small slip up. Food was spectacular and we would go back in a heartbeat. Well done, well done.

The location is great, the restaurant layout is definitely eclectic. You take an elevator to the main dining room on the 3rd floor. Decor is very chic and modern. Menu is solid with some really interesting choices. Nice wine list. Service was very good and attentive. Definitely a place that you will want to come back to.

"Congratulations" are in order because both Ms. Singh and our city can boast an instant classic. I love nose to tail; house cured charcuterie and exotic small plate dining as much as anyone but it is so reassuring to see that meticulous yet comfortable fine dining isn't far away. My dinner was a delicious beet salad and perfectly prepared lamb chops and everyone at our table were pleased with their dishes as well (which was nice since half of us were celebrating birthdays). I was most impressed, however; with the jaw-dropping decor and the attentive (but not smothering) service. The wine list, of course, is spot on and the Malbec and Sancere at our table were perfect matches for our meals. A Bib Gourmand (at least) is not too far away.

Food, wine and cocktails were all good. The wait time between ordering, wine service, appetizers and dinner were unacceptable with no explanation given and no consideration given by the server. We were also sat at a wobbly table and given unpolished silverware. If one or two of these things happen during a dining experience it is certainly forgivable, but having all that add up makes the whole the night not worth the money.

Quality and creativity of food has declined significantly with new chef. Is sad. No longer on our top ten or even top fifteen. Prices have not go down along with the cost. $175 for 2 last week. $178 on our previous visit.

Okay, fantastic ambience. Beautiful place. The food is good, but for the price you expect it to be fantastic. And for someone who hosted a TV show touting that great food and drink can be had in the city without having to give up your first born, the approach to the wine list here is the exact opposite. We asked for a "bold" red and were recommended a $300 bottle of wine. When we told her that was beyond our price point, the cheapest she went was $150. You should be able to get a decent bottle for under $100! Once you hit $200 or $300 you are usually paying for the psychological experience of drinking a pricey wine. So we got a $65 bottle of Malbec and it was - okay. Okay? Apparently the Boarding House is only for the very rich. Too bad.

Took a well worn, and oddly lit elevator to the third floor dining room. Two-story windows facing the city to the East. Tightly packed tables, and very loud. Hard to have a dinner conversation. Loved the sturgeon on a bed of lentil pilaf, with smokey tones.

Entrees are solid but I really enjoyed the small plates here....try the burrata and the olenta fries with egg - both are stunners! As you would expect servers here are excellent assisting with wine selection and that really helped make the meal. Dessert, especially the fruit cobbler is worth it.

Went to The Boarding House on a Friday night, and it was a really good. The decor is great. The ceiling is interesting, just a really good feel to the place. I really liked the menu and sometimes as restaurants get more high end the menu suffers as they are trying too hard. But there were several items I would have liked to have tried. I had the bone in pork chop which was really good. I would get it again. The guy at the table next to me got it as well, and he joked just ask for it warm, because his came a little cool. Our waitress didn't find it funny, but my food came out fairly cool as well. Still really good, I would absolutely recommend this place. I will definitely be going back.

Food was great. The octopus was tender and flavorful, and the venison was perfectly prepared. The tagliatelle was properly al dente with a light sauce. Service was generally good, although plates were cleared while some members of our party were still eating, and we had to ask for utensils at times. Oddly, the wine service again had problems. Our first and second choices were unavailable, although they weren't especially rare or boutique wines. I also noticed that some of the better selections from previous lists had been dropped from the current wine list. These are not good signs, especially in a wine-focused restaurant. It's not right to charge a $50 corkage fee if the wines offered on the wine list can't be delivered.

I really loved the ambient although I was on my own for a business trip. I had dinner at the bar room, the architecture and the chandelier made of wine glasses really stands out. Good music in the background. The menu is quite fine with a good selection. I really enjoyed kinoa with lentils, crudo of tuna and the sturgeon. Maybe the main course took a little long to come out but the waitress really treated me very well and made a very good work to make me feel comfortable. The price is acceptable, we are downtown Chicago the competition is high but this restaurant really deserves a visit and when I will be back in the City this is one of the places on my list to visit again.

I took my wife here for our anniversary as she is a foodie. The server was a bit quiet and not attentive with food and wine recommendations. We had to wait a few minutes for her to come and could barely hear her. The place was quite loud and full of conversation. I think it would be great to go with a group but not so much for a romantic dinner for two. We started out with the Merquez stuffed Calamari which was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. I ordered the salmon with fergola (sort of like Farro) which was fantastic. The wine, a savignoun (sp?) blanc, was disappointing but it was the cheapest on the menu ($40). Overall the food was great but i think there are better places.

The Boarding House salad was delicious and it was followed by their Seared Sturgeon dish prepared with artichokes, lentils and bacon and the Salmon dish prepared with honey glazed carrot and swiss chard. Everything was good but not spectacular. The entrees we ordered were significantly better than the the polenta fries and octopus appetizers we ordered. My boyfriend ordered the venison loin and said it was one of the BEST cuts of meat he has ever had. I had the salmon and it was very good. Service was ok. She didn't check in very often. We also ordered the carrot cake. Again, good, not great.
