A word from The Blue Star
The Blue Star is a sleek, sophisticated restaurant offering an escape from the norm. The Blue Star offers two different dining rooms for two different dining experiences. Each room has its own menu. Menus change frequently based on fresh local product availability and guest feedback. The lounge offers a more social scene and first come/first served seating. There is hip music playing overhead, the bar is inside the room, and there are tall round tables for cocktailing. The dining room is much quieter and is surrounded by sophisticated decor, wood floors, white table cloths and an open kitchen. We are known for our extensive wine list, and offer 1/2 off bottles of wine on Sunday nights. The private Wine Cellar is not available for online booking, but give us a shout for details. No outside food or beverage but we'd be happy to create your custom cakes.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We were a party of 7 and had similar experiences. The food is pricey and while you won't walk away hungry you won't be taking home a doggie bag. Overall each meal was too salty."

  • "The Blue Star always has ambitious menu items that deliver. Their 50% bottles of wine on Sundays is a great deal as well. The service is always attentive but not overbearing and I look forward to every visit."

  • "A group of eight went on Saturday evening. We ordered three bottles of St Emillion wine. Very nice. All commented on how good the food was and that it was plated very well. I ordered the lamb medallions and it was delicious. Would recommend this restaurant and would also go back. I also thought it was moderatly priced and a good value."

  • "Blue Star was in the reasonably price restaurants search results in Colorado Springs and so reservations were set. Our dinner was one of the highlights of a long weekend trip with my wife. The outer appearance and location had us initially wondering the decision but the food and service will certainly bring us back."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Our dining experience was great from start to finish. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Our server even introduced us to the bar tender so that he could help my wife with her cocktail selection. We enjoyed all four courses, and it was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary."

  • "Had another great meal here! The food is well prepared and perfectly proportioned, the service friendly and attentive, and the location, across the street from the Millabo Art Theater, is perfect for either before or after theater dining. Highly recommended!"

  • "We had a great time and were able to catch up with our friends in the fairly quiet atmosphere. Great service!"

  • "Have always enjoyed the Blue Star. Joe Coleman understands the restaurant business and provides a nice dining experience. They used to have two menus to order off of. Now there is only one which substantially reduces the food choices."

  • "We have been to "Nosh" the sister restaurant of Blue Star, so we thought we give this place a try. We have always loved going to Nosh and we thought this would be a similar experience. The service at Blue Star is the best thing that they have going there, everyone from the front door service to the servers was exceptional! We also loved the atmosphere and ambiance, a very great place to enjoy a night out! What was lacking however was the wine and food quality and on a scale of 1-10. Mushroom Bisque (9) - Special Steak (4) - Special Seabass (6) - $13 glass of Malbec (2) - Arugula Salad (7) - Dessert sampler (2). We would only go back if invited by someone else, there are a lot better places to spend our money."

  • "The Baked Double Cream Brie was probably the best dish I've ever had, I really loved it. Also, the Stella Moscato and the Beehive were delicious. The service was okay, the one waitress seemed to spend a lot of time just talking. This could be a good thing if you like a lot of attention from your waitress and there aren't many full tables...the young man who filled our water glasses was very awkward. The atmosphere was very pompous and a bit rude, for a fairly inexpensive and small restaurant. I would expect such an attitude for a more up-scale, established and confident restaurant. Also, the paintings are just plain creepy. However, for the food and drinks I will return!"

  • "We had a difficult experience at the Blue Star, sometimes the kitchen doesn't get it right or other combinations that happen in Restaurants. I must say that the Management and Staff overwhelmed us with their attention to my dilemma and did all they could to make me and wife comfortable. The food is great so are the people so go and enjoy"

  • "Excellent Valentine's day meal! Everything that we had was awesome. We noticed that the entire wait staff and manger worked like a team. It was not just your table or my table, if someone walked by and saw an empty dist they picked up. If you needed a drink anyone of them would get it. We were so impressed that we called the manager over and told him about it before we left."

  • "What a wonderful place to celebrate a day of love. The restaurant was busy, yet the service was excellent. The menu was perfect with 4 complete courses to choose from. The overall ambience was romantic and quiet for a comfortable conversation. I would highly recommend The Blue Star for fine dining."

  • "This place was outstanding, the service was excellent and the food was really good. I would recommend this place to family and friends. Parking was okay, don't the the outside appearance steer you away. The inside was very nice and the staff was friendly! I would return."

  • "The Blue Star had a special Valentines Day menu that included a 6-course meal. Each course was delicious and unique and just enough food to leave room for the next course. There were several options within the 6 course meal that you could choose from. The atmosphere was great. The music was a little loud, but the lighting and ambiance were very romantic . My wife loved it! The service was also very prompt but not overly so. Would definitely recommend. I felt like the food quality was just as good, if not better, than say the Broadmoor Penrose Room or Charles Court."

  • "This restaurant was our second date so I had to take him back for his birthday. He loved it. I put in a request that my boyfriend liked German Chocolate cake. The manager called me the morning of the dinner to inform me she did not carry that cake but a local desert shop might. She also offered to call for me. We showed up for our dinner and I brought in a German Chocolate cake for my boyfriend and the manager "then" tells me, no outside food was allowed but that desert was complimentary. I did not understand why she would offer to contact a desert shop for me if I would not have been able to bring it in. Very disappointing! My boyfriend also moved his chair closer to me and during mid dinner, the same manager insisted on moving us."

  • "My boyfriend and I came here for dinner on Saturday. The food was AMAZING!! We had butternut squash and mushroom bruschetta, and for dinner I had pork with a beet spaetzel and he had an Ahi Tuna dish. Great for a romantic date night without being too formal (we wore jeans). Compaints - I ordered 2 of their specialty drinks and they were very strong. Also, the service wasn't bad, but was a little odd - we started off with a waiter who didn't seem to sure of himself, & didn't qutie fit in with the atmosphere. He then confirmed this suspicion by telling us that he has been out for a while, so he was a little "off". Then, at some point between drinks and ordering dinner, a woman (manager?) served us the rest of the night. She was pleasant."

  • "The food seems to have hit a plateau a while back, it's very good but something's keeping it from being great. The service however has always remained fantastic. The servers, hostess, bartenders, and everyone else, are nothing but top notch."

  • "It was definitely a nice place to take someone for a special occaision. My only complaint was that the portions were rather small. Left feeling still a little hungry."

  • "Every item we ordered was excellent and we appreciated the attentiveness of our servers. The lamb medallion was cooked perfectly - I highly recommend it as well as the butternut soup with the ginger crouton."

  • "It started out with a bang. The restaurant called the morning of our reservation to confirm, which I appreciated. We arrived early, but our table was ready. Because it was New Years Eve, they only had one offering(pick 6 for$ 60). It was a 6 course meal. The bread, although baked that day, was a little hard from being left sitting out. The Sword fish appetizer was beautifully plated, but didn't allow for you to get the full flavors in one bite. The other appetizer was a big cheese ball. It tasted like your average cheese stick. The salad had no flavor. It was very one note. sorbet was wonderful. I wish there was more. The Sword fish entrée was well cooked and certainly above average. The center cut was subpar. I could barely eat a third."

  • "We went to the Blue Star to celebrate a very special event for us and we could not have asked for a better place for our celebration - in fact it was darn near perfect. The service was top notch as was the food and the ambiance was elegant yet unpretentious. Thank you Blue Star for helping us make our special day amazing."

  • "Our family of four ate New Year's Eve dinner at the Blue Star and the food choices and quality were superb. Between the four of us we sampled all of the prix fixe menu offerings, with the exception of the swordfish appetizer and the vegetarian entrée. Each of the dishes that were served to us were inventive, deliciously seasoned and perfectly prepared. We truly enjoyed our meal. Our waitress was a little forgetful and had not mastered the art of excellent service, but the food experience was great."

  • "We always love going to The Blue Star! Thoughtfully prepared foodserved by a very attentive waitstaff. The New Years Prix Fixe menu was no exception! A gourmet, 6 course meal for $60 a person, can't be beat! Each course was a scintillating experience for our tastebuds! This is one of the gems in dining for Colorado Springs, and in a way is two restaurants in one. The first area is the bar area, where you get a pub menu. While good food there, we prefer the dining area, which is the second part of the restaurant. Much quieter, and a more comprehensive menu. As always, we will be back!"

  • "We dined at the Blue Star to celebrate our anniversary. The waiter, who was excellent, offered us champagne which we declined and instead gave us a free desert. We weren't expecting this! Both the special and the desert were delicious. We loved the fact that the waiter told us about the deserted school building the owner and the neighboring owner of the distillery bought and converted into a special mix of restaurants, specialty stores and art school. We walked over after dinner and marveled at what they had done to this building - a vibrant neighborhood hangout and destination place in a sleepy area. We don't live in the Springs, but we will certainly dine here again when in town."

  • "Service was top-of-the-line (and I waitressed all through college at a four-star, so know what I'm talking about) food was delicious and exquisitely presented... went Christmas Eve with my daughter. Waitress knowledgeable and attentive, but not too in your in face..."

  • "Had heard of the Blue Star and how good it was. My friend and I were not disappointed. The service was great, not rushed which allowed us time to relax and really enjoy the evening. The food was superb (lamb and duck), wonderfully prepared and tastefully presented. Great place to take out-of-town guests. We ate in the dining room, but would be fun to try the bar area. Can't wait to go back."

  • "Good food but unremarkable. Mushroom soup was strangely tasteless. Three of our party of four had duck, which was succulent, but served with (strangely) a waffle, which added nothing to the dish whatsoever. My wife had scallops--always her favorite at good restaurants. The three scallops were served on pretty much a bare plate and this only accentuated the small portion. The service was excellent in every respect--our server was competent, friendly, efficient, knowledgeable about the dishes and their preparation. The pricing was high and I saw little reason for it. After all, when three scallops cost $34., they'd better be big and outstanding. These were neither. So: good dinner but nothing special and overpriced, too."

  • "We booked our table the day before, and only put in the "notes" section that it was our 7th anniversary. We were greeted by a friendly staff who knew it was our anniversary, and seated us promptly at a great table. Our server was to our table in less than a minute, congratulating us on the occasion (Though we did not mention it. The same came from another server!), and offered us a small botlle of sparkling wine, a glass of wine, or dessert, on the house! The menu was not huge, but the selections covered everything your heart desires. The food was absolutely AMAZING! All their pork products are done in-house, and their ham was so fantastic that I am left wanting anywhere else. We never waited, not once, for our server. We WILL be returning!"

  • "We had dinner with some friends and it was the best duck they had ever eaten. The halibut was a little dry but everything else was outstanding with a friendly and intimate atmosphere, our older children were welcomed and had a nice kids menu. Thank you Blue Star! We will be back for sure."
