  • "Great BYO option. Everything we ordered was delicious and well prepared. Scallops were top notch. Ask for a table on the enclosed porch. We sat in an area near the kitchen door, and it was a little annoying. Very friendly oowner and family-run business. "

  • "Service was very good as was the food, could have had larger servings."

  • "Recently had dinner at this restaurant and was impressed with both the food and sevice. It is located in a Victorian and the decor was gerat. We had a Scallop dish and Hanger seak and both were exceptional. The restaqurant is BYOB, so what coul be better."

  • "wonderful, friendly, down-to-earth service. The renovations to this beautiful old bed and breakfast are beautiful, combining dark wood, blue glass, and plenty of light. Brunch has familiar foods with very special touches that make each selection unique. DO NOT miss the honey roasted potatoes."

  • "We have a home in Cape May and are always looking out for good eats. Priced at the higher end relative to other Cape May eateries, it is well worth it, especially as a BYOB. The bread was amazing as were the scallops and chicken. The waiter was excellent and very attentive. My only suggestion is to not seat people next to the kitchen when the place is rather empty! It evoked several thoughts as to why we were seated there in the first place; I would rather not opine on this in a public forum. After a while, I calmed down and decided to enjoy a lovely meal and am glad I did. We will ask for a better seat next time but honestly, no one should have to. Other than this unfortunate mishap, I would have given it 5 stars!"

  • "Lovely Victorian décor with blue accent pieces. Sides, rice, potatoes veggies excellent, but the main meat portions were disappointing. We had crab cakes and scallops. just so so. Cappuccino after was nice."

  • "We've only eaten at the Blue Rose twice, but we're going to make this our go-to place to dine. The food is expertly prepared, imaginative, and disappears before your eyes. Cape May had so many places for good food, it's hard to tell anyone that they need to make room for a new one - but you do. It will end up on your short list."

  • "I was pleasantly surprised with this relatively new addition to the Cape May eating scene. Set within a charmingly old B&B, my guest and I were warmly welcomed on arriving and our table service was prompt and cheery. The gnocchi appetizer was very good, as were the second course Scottish Salmon and the Crab Cakes. I particularly liked the hint of ginger in the Crab Cakes, something I have not had in the past. The Apple Crostata dessert was delicious, as was the french press coffee (nice touch). The menu selections lack some imagination, but the dishes were well prepared, fresh and tasty. Don’t forget to BYOB!"

  • "We visit Cape May frequently and have dined at many of the top spots. we were happy to find out that this beautiful old building has reopened as a restaurant and B&B. The food exceeded our expectations dramatically. The gnocchi appetizer was one of the best dishes we have had recently. All of the courses were first rate. The location is classic Victorian and the service was friendly and efficient. We highly recommend the Blue Rose. Tim & Dianne Casey"

  • "Let me start by saying that the food was excellent.. I have had crab cakes at some of the best places in MD and The Blue Rose's appetizer was generous and as good as any I have eaten. The scallop entree was perfect and came with an outstanding risotto. The service was however well below standard, inattentive and unacceptibly slow. It was a weekend in February but it was Valentine's weekend. I had expected the restaurant to also have been prepared to make this a special evening, it was not . I would go back the meal was that good. The service had best improve or it wil be the last time. I will add that management was genuinely interested in, and very cordially responsive to my concerns and promised to make amends for the issues identified."

  • "We got caught on our first visit. The place was not crowded, but something had to have been wrong in the kitchen. The service was abysmally slow...so slow that everybody working there was running around frantically apologizing. Ultimately, the food was quite good, but it almost wasn't worth it by the time we were finally served. We are not going to hurry back. I can't imagine what it would be like when it's at capacity. It was a disappointing experience."

  • "An excellent dining experience. Food, service and hospitality were outstanding. Menu item choices are limited but that probably allows the owners to focus on quality vs. quantity. Prices are reasonable compared to other fine dining options in the area. Highly recommended."

  • "Four of us went last weekend with high hopes for the restaurant that has succeeded Alexanders. We were greeted by a young woman who said that their kitchen was "just crazy" at the time, and we would not be able to be seated right away. She asked that we "chill out" in the parlor and start drinking some of the wine we had brought with us. I began to wonder if I should have brought my own appetizers too..... After 15 minutes, we were shown to our table in a room that was a curious mix of Victorian and lounge decor. The food we had was fine. Nothing great; nothing terrible. But the service oddities just continued, like an inexplicable stand-up comedy routine that our waiter did, making for a very strange night."

  • "The gnocchi preparation was light and flavorful, and the scallops were fresh. A great contender on the Cape May dining scene."

  • "We had previously been to Blue Rose in Sept, on the day before they were meeting with an Open Table rep, and loved it. But now we were bringing 2 other couples to this new star of the Cape May restaurant scene. Scary, because this was OUR recommendation for a brief 2-day stay. Blue Rose did not disappoint! The food was fantastic. The service was impeccable and entertaining. And, the B&B's owner stopped by to ensure we were pleased - his son and daughter-in-law run the kitchen. Visit Blue Rose - you will not be disappointed."

  • "Everything including the bread is prepared and served with great attention to detail in both taste and presentation. The experience was much better compared to some of the other established fine dining restaurants in Cape May. This is definitely a place to seek out."

  • "My wife and I returned to the Blue Rose after having dined there in the summer. The food was excellent again. Service Was excellent and we think we had the same server who is excellent. BYOB is great. It is nice to chat with the owner, he has a wonderful personality and is happy to have you as his customer."

  • "I have dined at Blue Rose Inn on 3 occasions. The food is excellent and consistent. My only issue is the menu is very limited. If there is a limited menu there should be a few specials."

  • "The chef put a unique, delicious spin on popular dishes and visited every table to check-in with guests. Great wait staff, too - very attentive and thorough. We'll be back again."

  • "We first had dinner at The Blue Rose in Sep-2013 and booked again last week. The food and service were outstanding. Six entrees served perfectly at the same time including salmon, scallops, hangar steak, and pork. Each one was done perfectly with a wonderful balance of flavor. Our waitress was attentive without inhibiting our enjoyment of the meal. The Blue Rose is new to Cape May this year and they deserve your attention. Please give them a try to help them weather the first year in business because the food is THAT GOOD. They have a modest but well executed menu; quality over quantity. They deserve to become a Cape May fixture. We are already booked for February 2014."

  • "Blue rose Inn was a real gem in Cape May. The calamari was so incredibly tender and the crabcake was all crab, no filler. Very friendly service. They even prepared a special and delicious dish for my daughter."

  • "This restaurant is fairly new...having been taken over by new owners within the past year. We went for our 27th Anniversary and were definitely not disappointed. We were greeted at the front door and taken to our seats...a nice corner seat. The restaurant was not crowded since it is was the end of November so it was even more quiet than normal; however, it was perfect. Our waiter was very friendly and was attentive all evening without being intrusive. The food was absolutely delicious...I had the Scottish Salmon and my husband the hangar steak..we finished we with the white chocolate and coconut crème brulee. We also had a visit at our table by the owner's son-in-law to make sure we were enjoying our evening. A perfect evening! BYOB"

  • "We had a nice dinner. Ate here on a Friday night--damp, dreary & rainy. We and one other couple were the only people in the restaurant (off season--pre-winter). We were greeted, shown to a table, greeted by server who was attentive. We felt the menu was very limited for appetizers and entrees. I had the scallop & risotto dish, which was excellent. Our appetizers and my husband's meal were good. I'd like to see a nice filet on the menu. We'll dine here again."

  • "We went to the Blue Rose this weekend. The food was 5 star! Every dish, from our appetizers to dessert was absolute perfection. The new owners just opened the restaurant Memorial Day weekend, and they have outdone themselves. It's a family run operation, and not only did the father of the chef stop by our table on his way out after dining, but the sous chef/inn keeper also stopped by to check in on our meal and shared the history of the building. I cant' say enough how delicious the food was, we all kept taking tastes of everyone else's dishes. Highly recommend this restaurant."
