The Blue RoomWonderful placeI have been coming to The Blue Room for 20 years. I usually save it for special occasions, but whenever I come, it is relaxing, the food unusual and well-prepared, the ambience comfortable and the noise level quiet (a rare thing), and the staff informed, helpful and efficient. The gnudi was a delicious entree.
A consistently great dining experience.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGood spot for bday brunch buffet! It's not always easy to find a good new brunch buffet spot. But, the Blue Room does a pretty good job. A reasonable price (about $28), you have a nice dining experience with fresh, local food. The buffet offers standards with a sophisticated twist (scrambled eggs with creme freche, berkshire pork, etc) next to fare like grilled veggies, spinach salad, lox, meat carving, etc. and a dessert table with scones, muffins, mini cupcakes, fresh fruit, yogurt, cookies and cheesecake. We were definitely full, but not rolling, out, which was nice. The waitress wasn't overly pro-active in filling our water, coffee, clearing plates, or bringing the check, but was always friendly and eager when we asked for something. Would definitely go back.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBlue room is still goodThere have been some changes in the kitchen; menu seemed a little smaller but high quality ingredients, variety of foods that we enjoyed sharing. Nice amuse bouche to start with and generous wait staff. Like their outdoor space. New (to me) cocktail list was fun but required some explanation from wait staff but some of us.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBlue Room... Good for a Long Time!Restaurants come and go, but the Blue Room has been good for maybe 30+ years. Love to sit outside on a warm summer evening. Love the short and simple menu. Service is pleasant, not at all overdone. Server forgot the sugar for my coffee after promising to bring it right over, but I wasn't terribly miffed... they were obviously busy and working hard. The vegetable (mainly radish) salad was quirky... could have had some beets in addition to radishes (?) Chicken liver pasta was interesting and good. Overall, a lovely spot, especially in summer. Hope it will last forever!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA little gem in Kendall SquareI really enjoyed my dinner with a friend at The Blue Room. Our server took the time to explain the drinks and dishes in detail and patiently answered all our questions. I really liked the hideaway feeling of the restaurant. The highlight was the homemade ice cream! The chèvre flavor was very good and I would gladly have it again!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place!I had a great time at the Blue Room. The service was excellent. I enjoyed the quality and taste of the food.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBest lamb shankThe Blue Room is always a culinary delight, but they outdid themselves with the lamb shank special.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing buffetCame here for the brunch buffet with a group of seven people to celebrate my graduation. The food was delicious, hot, and fresh. The selection was perfect; enough different dishes to have something for everyone, but not so many that you get overwhelmed.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe.could not have been happier.We.could not have been happier. Post-movie this time, another time we might just come for the good food and superb service.
HB5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Farm-Fresh MenuWonderful Mother's Day Brunch with wide array of options. (Freshly prepared meats included Duck, Lamb, Pork, Beef, and Chicken.)
Dessert table was fabulous. Seating was extended into the bar area to accommodate for Mother's Day volume, so the ambience wasn't AS good as if we were in the main dining area, but it still was very nice. Food was excellent, but it is a bit overpriced. Family of four with three drinks was almost $180 (which includes a 4 and 6 year old child .... who eat very little.)5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMy mother loved The Blue Room!I took my mother to The Blue Room on Mother's Day and we had a fabulous time! Can't believe I had never been here before. You can't beat the wine sold at retail price on Sunday. I will definitely be back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA Kendall Sq. GemAn interesting selection of delicious dishes and cocktails. We sat outside and the space is fantastic as was the service. A great date spot.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA Vermont feel in CambridgeMy husband and I met my sister and brother in law for dinner an a Saturday evening at 7:30. The restaurant was just filling up at that time. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. She explained the menu to all of us quite eloquently. The meal started off with Meg's sunshine goat cheese with some very memorable chutney. Then we were treated to some smoked treats compliments if the kitchen. For my entree I enjoyed the mussels. A large bowl steaming with broth and some wonderful toast on top. Other meals at the table were the , halibut, skirt steak and duck. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The ambience is "vermonty" with stone walls and firewood stacked up out front. All in all a wonderful dining experience.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAs Good As EverEvery time I dine at the Blue Room, I have consistently delicious food.
I will be back.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrate a special birthday hereFabulous dining experience, wine list by the glass was adequate, appetizer with the sausage is as good as an entre the meal for two is a great value and the chicken was cooked to perfection. Then the lemon desert topped off a great evening. Very relaxed, never felt rushed, waiter was attentive little jokes were cute, not over done.

So good we went back again!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe dined at The Blue RoomWe dined at The Blue Room at the end of restaurant week, and all four of us ordered off the restaurant week menu. There were plenty of choices--at least a half dozen each of appetizers, main courses, and desserts. I enjoyed the cheese appetizer, the pork main course, and the sundae for dessert. Service was friendly and attentive. This was our second visit to the restaurant in a year. Both times everyone was very happy with the meal and the atmosphere; we expect we'll be going back again soon.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was terrific -- excellentFood was terrific -- excellent selection of dishes for Restaurant Week. They ran out of a few desserts, but offered other options and comped a dessert wine for each of us! Also served complimentary olive madeleines, a very unusual idea!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMsmall menu, good foodWhat we ate was excellent, the crusty bread delicious..the options on the menu were rather sparse however and I wish there was a larger range of choice.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall but intrigueing menu.Small but intrigueing menu.
