From start to finish, the food was
delicious and beautifully presented. Even though we were the only diners on a quiet winter mid-week evening, we were never rushed or made to feel like we were keeping the staff from closing up shop. Our server was cheerful and attentive without being intrusive."

We went to the Blue Rock Inn in
lieu of exchanging gifts for Christmas. We were greeted with a smile and seated immediately in the dining room with a beautiful roaring fire. The wine was excellent. Maureen is an awesome waitress and took great care of us! The food was exquisite as always! We got a chance to talk to John the chef at the end of our meal and thanked him for the great evening. We love the Blue Rock Inn!!!"

Very nice food, wonderful daytime
view. Service was attentive though a little lacking in polish."

We could not have been more
pleased with our experience at the Blue Rock this past Sunday. Our waiter was outstanding, the setting terrific, and the food was perfect! This was our first time at the Blue Rock but definitely not the last."

It seems that The Blue Tock Inn is
trying hard to be a high quality inn. But something just isn't synching. We had a large party with 1 server who appeared to be knowledgeable but over tasked. Food came out haphazardly and the quality of the food was average for the price tag. There is something amiss in the management of this establishment it seems."
Dined on 10/26/2013
Duck breast was disappointing,
despite strong recommendation by servers. Location is great and there are few affordable alternatives in the area, so here is hoping that they up their game."

The Blue Rock Inn was a very
pleasant surprise. Great hospitality, great food along with a great view!"

The Blue Rock Inn is a lovely spot
for dinner inside or outside. The service was fabulous the other night. We started out on the patio with a drink and an appetizer. When we were ready, the four of us moved inside for a tasty, elegant dinner. We have always had a great experience here including the B&B accommodations. This sweet spot in Virginia always feels like a French country getaway without a plane fare!"

Only one thing marred an otherwise
splendid evening: Two smokers at one table near us on the terrace and another who came out twice from inside.. The smoke definitely interfered with our enjoyment of our meal. How about a policy requiring smokers to move to the other side of the building or out on the lawn when they feel the need for a smoke?"

We were very happy to discover the
Blue Rock Inn and will be back. The setting is very pretty and takes advantage of the country setting with a beautiful patio and nicely decorated dining rooms with big windows. My brunch was delicious (french toast, eggs and bacon) and my husband's creole shrimp and grits was good. The unusual variety of biscuits were fantastic and worth going back for on their own. Go and enjoy!"

This was our first visit to Blue
Rock Inn and we brought along our houseguests. We all were impressed with the inn. Wonderful ambience thoughout, very clean and neat and well layed out. The menu offered a nice variety of dishes, the excellent food was served in creative ways, and the waitstaff was friendly, helpful and attentive. A beautiful walled in alfresco dining patio could be seen from the windows of the main dining room, which afforded the same great views: a lovely pond; gamboling horses in a paddock, Blue Ridge Mountains nestled in the near distance. We dined on a Thursday evening when it was extremely quiet. We'll go again on a Friday or Saturday evening to see if our experience changes in any major way."

This is the second time I have
eaten at the Blue Rock Inn.This time we were shown to a charming dining room inside yet in full view of the patio and the wonderful outdoor scenery. The food was excellent."

In the past 8 years several
stellar restaurants closed their doors in the Shenandoah area. Fortunately, Blue Rock cropped up. It has everything: great food - mains are wonderfully complemented with original, tasty sides - good wines and atmosphere, scenic views. A tired but discerning gourmand hikers' dream. Wine tasters delight."
Dined on 9/15/2013
Music was great! Perhaps they had
a busy night inside, but service was hard to come by on the patio."
Dined on 9/14/2013
The Blue Rock Inn provided an
exceptional outdoor Dinng experience. The food was outstanding and the Patio dining was romantic. The Patio has Beautiful views of the Blue Ridge mountains and we experienced a gorgeous sunset over the mountains."

Great Country Inn (B&B) located in
the rolling hills of Virginia near the Skyline Drive. The only issue is the menu on their web site is not up-to-date but you still have good selections. It may be the fact it was a holiday but the service was a little slow. Great views! Good Food!"
Dined on 9/2/2013
I knew it was going to be a
special night, when we first step in the restaurant. The service was great from the beginning til the end. The food was fresh and hot, the desert strawberry shortcake taste just like Mama's. I will visit again and take some of my friends."
Dined on 8/17/2013
The food was so delicious. The
Seafood crepe, grilled vegetables and fresh sweet fruit were outstanding. We sat outside on the lovely patio overlooking water with fountain and the beautiful mountain view."
Dined on 8/25/2013
Food average and price expensive
for quality. Service inattentive. People nice. Would recommend the Inn which is lovely."

If possible, sit on the patio
overlooking a small pond. Unfortunately, service & food did not match our expectations. Our waitress made multiple mistakes, After specifically stating an appetizer had no onions, it came out & was chock full of onions. 15 minutes later a 2nd appetizer came after the rest of our party had finished theirs. Then the bison filet came covered in onions OMG!!! To make matters worse the wine cork on an $80 bottle broke Our waitress was going to continue opening the bottle to serve us. We politely asked for a new bottle. Food was mediocre, nothing bad just nothing memorable. And to top of the poor service, our 2nd bottle of wine arrived when our dinner was finished! A pricey meal for subpar food & service"

We have been going to The Blue
Rock Inn for some three decades while it has been under various owners and staffing. We were concerned when the enterprise came out of bankruptcy several years ago that the quality aspirations of the new owners would not be achievable and sustainable. We have been reassured by our recent experiences that The Blue Rock Inn is back to, and perhaps even exceeding, its original quality."
Dined on 8/11/2013
We wanted a quiet restaraunt with
scenic views good food and good service. We found it and will return again soon. I recommend going near sunset if possible as the sun sets behind the mountain view."

My wife and I had a wonderful
dinner by the windows overlooking the mini-lake, with a view of the horses and mountains. Started with a savory plum soup and a trio of heirloom tomato concoctions-- a sorbet, a magnificent gazpacho and a bruschetta. Main courses-- pork loan steak with apples and polenta, black-eyed peas/roasted pepper rosti with vegetable medley (picked from their garden) and delicious beet,& parsnip sauces, and salsa verde. Desserts included a chocolate bread pudding and a strawberry/rhubarb crisp served with vanilla ice cream. All making up a tasty and filling meal. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. The whole experience was a very pleasant one, lasting about two hours."

We have never been disappointed at
the Blue Rock Inn. The staff are friendly, accommodating, and intelligent. The food is fabulous. The setting is serene. The main dining room is configured to allow private conversations and little noise. It was a perfect place to bring our friends who had been married that day."
Dined on 7/19/2013
We enjoyed three superb dining
experiences--lunch, dinner, and breakfast--last weekend at the Blue Rock Inn. The delicious food (and its exquisite presentation) and the pleasant atmosphere of the three dining venues contributed greatly to our wonderful overnight stay!"

We made reservations at The Blue
Rock Inn because the restaurant at which we had tried to make reservations didn't have a free table. It turned out to be a very good brunch with very pleasant ambience. We appreciated the staff getting us out for a concert nearby."

I had not been to the Blue Rock
Inn before yet have been to the area many times to stay.It was in a beautiful setting, not far from my B&B,The service was excellent from the moment I walked in. The food was excellent too. What I loved most was the charming patio looking across a pond into the rolling hills. Just what I wanted for the evening!"
Dined on 7/6/2013
The Blue Rock Inn has a great
outdoor seating area with incredible views of the mountains and the surrounding countryside. While our meals were very good, the menu tends to favor meat and lamb dishes with only a few chicken and seafood options. The mixed greens salad was delicious and likely made using veggies from the garden that adjoins the restaurant . The wine list is very good and features several interesting local wines at very reasonable prices. The service was also outstanding. Definitely consider the Blue Rock Inn if you're in the area!"
Dined on 7/6/2013
very disappointing. would try
again as it should have been a nice evening, but..... 20 minutes to be served a drink and another 30 min before dinner was ordered is quite poor"
Dined on 6/29/2013
I really enjoyed my dinner at Blue
Rock. The service was great, the people incredibly nice, and the view outstanding. The food, overall, was very good, however I felt that each salad served at our table had far too much dressing, and the side dishes for my main course were favor-wise a bit overpowering and out of balance. All in all, however, a really lovely meal, and I hope to be back soon."

The Blue Rock Inn restaurant
always impresses our visitors with the spectacular setting and the comfortable atmosphere. The view and the sunset (almost) make up for the culinary flaws such as the lack of balance and, particularly, of subtlety. Among the appetizers, the tiny portion of fine mushroom pate with goat cheese mousse was ruined by overpowering spiciness while, in contrast, a nicely complex hummus was accompanied by incredibly ordinary pita. The rack of lamb was the best two at our table ever had, and the tabouli and tzatziki were tasty, but a coarsely assertive salsa overwhelmed everything. The quality and presentation of the dishes indicate the chef's potential, but they also make us hope that it can become more fully realized."

Went there for Fathers Day.
Beautiful setting, ate outside. Food and service great, setting beautiful, price by DC standards moderate. Well worth the trip to get away from DC"

The Blue Rock Inn is a true find
for the most discriminating diner. It has an outstanding menu, the food and atmosphere are top notch and the service is unmatched in the restaurant business. The views from the patio and fine dining room were gorgeous, overlooking the Blue Ridge, a tranquil lake and field full of galloping horses. The relaxing pace and attentive table service made the evening complete. We started at 6:30 and were finishing desert at 9:30 having enjoyed one of the most leisurely, un-rushed dinners in recent memory. We also had the distinct pleasure of dining in the Blue Horse Pub, co-located in the Inn the night before and for lunch on Saturday. The experience, quality of food and selection were also outstanding."

A microwaved english muffin with
eggs benedict is not a good thing. The muffin was so tough it could not be cut. The crepes had tough/hard pieces of chicken that were either dried out or cooked fat. In a large dining room with window tables, (two of them empty) we were seated in the middle of the room directly facing another couple - which was awkward and we could hear every word of their conversation. We were the ONLY two tables in the room - so spacing us further apart would have made sense. I would suspect this is a nice place for local diners but not something a VA explorer of fine dining would ever go to again."

Lovely place in a lovely spot.
Food was deicious -- subtle, unusual flavor combinations. Service was delightful, personal but not overly famiiar. Only small complaint -- wasn't crazy about the music, which was a litte too loud. A keeper!"

We have been to Blue Rock Inn many
times over the past 30 plus years. This was the first time for brunch. It was a very pleasant experience, enhanced by perfect weather in a beautiful setting."

The Blue Rock Inn & Restaurant is
a very special experience! When we walked in the door we were warmly greeted by Maddie & Maureen. We toured the Inn's first floor: dining room, patio, pub & were stunned by view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our reservation was for the formal dining room. Dave was attentive and friendly. After dinner we moved to the patio for our dessert, then to the pub for a Brandy. We found the pub warm, casual and there had the opportunity to meet, John, the chef and to compliment him on our dinner. We enjoyed our evening so much that we made another dinner reservation for the next night! We highly recommend Blue Rock Inn and we look forward to returning!"

We had a party of six for a
special event. We were seated in a private room and had great services. The menu was interesting, the preparation was to perfection and the presentation was clean, crisp and contemporary."
