A word from The Blue Point
Our menus: www.thebluepoint.com.

A fresh approach to regional, coastal cuisine & southern hospitality alongside spectacular views of the Currituck Sound.
Inspired dinner & lunch menus served in a warm and inviting atmosphere by a professional and natural staff. Exceptional and friendly Wine Menu + Full Bar.

There are very limited reservations for groups larger than 6. In season, we do not accept reservations for groups larger than 12, and we do not split larger groups to get around this rule. Reservations can be made to have dinner at the bar.
We do have some seating available on a first come - first served basis so it is always worth checking to see if you can get a table. In season we have a large outdoor bar area on the sound where you can enjoy a cocktail while you wait.

No better place for good food, good wine, good friends and spectacular sunsets.

We had dinner at The Blue Point for a special anniversary. We have been there several times before and both the food & service are always great. The view from the windows or outside is also lovely and perfect for seeing the sun set over the sound.

Blue Point is by far one of the best, if not the best restaurant in the entire Outer Banks. Always fine food, great service, and just a real treat. We always make a point to eat there when we vacation in the Outer Banks. Highly recommend it to all.

Every visit to the Outer Banks, we make a point of having at least one lunch and one dinner at The Blue Point. We have since the first week they opened in July 1989. We're never disappointed and this latest dinner was no different. Excellent food, excellent service.

This is a very popular restaurant and boasts of beautiful sunsets on the sound. This was our first visit. We made reservations on Saturday, and the earliest reservation we could get was on Monday night at 8 pm. They close about 9 pm, so this must have been the reservation time slot. If you want to see the sunset, you will need to probably book a week or so in advance. It is not inexpensive, but a good value considering the food and the service. My wife and I both had seafood dishes which were very good and very generous. They also had menu selections for pork and beef

During our stay on OBX, was able to finally get a reservation - speaks to its popularity. A much better experience overall than at this restaurant's upstart "competition" down the street (less attentive wait staff, more limited menu, very rushed from course to course) named after a watercraft with limited float endurance (?). Plan to return to Blue Point at beginning and end of each OBX visit. Looking forward to it already. Duck is, BTW, a great destination - laid back classy away from the hubbub further south.

This restaurant is now a yearly tradition for us. We vacation in OBX every year and take one night out of the year to have a date night. The restaurant was very acommodating in getting us a window seat, which afforded us a great view of the sunset over the water. The wine list is extensive. Food is innovative and delicious. Would definitely recommend for a date night out. Not really a child friendly place.

This is the third time I've been here over about 10 - 15 years. Everyone says it's their favorite place?? The first time we had a reservation and were told it would be 10-15 minutes, we told the hostess we'd wait in the bar. About half an hour later we went to see what the problem was, since we were not right in her face she had given our table away. We had to wait 1.5 hours for a table and then had terrible service. Last two times were ok but the place is REALLY LOUD and the food so so. The crabcake was breaded and deep fried and resembled a hockey puck.

After 15 years in the restaurant business, both FOH and Heart of the house, this restaurant was exactly what I pictured from the second we walked in the door until the two hosts greeted us. After that I was completely blown away by the hospitality of the staff, the ambiance of the dining room, and from what I could see on our host guided tour to the outside bar, a kitchen that I would be proud to represent. We were more than politely greeted by the bartender outside and served promptly along with the multitude of other guests. I currently work as a bartender and I envied her ability to step away from the bar, after all waiting customers were happily served, to climb up on the porch railing to exercise the blinds and reveal a picturesque...

We dined at the Blue Point twice during our week in Duck - and were very happy with the food and the ambiance. The food is fresh, interesting and well presented. The ambiance is lively/active but not too loud or crowded. The service reasonably orchestrated but a tad indifferent. Watch out for the receptionist - the one on duty on our first visit was a delight; the one on duty during our second visit would have been more at home in an army barracks.

Waste of time, waste of money.Do not recommend. I book a reservation almost a month in advance for an 8pm dinner. I dress nicely as does my date, because the online pictures and pricing might suggest this is a nicer establishment. Not only were we told to wait, and sat by the door, when I requested a window seat in my reservation, but the room was so cramped and loud and obnoxious, and it took 20 minutes to fill just a drink order. Never again. Food was just so-so. And never will we recommend to others. You had to scream across your table to be heard by your date.

We have been vacationing in Corolla and Duck, NC for almost 20 years and have visited The Blue Point every year. It was a tiny place when we first discovered it but the food was so wonderful that we kept coming back. It has undergone renovations over the years but the quality of the food has remained superb. Definitely try the she-crab soup and the crab cakes entree. And definitely make a reservation.

Exellent, creamy, non-tradtional she crab soup. Both the cod & the trout were first rate. Some dishes are on the more highly seasoned side which I prefer. Everything seems fresh. The service has been consistantly friendly & helpful during the visits I have made every season. There is a good selection of wine by the glass at what would be a reasonable price for a big city bar. The wine list in general gets a Wine Spectator mention. Prices for the food seem high but not above what you would expect for a good seasonal restaurant. Deserts, such as the pecan pie and the cobbler are good but not overpowered by sugar. The only downside, & a minor one, is the bread. The corn bread in particular needs more of that distinctive corn taste.

Although I read the disclaimers on website there are few "nice" dining options in OBX. With a large group or young children, do not recommend. Large groups--see website. We booked a party of 5 (on OT) but they had us down for 4. Easy enough fix but majority of seating is 4 person booths. We had a toddler and there is only one kid food item--buttered pasta. We chose the mac n' cheese side which is cooked with pimentos--wonderful for adults, child did not approve. Limited menu overall but decent choices. Trout was standard. Other adults raved about their meals: mahi, scallops, crab cake. Price hard to justify unless you are a couple heading out to celebrate a significant occasion. Preferred Red Sky Cafe on all accounts except view.

Everything about our dinner was great. The service was excellent, the food was incredible. I had the Mahi Mahi, my wife had the beef tenderloin. Both were great. I kept sneaking bites of my wife's steak because it was by far the best I have ever had, and I am a regular steak eater. Dessert, we had the pecan pie with bourbon ice cream, also incredible. By far the best overall meal I have ever had. The only knock on the place was it seemed a little loud, and the dude at the table next to me kept singing to his girlfriend which was annoying. Without a doubt the next time we are down there, we will be back.
