A word from The Blue Point
Our menus: www.thebluepoint.com.
A fresh approach to regional, coastal cuisine & southern hospitality alongside spectacular views of the Currituck Sound. Inspired dinner & lunch menus served in a warm and inviting atmosphere by a professional and natural staff. Exceptional and friendly Wine Menu + Full Bar.
We do our best to accommodate requests for certain tables, locations or servers. However, everyone wants a table on the window. There are very limited reservations for groups larger than 6. In season, we do not accept reservations for groups larger than 12, & we do not split larger groups to get around this rule. Our inside bar is reserved for dining. We do have seating available on a first come - first served basis so it is always worth checking to see if you can get a table. In season we have a large outdoor bar area where you can enjoy a cocktail while you wait.
No better place for good food, good wine, good friends and spectacular sunsets.

  • "There is a reason The Blue Point has been around for 25 years. It is a great place to eat with outstanding food and service. I can't believe I go to the Outer Banks s to eat a pork chop but Blue Point's is not to be missed."

  • "Had a great time. Great food and service. Beautiful sunset!"

  • "I live in Richmond VA and even though this place is in NC, it is still in my top five favorite places to eat! As a point of reference on my taste, I have a mother who is an amazing cook so when I go out to eat it better be good because I could have just gone home for a free 5 star meal. The Blue Point's food is easily 5 star; unique, delicious, and fresh. Plus the atmosphere is perfect!"

  • "The catfish, mahi-mahi, and gnocchi were outstanding. The fried green tomatoes and wedge salad were an aexcellent beginning. The service from Dave wasperfect."

  • "My wife and I have an annual tradition of eating at The Blue Point every year during our beach vacation and it never disappoints. We love grabbing a drink on their deck and watching the sunset while listening to live music. The service is great, and we have actually gotten to know some of the wait staff over the years. We love the food! This year the bone in pork chop was 3" thick - awesome!"

  • "Disappointed I could not get the seat I requested for my anniversary even though it was open when we were seated. My family is local to the area and I told them that and still could not get the seat I was hoping for. We eat here year round, thought that might matter to a seasonal establishment. We also waited 17 minutes before someone came to take drink order or even welcome us. Waitress told us that no one told her we were seated in her section. I've eaten here more than a handful of times, food is always good, but the attention to service from the hosts is average. Especially when dinner for two is $200."

  • "This was our first time to the Outer Banks and after a little research we ended up at the Blue Point. Everyone was extremely happy with their meal selections. Our server was extremely knowledgable about the food preparation and wine pairings. I loved my yellow fin tuna and would eagerly eat it again. The prices reflect the quality of the food and the staff - if you're looking for cheap and cheerful this is not the place. If you're looking for a good quality seafood meal, this is your best bet."

  • "We have been going to Blue Point since it first opened 25 years ago. It's gone through many changes, all for the better, in that time but one thing has never changed. It's never a disappointment. The staff is always friendly and inviting and the food is always amazing. It doesn't matter if it's the high season or the middle of winter, there's always great food and great people. Love, love love this place!"

  • "Dine at dusk if you prefer unforgettable views of the sound and boardwalk with exceptional seasonal cuisine. Snacked on a seasonal items off the menu to start. Had the crab cakes which were made into twin crispy breaded balls. The texture held together and added more of a crisp texture than crab cakes I've had in the past. Also sampled the beef tenderloin to complement the seafood. It was cooked to perfection and seasoned well with just salt and pepper. The service was excellent. My one regret is I wanted to linger a little longer and it felt like our plates disappeared just a fraction too soon by an overzealous busser likely appeasing a congregation of awaiting diners."

  • "The Blue Point is our favorite restaurant on the east coast. The Outer Banks seafood here, with a slight southern twist, is wonderful. The steaks are wonderful too. Owners Sam Mcgann and John Powers have been at it for 25 years and they sure know what they are doing. We always go there when we are at the OBX."

  • "For the second year in a row my wife and I celebrated our anniversary with dinner at The Blue Point. When we arrived they offered us complimentary glasses of champagne and asked us to wait just a moment so that they could get us a nice, quiet table with a beautiful sunset view. My wife got the crab saute, which is only available for a short time during the summer, and I went with the creole-themed mahi special. Both dishes were excellent, and the pecan pie is fantastic. We'll be back!"

  • "Always a special time when we go to this restaurant. This time we went early for the back bar sunset watching, had a signature drink on the lawn. Awesome. we got out table, early actually, and had the usual great service. Waiter even re-chilled my Ketel One. It's extremely unusual when we order special that we don't love, but this time we ordered the chilled potato soup that was only a 7/10 for me and 2/10 for my wife. She said it was the only thing she ever had that wasn't a 9 or a 10/10. Oh well, nobody is perfect. But the main dishes, the Mahi and the sauteed crab were fabulous. The bourbon pecan pie with ice cream was so danged good, too. Still it's the best place down here, hands down."

  • "We had a marvelous dinner here. Fresh caught Mahi Mahi and seared scallops. The food was beautifully prepared and presented, service was prompt and courteous, and setting was great for the sunset over the sound. Highly recommended for those visiting OBX."

  • "I was dissapointed in fresh fish special, mahi mahi. While Creole sauce, served on side and red beans and rice were excellent, the fish itself lacked firmness and was blah. My dining partner was dissapointed in fried catfish. Thick filets were not near as tasty as arkansas farmed catfish we are accustomed to."

  • "I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened 25 years ago. It became better each year, but now suffers the fate all good discovereries of mine eventually face....it became too popular. So get early reservations. You won't regret it."

  • "Wow. This food was incredible. I kept my expectations in check expecting that I would mostly be paying for the view, but the food was wonderful. Most of us had the crab cakes (all crab) with a delicious tarragon sauce but someone also ordered the seared tuna with a pea sauce which I sampled and also enjoyed. Our server was truly a professional. Come early and sit out back enjoying a Pimm's Cup and a view of the sunset over the sound."

  • "When on the northern end of the Outer Banks, and in the mood for a top-notch meal, The Blue Point is the clear choice. It is our favorite choice for "date night" with the kids home with the Grandparents, with fresh food exceptionally prepared and presented, friendly service and a great atmosphere. Book early, as in before you get to Duck, as it is very popular, and being on Open Table makes if extremely convenient. Service is not rushed, but not slow either, and allows for a very relaxing evening."

  • "The Blue Point continues to be far and away the best dining spot on the Outer Banks. We enjoyed an excellent pre-dinner G&T on the lawn, listening to nice music and watching the sun set over Currituck Sound. Followed by a wonderful dinner - soft shell crabs cooked creatively for me, a first rate steak for my wife -- and as always superb service, a very good wine list, and nice, informal atmosphere."

  • "Another delicious meal at the Blue Point! We stop by every year while we're in town, and are always impressed. We requested a quieter table to accommodate a parent who has difficulty hearing in loud restaurants and we were very happy with the table they selected. Great Beef Tenderloin and Crab Cakes! Will definitely return on our next visit to the OBX!"

  • "My husband and I took 3 of our friends to the Blue Point after discovering it on our honeymoon last year. It did NOT disappoint our fond memories. All 5 of us had nothing but rave reviews: the beautiful setting, a superb wine (Alma Negra) that we all enjoyed thoroughly, a very friendly and casual yet professional waiter, and absolutely delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts. The waiter's recommendations were spot on the entire night. Each dish was prepared beautifully and tasted amazing. The Blue Point has definitely solidified itself as one our most memorable and favorite places to visit in the Outer Banks!"

  • "We've been visiting Duck for years, but this was our first time to the Blue Point. The food was fresh, interesting and absolutely delicious. Great craft beers and desserts too. Wait staff knowledgable and pleasant. My dad asked if we could go back the next night too!"

  • "My wife and I had another great visit to The Blue Point. We have been many times before and had another good experience. It was a little noisier than we remembered, but it was Friday night, people were relaxing and imbibing, and the ladies at the next table had been doing a lot of that! We were seated at exactly the table we requested with a wonderful view of the Sound. We had our own drinks and then dinner with wine. My fillet was excellent, and my wife's fish entre was too. We shared for a little surf-and-turf. I was pleased that the chef was not afraid to serve a rare steak. The waiter and his support staff was very good and made for a pleasant experience. We will be back next year!"
